Why is credit due?

They've been doing terribly, worse than the PS3 for almost the entire gen.

Any credit could be given to the competitors, who have at least one extremely successful platform selling tons over there.

I don't see why you're giving out credit because "they've been trying."

WAIW

This whould be a lot easier if you just said that you hate MS(or M$) and that you are not gonna say anything against the PS3

Anyway, The 360 does indeed deserve credit just for out doing itself from last gen and at least holding water against the PS3 in Japan.

now the question is can the 360 hold that position of the holiday season...

I just said the PS3 has awful sales, what more do you want?

an admission that the 360 improved over Xbox.

Of course it has. That's unquestionable, common logic. Better sales comparatively.

What I was protesting to was that it deserved credit for crawling out of last place and coming into -- you guessed it -- last place.

I think the PS3 is pretty much dead in Japan. Its been srtuggling to break 40-50000 a month for sometime now,the fact that the 360 seems to be regularly outselling it is doubly worrying for Sony.Doesn't help that SCEJ's support for the console has been almost non-exsistent though.

I don't play Sales, I play games. It's nice that M$ is making headway in Japan, seemingly, but really, they aren't. They had 3 Weeks so far, and both M$ and SONY have been doing poorly in Japan.

Meanwhile the Wii is demolishing both. Who cares, though, I play games, not sales.

As far as gaming history, I'd own you, kid.

Metsvideogame

yeah you know gaming history and you also think the PS3 is doind well in Japan. LOL Cows these days.. ohhhhh

Wow, you really don't practice reading what people type, do you. BTW : I am a bigger Xbox fan than you, but you may be a Bigger Xbox Fanboy than me. I'll let you have that.

I told you that I'd own you kid. PAY ATTENTION NEXT TIME.

Congrats to MS. We'll see where this goes in October. PS3 nor 360 have any upcoming jrpg for that month. I think LBP and Fable 2(maybe) could move consoles for both parties in Japan. Sony is beefing up their Japanese appealing games. They have 12 unheard of PS3 exclusives all published by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. An exclusive game from Konami and Irem. Not to mention White Knight, and Demon's Soul. I'm glad 360 has beaten PS3 in Japan. Now that they've been defeated, Sony isn't trying to lose in their home turf again and thanks to competition PS3 has 2 upcoming jrpg, and 14 new PS3 exclusives. Also Team ICO's game. It seems like MS, is fresh out of jrpg exclusives besides the vaporware known as Cry On. Surely they'll show something at TGS. The battle is just beginningStingerVXIII
Any linkage to this comment ? I'd like to read up on that announcement, must have missed it :(

If Blue Dragon and Tales of Vesperia gave the 360 a boost in Japan, then Valkyria Chronicles and White Knight Story could do the same for the PS3. But no guarantees.

the valkarie game all ready is out in japan for months. it gave a small boost and stopped selling after 110k. White knight should be a different story.

some of you are taking this to the extreme and you probably should stop. just because the 360 sold more in japan for 3 weeks doesn't mean its over for sony . the ps3 has sold more than the 360 all year and in japan for the majority of its life. yet the 360 is still here. think about it the 360 went from 28-14 to 10. sales are falling. why do you think sales are up because of a price drop. you lems are just setting yourselves up for ownage.

oh Lemmings, going gaga over 2k more units sold in JPN for one week. I thought JPN didnt matter???? All the sudden in is relevant when its convinient for you??? LMAO, too bad you still only have 40% of the install base as PS3 in JPN, too bad you are #3 in EU as well. Too bad next year the PS3 will overtake the 360 in LTD sales and never look back. Enjoy the "sales" while you are still considered relevant Lemmings!!!!

It's only been a month that the 360 has outsold the PS3. I'd hardly called that regularly especially since it's been only one month out of 9 months so far that this has happened.

Everyone says this isn't a big deal. You're telling me that the successor to the two best selling home consoles of all time should have EVER been outsold by a much weaker Xbox brand in it's home country?

kinda helps the PS3 is being hammered globally now. so yes, it does matter. and i'm not a lemming :).

think of it this way. sales reports for the past month or two from US, Canada, EU, Australia, etc have shown the 360 destroying the PS3 in sales, now finally on sony's home turf they beat them out for an entire month. this is huge.

japan doesn't really matter when comparing sales for regions because it is relatively small in terms of units passed, but when it's the last card in a full house of sales sweeps globally it's pretty freaking sweet. not for me personally, i don't really care, but i bet MS execs are glowing right about now. PS3 really need LBP to do something special or they're destined for a distant 3rd if this pace continues and they refuse to drop prices (as they have, publicly, several times).
