The question is why.  Is it: the 360 is getting more Japanese oriented games?  Or are the Japanese interests turning toward Western games?

Yeah, according to it the 360 and PS2 are about equal also, and more people play the Wii then the DS. I have a hard time believing that anything even comes close to the DS right now. It still sells 160,000 units a week. What else are people doing with the DS? Paperweight? Surely most people are playing games on it.

Check the poll....less than 150 people voted for 360. It was to small a poll to reflect accurate #s. Dismiss it and move on.

Only because not much else was released this week. DOA 4 outsold VF5 during the first week of sales with 60k copies sold even though when it was released the 360 only had a userbase of 80k while the PS3 had a userbase of 650k when VF5 launched. Blue Dragon and DOAX2 also sold well in their first week with 83k and 45k respectively.

I could see the 360 gaining support in Japan now that the initial PS3 hype is faded. People arent happy with the PS3. Sonys main focus is flawed now. People want games, not multimedia functions.

That is an extremely small number of votes to represent a whole country.

The 360 is doing miserably in Japan, I doubt there is much it could beat in terms of sales.

Why do lems keep scrambling for '360 sucess in Japan'.

Seriously give up already, Msoft may have spent million and millions, but all their efforts - no matter how great, have been unsucessful.

Its all Sheep and Cow territory, time to let it go lems....

This isn't actually true. The 360 has 50% of PS3's sales in Japan. 50%. Now... let's say the trend disclosed above spills over to consumers, let's say Japanese consumers start to realize the 360 is the better deal,  well it's quite possible that by year's end, or through the next holiday season, the 360 can reel in the PS3 in Japan so that both consoles are on an even footing of around 1 million units (PS3 having a couple hundred thousand more).

Wait on didnt the PS3 outsell the 360 in its launch week? When the 360 is getting 6,000 sales a week its pretty safe to assume it is doing miserably.

At its lowest ebb of course it looks undesirable, but you nust take into account the stubborn nature of the Japanese. It takes time for messages to get through. This report is proof that finally, the tide may be turning.

Nah I would rather take the sales figures into account than a poll. The 360 has steadily been dropping after Blue Dragon came out and the PS3 is selling 3X more each week. Microsoft really should stop pouring money into Japan it really is a waste of time for them over there

Those are sales figures.

Also you need to comprehend the nature of 360 sales in Japan. Each new title has a favorable attachment rate. What that means is that the majority of 360 owners purchase every 360 game. Conversely, PS3 software tends to sell only to 1/10th of its user base. Anyone can thus stipulate that the 360 will appear more profitable to developers even in Japan and it's only a matter of time before consumers get the message.

You can mark my words. The PS3 will be defeated by the Xbox360, on its home turf in Japan.

You forget that Blu-Ray is the Only HD format over in Asia, and also BC hurts the PS3's attach rates as well.

PS3 has Blu-Ray movies, and PS2 games working against it, like the PS2 did, but overall, they achieved greater sales numbers in a much quicker time frame. The 360 is a year and 3 months old.

I agree, it's not over, it looks horrible for M$ in Japan.

If you look at some of the posts below the original, it's just some post made by an Xbox 360 fanboy. This means that it has ZERO credibility.

I thought they lowered prices of XBOX's and 360's to like $200 360 cause it wouldn't sell in Japan. I hear people fly there to buy it on vacations.

The magazine asked readers of its Famitsu.com website which system they most played over the holiday season. While the DS was the biggest selling system over the period, Wii was apparently the most played system, taking up 244 votes. DS came next, with 185 votes, followed by the PS2 (148), Xbox 360 (146) and PSP (115). The PS3 didn't place in the top five.

---

Just me, or does this sound like a regular poll you would find on every website? Shame.

LoL why dont you propose a Vista sales pitch while your at it

If you hadent realised the reason the PS3 dosent have much of an 'attachment rate' is because it has a few good games available.

Give it up already - the 360s major selling grounds is its home turf - The US of A.
In Europe + Australia the 360 and Xbox arent / didnt sell fantastic. Good yea, but not great.
In Japan the XBox was burned, and the 360s burning.

As much as I like my Xbox and want a 360 - its true.

How much self convincing must it take to think that Msoft will outdo Sony in Japan :?
Even most die hard lems would imply flame the Japanese instead of trying to prove otherwise.
