I think MS should have P2P online on silver membership and Dedicated Servers option on Gold membership, atleast for all MS Published games. I mean Sony supports dedicated servers for their published games FOR FREE and the PS3 is supposedly a big "failure". You would think MS with its great success and getting yearly fees paid, could atleast give us that much.II_Seraphim_II

Because paying for online is a joke. Only those who are deluded into thinking it makes the service better (when everything else is free with a Silver membership) believe that paying $50 a year, which could go towards another whole game is "worth it."

1) no other gaming platform charges you a fee just to get online. Yes some games charge a subscription service, but that's different. In addition to internet fees I now have to pay a fee just to use my internet for ANY game I want to play online with friends? Lame. Especially when the competition (PC, PS3, Wii) all allow me to play games online with no connectivity fee.

2) The services were once vastly superior to the competition. This is not true anymore at least with the PS3. PSN is still inferior to Live, but not so inferior to justify a 50 dollar price tag.

3) It's a frigging recession. People are losing their homes. Everyone is cutting costs here and there. Why, oh why, do I have to take money that could go to anything but more specifically to a BRAND NEW GAME and pay a YEARLY fee just to get online? That's uber lame. Super lame.

4) I plan on owning my PS3 for a long time. I'm not buying a new system for a good minute. I didn't just come across the money to buy a launch 60 gig. I had to sell my PS2, Xbox, all my games, eat Raman Noodles for a month, and sacrifice all kinds of stuff to pay the bill. But, the fact that I don't pay that 50.00 bucks that a 360 launch console owner paid means that I actually paid less than he did (assuming his system hasn't broken on him) despite my console costing more. The reason is that fee for Xbox live. If MS ever makes Xbox live gold free, I will run, not walk, to a store and pick up a 360. Until then, I'll continue to complain about the yearly fee. It's a rip off to gamers and we shouldn't stand for it.

Like everyone els says its retarted that I have to pay more money to get a piece of content I already paid for. If I pay 60 bucks for my game that has online I should get it for that 60 bucks and not have to pay more money in order to play online. This isint a MMO dammit. Its looks even worse when everyone els charges NOTHING. If im right MS tried to be slcik and make people pay for certain PC games,but it backfired since the PCcommunity went freaking nuts. They had every right to do so. Im sorry,butiv experianced live and in my opinion it aint worth the price tag.

People whine because xbl isnt as good as psn in performance... I mean cmon you pay 50 bucks a year and you cant even have dedicated servers or even support up to 30 players. The only pros that xbl has is better community and more features such as party chat. But dedicated servers are better then both community and features.

If you pay for and buy it, then you have every right to complain. For some, $50/year may not match the type of features/services they feel justifies that price. For others, its a drop in a bucket, The issue I have is that a great majority of these threads are made by people who don't even own 360's, and therefore have no legitimate reason to complain about its price. At the end of the day, if someone is worried about how you spend your $, there's probably not too much going on in their lives anyway.

It's the principle that bothers me, moreso than the fee. And it's no longer superior to it's main competitor as far as I'm concerned. But we've had a lot of threads about this recently, I'm starting to think there should be a sticky.Floppy_Jim

Well... I decided to do all my online gaming on PC. It's better and free.

Because it should be free. I pay for my internet and I pay for my game and the content on it, with this I'm being payed extra to access content I've already paid for get, get it? Also its just going to get worse, e.g RE5. Thats an even bigger joke.

If you buy RE5 on the 360 you are getting a worse deal then PS3 owners.

You buy the game. Then Capcom charge you to play online which should have been in the game. Then Microsoft charge you to play online again when you've already been screwed over. So basically, you're paying 3 times to access what you should get when you buy the game. How can anyone accept that.

Why is there lots of threads about this all over SW, this only proves that xbox live users need to justify the $50 a year they have to pay, if you say oh it's a little bit or oh it's worth it then don't make a thread about it, that just makes you look like you have to defend the 50 bucks you waste a year. If it was like $5- $10 it would be cool but it's not you have to think about it this way you pay blank ammount of money for internet service then you have to pay for another service that don't even use their own servers.

In other countries the price is from $60+. I can spend that money on a game and play online for free on PSN.

I don't pay 50 dollars or anything for a year since I rarely have time to play it online it won't be worth my money if I did so. i usually get like month or so subcriptions when I know I will be able to play for extended periods of time and if I know friends are going to be playing a game online a lot. I'm not really complaining since I shell out more money on shoes in a few months than I probably will on Live in my lifetime but I get the same main feature I'm using on Live for free on my PC and PS3 games which is just to play online!
