Just bought a PS3 w/ 15 FREE Blu-Ray movies. . .

I never thought I'd see the day as a Wii60 owner, and truth be told I don't see too many games in the PS3's future as a gaming machine right now. But Little Big Planet and Killzone 2 look like they'll be a lot of fun. Plus, Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted look like fun that can be had right now.

No I bought a PS3 to get a Blu-Ray player w/ the potential as a gaming machine, and I got it today at Wal-Mart with 15 FREE movies, 10 in store, and 5 more by mail. It was the 80GB PS3 with Motorstorm packed in for $500. Here is what I got:

I was going to buy a PS3 for 349 usd.

But I couldn't do it.

I don't believe Sony is a good game company, their just lucky to have gotten where they are.

Maybe when it goes down to 299 usd. So people stop buying it !

Yeah, if you're just figuring out that PS3 plays DVD, blu-ray, and streams movies from your PC, you need to read a little more. And if you still haven't figured out that PS3 is a gaming console, with Uncharted being the "best looking console game ever", you shouldn't call yourself a gamer.

Doesn't mean they care more about PS3 as a movie player than as a gaming machine. Sony, as other Blu-ray supporters, are trying to get Blu-Rays on the market. The more the consumer has of the product, the likely they will suffocate HD-DVD enthusasists to convert over due to the sheer majority. Not to mention it gives more incentive to buy the console, reminding the consumer that it also is a next gen format player, thus getting two items for one. They would be incredibly idiotic to not do so, catering only to gaming fans (Though they do give us some incentive with the Motorstorm/Resistance bundles). Yes, gaming is what it's used for in the eyes of gamers but not casuals who like to do both.

It's a force feed to consumers to adapt to a new generation of formats. Just like howDVDs were pushed. Doesn't anyone remember how many deals were out then by companies with the hardware?

I'm hard on Sony but I am a gamer to the core, so I did not buy the PS3 just for movies. Uncharted and Ratchet are already on my must buy list, and Little Big Planet looks like the most imaginative thing since the original Mario Bros. When I first saw that game is when I became very jealous of PS3 owners, now I am one so its all good.

Also, I already own a HD-DVD player for the 360. Yes, I am a massive puppet of the HD wars since I own both formats now, but I love movies too much not to see them in full 720p/1080p glory.

Also, if anyone is interested, this sale/offer was part of Wal-Marts secret sales that they show on their website, so there is no weekly ad or anything, so call them and check it out, it should apply to all Wal-Marts.

As for the guy above, Die Hard, The Prestige, American Psycho, Pixar movies, and Casino Royale just mediocre blockbuster movies? Really? I thought The Prestige and Amercian Psycho are some of the most interesting films of the past few years.

I agree Sipder-Man 3, the second Pirates movies, and the 4th Die Hard are mediocre blockbuster movies. But I don't know, I though I did pretty good overall.

So you got Motorstorm and 15 free br movies for $500? That's a Damn good deal if you ask me... But My only question is do you have an HDTV? because if you don't the deal is pratacally worthless..
