I think I'm gonna cry:(

She can't be really dead. They're building up a major plot twist.

There has to be some kind of plot twist. Jill is one of the main characters in the series, there's no way they can just kill her off like that and then show it to everyone through a trailer.

She's one of my favourite characters...She can't die...:(

Pure speculation : since there was no foreshadowing whatsoever about Jill's upcoming death, we can only assume RE5 either : 1) Completely F'd up the story under the guide of "plot twist", does a full blown Chris punch into the entire script and threw it into the fire. Whether she's dead or not doesn't matter : just a plot hole to piss us off. 2) Misdirection by the trailer. They want us to think that way, but only to mislead us into thinking of all sorts of theories getting blown out of proportion that will simply just get knocked out of the interwebs when the game comes out. 3) Jill dies within the RE5 storyline. The tombstone scene is either a dream sequence or something that happens within the events of RE5. 4) If what people say is true, the character of Jill is not going to "appear" in RE5. It may be that she may have "disappeared" for a certain time period, and after that span of time has expired, she was officially declared "dead". I know there is some sort of legal protocol in real life where if a person disappears for an extended period of time, the government simply declares the "vanished" under the "death" status, and generate a death certificate out of it.

Not suprised at all. Capcom has wierd continuity problems with their games and whether they intentionally do this or its a coincidence that there becomes plotholes or events like this is not suprising to me.

If you ever played Mega Man Zero 3 and then Mega Man Zero 4 you're probably wondering. Hey what happened to Harpuia, Leviathan, and Fefnir? Oh wait the games never explained in the games.

"Harpuia, Fefnir, and Leviathan made no appearance in Mega Man Zero 4 and wasn't mentioned either. However, prior to the Japanese release of the game, a web blog entry of the developers stated that X, along with the Four Guardians, assisted humans outside Neo Arcadia in escaping Dr. Weil. However, with the release of Mega Man Zero Official Complete Works, the blog was retconned as the remaining three of the Four Guardians were stated to have died in the explosion of Omega at the end of Mega Man Zero 3."

Yup another Capcom explanation not even in the game. Hell remember Albert Wesker in Resident Evil 1? Yup we were let wondering what the heck happened until the Code Veronica explained that and then they later changed that outcome in REmake for Gamecube. This is typical Capcom being Capcom.
