[QUOTE="Heirren"][QUOTE="sts106mat"] it got boring after you rescue glados, thats were i gave up at the propulsion gel. sts106mat
It got boring to you, which is fine, as not everything works for everybody. However, it is a MUCH better put together game than Skyrim is.
note that I didn't say it was a bad game, I praised the voice actorNeither were my favorite game, but I do think Portal 2 was the best game.
Skyrim..... Holy grail of gaming?
Peredith
I think he means what it strives for. Not the game itself. Long SP loaded with content and very fleshed out with the opportunity for a lot of playing time. Well worth your money. Not like most games that are all MP and have 4 hour campaigns
I agree. Skyrim on the PC is the best game this generation easily. All the rest is trash in comparison.

Making a Fed Ex / Hiking simulator hybrid?
Eh, same thing happened with Oblivion. Now a lot of people hate the game.foxhound_fox
People hate games after a year. Everyone hated GTAIV a year later after hype died down. A lot of people hate Twilight Princess too after hype died. *shrug*.

As for topic, I wouldn't know.
I'm too wary to play it based on all the technical issues I've heard on consoles and I don't have a good enough PC to run it.
I don't think technical issues should be overlooked that much when reviewing a game, only to a certain extent I suppose. A lot of what happens in Skyrim in terms of technical issues makes me annoyed and I don't even own the game. I'd be in a huge rage that an 85 hour file would be lost and unplayable.
There might be an amazing game under Skyrim but if it has a load of issues, it doesn't warrant "holy grail of gaming", no matter how good the game under all the mess might be.
Then again, I don't know the full extent of the issues.
I'm too wary to play it based on all the technical issues I've heard on consoles and I don't have a good enough PC to run it.HaziqonfireI am purposefully ignoring the game until the GOTY Edition comes out. I made the mistake of getting Oblivion (fortunately on PC) right after it came out, and had to suffer through terrible performance and game-breaking bugs (like the vampire cure quest). I enjoyed it, but not till it was patched, and got very good complete revamp mods (like OOO) did I love the game. I don't doubt there is a GOTG in Skyrim, it is just hidden behind glaring technical and balance issues that can really hurt the experience. Which is why I am waiting till I get a beastly PC and can fully mod it with unofficial patches before I start playing.

I've never been into Bethesda games, but Skyrim did catch my interest. It's just too bad that there's a lot of technical issues that make me aprehensive to pick it up. I really don't want to deal with 0FPS or technical issues that stop me from progressing or remove my save files.
I might wait as well until a GOTY version. Plus, as it is I have a lot of games to play. The alternative I have is I might pick up Dark Souls instead, but we'll see.
It's defiantley a great game and I'm having a blast with it, yes I'm on PS3 and over 50 hours in with no issues so far and I hope it stays that way, it seems to be different from person to person. But I don't know if it's going to be GOTY, I mean aside from the bugs it's been having I am also a little dissapointed in the length of the guilds and such. I beat the Dark Brotherhood in like 3 hours, sure they have those random/never ending quests but those get reptitive fast.
I think GOTY is between Unhcarted 3, Batman Arkham City, and Skyward Sword.
I definitely disagree on Saints Row 3. You personally might like it alot but I can almost guarantee you it wont be getting any game of the year awards. And I doubt Minecraft will be game of the year since most places didn't even review it. It's not radically different from the beta and the beta has been around for a long time.Sure but it still has stiff competition in the forms of Dark Souls,Deus Ex,Saints Row 3 (personal GOTY) and technically Minecraft as it only went 1.0 the other week.

I've played the 360 version of the game for 130+ hours and have had only the Letrush clone glitch and some minor miscellaneous quest bugs. (items not leaving inventory or enemies not respawning for bounty quests. )

The issues are overexxagerated by haters. Your missing out on one of the best games ever. Most PC and 360 owners play through it for dozens and dozens of hours with no bugs at all. Jeff Gertshman and another guy on the panel say that in this interview as well about their playthroughs of the game.I do not agree. Uncharted 3 is the holy grail of gaming and lead candidate for GOTY, sorry.
I have already spoken to the gaming gods, they have confirmed it to be true. Uncharted 3... a gods gift to man.
The issues are overexxagerated by haters.grassotallI didn't know grossly over-powered enchantments to the point of destroying any semblance of balance was an "overexaggerated" problem. I read that list Planeforger posted in another thread (minus any spoilers of course). The problems are prevalent for anyone who has ever played a role-playing game other than Elder Scrolls. And even in the GOTY Edition on consoles, Oblivion is still downright broken because of the god-awful balancing issues. You have to build a character that has "major" skills that the player never uses in order to level up with enough stat boosts to stay powerful enough to kill things once you reach the lvl. 15-20 mark.

Jeff is right though. All of its flaws are easily overllooked for everything it does right.
All of its flaws are easily overllooked for everything it does right.grassotallI don't think I've ever known an Elder Scrolls game to do something "right." It is usually just a large collection of "okay." I still don't know what I see in Oblivion. I should hate it for all the technical hoops it made me jump through, and all the grief it caused me when it would drop into the single digits for framerate. But there are very few open-world, first-person, fantasy-RPG's out there I guess. God... I couldn't imagine what greatness would come out of an Obsidian-made ES. *drools*

People who haven't played the game are still complaining about bugs?
But did anyone actually watch the damn video? Shane Satterfield Skyrim is the "holy grail". NOT Jeff Gertsmann.
Jeff did say about the technical shortcomings: "This game rises above a lot of that stuff in some fairly spectacular ways", and "This is the game to beat as far as I'm concerned." And most of us that have played the game probably agree with what he said.
I think most people still dont get it that not everyone will even get bugs. The ones you see on youtube are and see on the internet are probably not ever going to happen to you. They are isolated and specific issues, but not a bug that is necessarily going to happen in your game, even if you try to get it. It isn't a universal issue.
Of course, when we collectively find all the bugs accross the internet, its going to seem as if the game contains hundreds of bugs and is completely broken. This is really not the case.
So now we are praising broken, buggy, and glitchy games that are clearly rushed? I guess our standards as gamers have hit a new low:(

Two crashes in 95 hours, no quests that would not finish and only one time it slowed down... been runnign very well for me so far.

I am dreamign for DLC for Skyrim that is made by Obsidian.
Did you play OLD WORLD BLUES DLC for Fallout New Vegas? Was just amazing, best DLC ive ever played. If BEthesda could get Obsidian to do some DLC like that for SKyrim Id be in heaven.
[QUOTE="eboyishere"]
IDK, Dark Souls and Arkham City might say otherwise
kozzy1234
Skyrim destroys both those games imo, especially Dark Souls.
AC is pretty amazing though I gotta say.
I have 1/ Skyrim 2/ Batman AC 3/ Portal 3[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]

I would recomend playing the game first.. Ive played over 95 hours on the PC version and only had 2 crashes and one slowdown, No issues with quests not working or anythign else.
Also played about 25 hours of the xbox360 version and its surprisingly better then I expected.
The ps3 version is the only one Ive noticed big issues on.
Its hands down the most polished Bethesda game yet, at least for me.
Only two carshes and one slowdown in almost 100 hours? Much better then Fallout3/Oblivion.
Not to mention its ALOT more fun to me personally then F3 or Oblivion, Bethesda has realy surprised me with Skyrim, I hated F3 and Oblivion but I am loving Skyrim. Its like they took 90% of the issues I had with Oblivion and fixed them
There's a lot of bashing because of what Bethesda did to the Ps3 version. You can't blame Sony players for being upset.I don't go on this forum for two weeks and suddenly everybody hates Skyrim. Did DICE make a new RPG or something?

Alot of the people have not even played the game yet which cracks me up. Atleast try the game first before saying all these bad thigns about it.
Saying its FORSURE NOT GOTY or GOTG, yet they have not even played any time on it.

lol....ridiculous
Im up there with the people that agree.
Issues and bugs aside, Skyrim impressed me greatly. And this is the first Elder Scrolls game I play.
But ofcourse the gameplay leaves much to be desired. If you can ignore that and the bugs, Skyrim definitely deserves to be GOTY candidate.
