I wonder if Sony regrets selling off Sony Online Entertainment aka Daybreak Game Company. They definitely could have been useful to Sony by releasing their games on PC
@Pedro: I think you're ignoring what you know about me based on previous discussions in here.
The entire point of having systems is to play the games on them that you can't play elsewhere. If you wanted to play Mario, you had to have Nintendo. If you wanted Sonic (back in the day) you had to have Sega. If you wanted Uncharted, you had to have a Playstation. If you wanted Halo, you had to have an Xbox...
For the longest time, this is how it was. So aside from Nintendo... now all games go to PC. So I ask again... with Playstation taking this path... WTF is the point of buying a PS5 to those that have a capable PC? There is no point.
Sure, this is the point for them, our corporate overlords.
But **** them. Death to corporations. Bring down the wall of exclusivity!
I want to play any game on whatever platform I want. Death to exclusives!
Why people defend marketed exclusives is beyond me. I just don't get it. It doesn't hurt you. If you want to play on Playstation you can still play on Playstation, it doesn't diminish your experience if someone can also play it on PC or Xbox or Nintendo. If anything it probably expands it because crossplay might help expand the community (in the case of online play).

That is my sentiment. Game where you want on what you want.
@mrbojangles25: I agree with you as long as Nintendo keeps all of their own exclusive on their own consoles then I'm happy. I want there to always be a reason and a purpose for someone to buy a Nintendo console. Let sony be the one to jump off the cliff with Microsoft and go down the path that you are suggesting which I don't fault them for doing either. I just don't want Nintendo doing it.

You can't agree with him if you believe in the bold. You are the problem he is talking about.
@Pedro: I don't think he cares about Nintendo anyway just like the vast majority of the people on this site. They're probably happy that Nintendo exclusives are tied to Nintendo systems and not one PC.

My ideal world is console manufacturers would make consoles and, I suppose, the OS that runs on them....and that's where it ends.
After that it's an open market. Console is just another device to play on, not a marketing tool. They could still charge their royalty or whatever of course (they need some source of income) but none of this crap we have going on now.
I don't want to hear another corporate suit name dropped like he is some sort of champion of gaming.

You are wrong about that.
He is indeed. Would love to play Zelda on PC. Would love to see other titles on Switch. I think Factorio would do very well on Switch, for example, especially multiplayer.
I want to share games on all platforms.
Hermits trying to gas light people in to believing exclusives are a bad thing, when in fact without them there would only be PC.
I would quit gaming if that were my only option, and so would a lot of people. Then you'd be back to having gaming as a very niche hobby.
@shadyacshuns: why would there only be PC? Doesn't your own post belie that argument?
Well if all games are on PC, but not on Playstation, Switch, Xbox etc. then why would anyone buy them? It wouldn't be that way if say, Sony games were also on Nintendo and the like, but what most hermits are talking about is just console games coming to PC, not a free for all for every system.
@shadyacshuns: People who don't want to game on PC will buy consoles, even if there are no exclusive games. Plus, every gamer in the world would benefit if all games are multiplats.
@shadyacshuns: I missed something - why are the games not on PlayStation, Switch, Xbox? I thought we were talking about them no longer being exclusive, not them getting pulled from the platform
They're not being pulled from anything, but if I buy a Playstation console, I can't play Nintendo games or Xbox games, but if I get a PC I can play all games? Who would ever buy any of those systems but PC going forward?
No one. Sony and Nintendo would fail and drop out of the hardware business because they depend on exclusives to push their hardware. So yeah, put all games on all systems or let's just keep the current system we have in place.

Yeah I agree if I could, say, buy a beefy Steam Deck and legally purchase Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox and PC games for it at the store, or a console that did all that, or a PC. Never gonna happen though.
This news is pretty huge.
Is there any reason to get a PS5 then?
If there is one thing I have in infinite amounts, it's patience. I don't really care about playing a game day one. PC version all the way.
If your primary platform is PC, then no.
@mrbojangles25: I want there to always be a reason and a purpose for someone to buy a Nintendo console.
Why?
Yes...why?
There's a millions reasons and purposes for someone to buy a product, they don't need exclusives added to that list.
So PC just won System Wars final boss?
Until Nintendo finally bends the knee😈
They will. 😈
Ideally yes, but they are the most stubborn of the bunch.
