Japan is getting bored of Wii. Will America follow?

Not until you can actually find a wii in the stores.. im still waiting to see one on a shelf so i can buy it. Xbox 360s and ps3s have been on american shelves for over a year now. Supply and demand people supply and demand.

but it can't be a success because it wasn't made by nintendo and doesn't have a pokemon game on it.

I don't think Japanese are getting bored of the Wii. I think its low sales lately are due to saturation [...] lusitanogamer

good for ps3 and when Monster hunter 3 and dragon quest 10 come out wii go up sales and psp not even failure or deadkyacat

wii can make a pause of 3 years and even then the ps3 cant catch up :lol:

I'm not sure how bored they are, since the Wii is still selling more titles in the top 50 than PS3 or 360 or even PSP. So even though the console sales are decreasing, the game sales are still strong, so they must not be too bored playing all those games. Overall, I just think we're seeing a temperary issue, big name PS3/360 games being released.

you're kidding right? the Wii had 0 games in the top 10 this week, ZERO. both software and hardware sales are bad at this point, it only has 2 more games in the top 50 than the PSP, the PSP has 2 games in the TOP 10 though so it's still doing better in both software and hardware sales.

For these who says everyone in Japan got Wii dont forget PS2 sold 24 mils there while Wii still at 7 mils., and about MH3 and Dragon quest X Sony is already getting ready to counter attack them ( MH3 Vs FFVII advent children bundle ) and probably ( Dragon quest X Vs FFXIII ) at the end of this year in Japan, I dont say PS3 is going to pass Wii but as what that guy said people are getting bored of Wii and at the end of this generation probably PS3 will be very close behind Wii in Japan.

Nope, its been 2 weeks. The low wii numbers are due to the release of like, no relevant games. The higher 360, PSPand PS3 sales are due to there biggest announced games relevant to Japan being released in the first 3 months of the year. DS has hit a serious saturation point considering its the best selling system in Japan ever, its selling rate is ridiculous taking this into consideration. PSP still has about less the user base and thus more time to grow.

The Wii's numbers won't pick up until late march - Aprilish when Monster Hunter G launches, and a few games like Muramasa come out. From then on it will have stronger sales until whenever Monster Hunter tri launches in the summerand then from there its anyones guess as to how it will hold up. Quote me on the fact that the high PS3 sales won't last more than a month from this date. There is no shift, its just big games coming out during a nintendo dry spell

If North Americans smarten up and realize what there is to the wii compared to all the other competitors, then the sales would drop. But it has been proven that getting them to smarten up usually takes a while.

I think both cows and lems agree that wii doesn't deserve being nr 1(no hardcore quality titles)

Sony releasing new PS3 bundle which contains the new FFVII AC movie and FFXIII demo in Japan next month so expect it to boost PS3 sales alot since if you look at amazon JP its in the top 10 preordered items.

wii still sells well else where when is people going to realise the us is way bigger and i saw this weeks chart wii sstill besting ps3s 2 to 1 here each week so if japan mostly own wiis they will get ps3 then thered be a tie not much more its to expensie for it to catch ps2 ds has already sold 100 million units world wide wii is nearly sold 50 mllion that being said, wii isnt stopping in japan, its just not selling as much it could be that theres a shortage we dont know,

i go to walmart every month and do not see any wiis there so thats a clue its selling

I assure you its cause of these high profile PS3 games, its only a temporary boost.

Not to mention the reason why the PS3 outsold Wii is cause of RE5, a game that will boost 360 in NA over the PS3.

I think the lack of quality software is catching up to the Wii.

Dragon Quest 9 for sure. Between 13 and tri, anyones guess, depends on how hard they are each pushed in Japan.

I've always wondered how Wii has managed to stay this successful for so long. I really think that once the hype finally dies down, sales of Wii won't gradually fall, but instead plummet big time. It is already happening in Japan, and just a matter of time for other regions.
