Are you sure people Square will leave FF13 only to PS3 ? I mean what would the sales be, 100.000 max ? Or less ?
At least 360 sells 3x in US, and great in Europe too

A valid question. Will devs like Square continue to back a horse that look like a looser at the moment, or go multiplat to cut losses?
Dev costs have sky rocketed for PS3 and 360. Can a dev take a chance with the lesser intalment base or will a small instalment base force their hand?
Interesting times for gamers these...
Yes, but Square also knows that the ps3 currently has very little games, and needs games to start selling well, and that FFXIII, their flagship title, is supposed to be one of the primary games to get the ps3 off the ground. They don't need to worry about current ps3 sales, as their game is the one that will make the sales.[QUOTE="bobbo"][QUOTE="greg_splicer"]8800/week ???

360 games dominate PS3 ones in Japan ,the PS3 sales in Japan can no longer cover for the slow US sales, for instance in Japan PS3 sells about 6.000 more than 360, and in US 360 sells 40.000 more than PS3, so overall PS3 is 34.000 units behind each week, or 136.000 units / month in those two regions
The 360 is behind 6,000 a WEEK in Japan, where as the ps3 is behind 40,000 a MONTH in the US. So really, the ps3 ends up being behind maybe 10,000 a month. All I know is that I have resistance fall of man and it easily is the best online FPS out thereLogan832
Incorrect.

BTW even if it was as you said, then PS3 would still be 15.000 behind/month but check vgcharts, in january 360 was 80.000 ahead, in febrouary 100.000 ahead, NOT 40.000 !!!

This is not looking good for Sony.
Wonder if they have a plan that can turn this around?

well since the Ps3 is stupidly cheap in Japan (its the same price as an x360 in the UK) & its selling badly i think that having good games would be a solution.
You sure about that? When I checked Game, Woolworths and Argos earlier today it was £425 for the console while the 360 sits happily at around £280 for the premium.
in Japan prices are differen... Proof?

Pretty understandable considering the best games are a shooter, a WRPG, and an off-road racer. Nothing is on the thing yet that really appeals to the Japanese. It'll definitely be the high end console leader in Japan so sales hardly matter right now.Lazy_Boy88
Excuse me, what does being "high end console leader" get you in Japan? A certificate? Perhaps one of those laser-etched 3D glass prisms?
[QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]it did. it was easily the most hyped launch ever. it was the first launch that really prompted people to sleep outside. it was a marketing masterstroke.

PS2 didn't sell that much more than the PS3 is selling right now. It didn't spark until well into the generation.

Hey consider yourself lucky:-) In Norway it's 6000 NOK = about 1000$. (the current exchange course is : 1$ US = 6 NOK)

Actually, genius, all you compared were the PS2 and PS3 global numbers. Considering that the PS2 launched in Japan nine months or so ahead of in the US, that's not really all that surprising. Change it to US launches, and you'll see that the PS2 was selling closer to the Wii's numbers (i.e. almost double that of the PS3).[QUOTE="purplemidgets"][QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]it did. it was easily the most hyped launch ever. it was the first launch that really prompted people to sleep outside. it was a marketing masterstroke.

The PS2 sold more then the PS3 at in it's first weekend then it's first five and a half months there
Â
"Yet, the PS2 initially sold well partly on the basis of the strength of the PlayStation brand and its backward compatibility, selling over 900,000 units in the first weekend in Japan."

Come on people its not that hard to see why the ps3 is doing bad in Japan....the top games for it right now are an FPS Resistance, a WRPG Oblivion anan off road racing game Motorstorm....there are no games which appeal to the japanese tastes. Wait till games like Lair and Heavenly Sword and lets not even talk about FF13 and MGS 4. Ps3 will be sold off the shelves mark my wordskamuixFF13 and MGS4 are a long ways off and the Ps3 continues to lose ground. The hill to climb will be to hard to climb by then, Wii is obviously the winner over in Japan already.
