How is the leveling system a problem in this game?
StealthMonkey4
While I am glad level scaling wont be as bad as it was in Oblivion chances are I am going to hate it here as well, I also disliked it in Fallout 3.
I dislike Level Scaling for 2 reasons. 1. In a worst case scenario it removes any danger from the world 2. It makes levelling a lot less rewarding.
There was no level scaling in Fallout 3, they simply removed the really strong monsters from the game until you leveled up a bit, it reduces some realism so it's a lot less frustrating. I couldn't imagine why someone would enjoy being murdered by a monster with 10x your health that kills you in one hit.
Agreed. I like the sense of danger to a certain extent. When I first played Fallout New Vegas, I remember venturing out Goodspring only to see a Deathclaw slaughter a group of powder gangers and than jump at me and kill me in one hit.
Combat that looks badMaroxad
The combat looks fine to me.
I just think they're pushing it too hard and trying to go down the ME 2 road.
I am skeptical. I hated Oblivion for the awful character graphics, the crummy equipment, and the combat system.
If that's changed in Skyrim, I will get it.

That is a form of level scaling.
As for the spears being too hard to animate, I cant find a link for it anymore, basicly what was said was that they were too hard to animate well. However he did mention it in a gameinformer article.

Level scaling prevents frustration, Oblivion's level scaling was overboard, but I don't see how Fallout 3's was bad, the enemies didn't scale, just the strong enemies tat could one hit kill you weren't available until later.

The problem with that was that since the strong enemies werent there, I was free to go whereever I wanted to because the stronger enemies were not there for some magical reason meaning I could go anywhere without a fear of danger. I had no sense of danger while exploring Fallout 3. I had no satisfaction exploring the world.
What if I wanted to face these strong enemies at a low level? What if I want to overpower low level enemies?

There are still stronger and weaker enemies, there were many places you couldn't go as a low level. The only thing different was whether strong enemies (Albino Rad Scorpions, Super Mutant Overlords, etc). randomly spawned as you were exploring the Wasteland.

While I didnt explore everything at a low level, not once did I feel challanged or threatened by the environment, if I saw an enemy I could take it down. This are areas that were filled with Deathclaws later on I explored as well.
I took out a Super Mutant at level 2 on Very Hard.
You sir.. Are on mah list!! :PMorrowind and Oblivion bored me to death.
I'm sure this game will be the same.

I didn't think it was so easy, I thought it was pretty balanced. It sounds like you're talking about the game's general difficulty rather than level scaling.

Level scaling is a part of the reason I found Fallout 3 to be so easy. While you are entitled to enjoy level scaling, I and a lot of other RPG fans dont. It basicly breaks the purpose of levelling up in the first place.
I'm gonna have to wait and see, it looks good but oblivion bored me to sleep. I seriously hope there's less grind and more "funness" than that miserable game.javafriekdid u see the vid of the guy kill zombies with double weilding swords then call up a storm and strike down a dragon with lightning?

I highly doubt it. To the point that the thing that excites me the most is that Fallout 4 will have a fancy new engine. Bethesda needs to hire a bunch of modders out of the community since they seem to know how to make the game better than the actual developers.
Umm, you will like it. The locations are far more varied. Each of the caves are unique. No more repetitive caves like Obvlivion.Im worried about the battle system as oblivion's was awful and this looks the same. Also I don't think there will be over 300 hours of gameplay. If there is it will get really repetitive and boring. But I really do hope im wrong. Looks like it has great potential

The developers have been promising imaginative environs like there were in Morrowind, but I have not seen anything in recent trailers which suggest anything near as awesome or far fetched. I'm tired of nitty, gritty Tolkein in my rpgs. Give me High-fantasy! Or steampunk.....Vandalvideo
YES! We need more steampunk RPGs!
Getting worse than Oblivion would be an achievement. So no, I don't doubt Skyrim. It can only be "up" from where it was.foxhound_foxMy sentiments exactly.
Games like this are not my thing so im not gonna bother purchasing it, i wouldnt mind trying if they release a demo tho
