Japan Renames Sony/Playstation Fans

Thought this was very different and could spice up SW instead of the usual unoriginal threads daily. This just got posted today, but apparently Japan has adopted a new name for Sony fans.http://kotaku.com/why-sony-fans-are-called-cockroaches-in-japan-569526221'Gokiburi', which means Cockroach.'the 'gokiburi' nickname for Sony fans started appearing online in around 2010. The term still exists and was thrown about Japanese message boards and forums during this month's E3 gaming expo, with Microsoft and Nintendo fans as well as those who simply hate Sony firing off the insult. (Note: Fans of Sony's rivals also have derisive nicknames, and yes, Kotaku will be covering those at a later date).No doubt, 'gokiburi' will get more use as the console war heats up. Like real roaches, this isn't an insult that's likely to go extinct anytime soon.'I had no idea that Sony was viewed like this in Japan. Could this create some negativity towards the Sony brand and its products? Will this affect PS4 sales in the future? Or is this something that's always been part of Japanese gaming culture?Discuss!

people don't realize that Sony abandoned Japan with the majority of its highest rated games SOA got way more money for game development. When Japan sees Uncharted Japan is angry Also, look at the PS4, it's 5x worse in their point of view.

Sure, if it means nothing can phase us, kills us or change our will. But that's too obvious because Sony is already synonymous with that stuff anyways.

I stepped on a roach a few weeks back at work. Bitch is now dead. Shoes can phase you.
