[QUOTE="Sony-ismy-Homey"][QUOTE="the_h_bomb"]looks very generic IMHO but it could be good. I have high hopes considering it's SakaguchiVandalvideo

generic? the only game that look generic is final fantasy xiii.

So a game that's doing completely different things and evolving gameplay is generic now lol.

Final Fantasy evolving the JRPG genre? *Falls out of his chair laughing* No, no no really? Are you serious?

FFXIII will follow FFXII's footsteps and continue improving the gameplay unlike the rest of jrpgs which aren't really changing. It will have split screen and possible online. You will be able to use espers for more than just summoning them.

Toriyama said the battle system is still considered an ATB system complete with time flowing by as you input commands. However the actual means of input has changed a bit and according to Tsuchida will now allow for more control options
Nomura said Final Fantasy Versus XIII players should be able to fight in areas with great differences in height, similar to the trailers, fully using the area.

Nomura and his team are conducting tests on the games battle mechanics. Although you will not be able to freely warp to any point of the battle field you will be able to warp to the location where you place or throw your sword.

So yeah its evolving the gameplay and actually changing.

considering we've seen what, 5 seconds of possible gameplay footage , i don't see how you could make that claim good sir

I've been following the game since it was first shown. I have numerous scans and images and details of what the game will be like.

SonyIsMy...ummm...if you've played and completed the game, why exactly did you pre-order another copy?

Why do all the people who claim to have defeated LO have no gamertag posted, and have registered within the last couple days?

I can't wait.I'm having a very hard time deciding whether to get Lost oddysey,No more heroes,Burnout,Devil may cry,or continue saving up for a better video card. -sighs- I thought the holidays were gone.killab2oo5

I'll make the choice for you. You're a gamer: buy games. You could buy all of those games for the price of that graphics card.

I'm dying here. This is the only game right now that has me giving the slightest interest towards the XB360. All the other good 360 games I have them on PC anyway, and Mass Effect and its so called "controversial coupling scene" can easily be substituted with a good dose of The Witcher, where they take the term "coupling" quite a notch up (still quite clean imo, though).

There seems to be a JRPG drought towards this generation of consoles : Eternal Sonata and Blue Dragon were the only notable JRPG titles (and my notable I mean, "known", not necessarily the best). Lost Odyssey should be quite a stepup from there.

You speak the truth so I like you, but between you and me, Mass Effect isn't about getting laid. The story it's self is one of the best sci-fi tales I ever played. I'm playing Eternal Sonata at the moment and it's pretty darn good. Not the best, but worth investing time in it.

Exactly as you say my friend. I wouldn't have mentioned The Witcher without recognizing its sheer depth and enjoyable story. Mass Effect is a great game to have on the X360 (I've played it for a couple hours at a friend's), but easily substituted by an equally (or moreso) enjoyable RPG such as the Witcher for the no-360-if-I-have-a-PC owner.

And I'd probably pick up Eternal Sonata because I am confident I would enjoy it, were I to get an 360. I don't rely too much on scores when it comes to JRPGs, as their tastes are different between western gamers and eastern gamers. And since I like JRPGs a lot, even flops like the Legend Of Dragoon on PS1 are AAA materials to me.

I'm excited about LO even if it scores a 7.5, Jrpg's usually always have mixed reviews. Look at all the gems that the PS2 had which were in the low 7-8 range on gamespot(I own almost all of them). I even enjoyed BD even though the story was light hearted and marumaru downright made me feel uncomfortable. The battle system was really fun even though the game was on the medium to easy side.

I completely undertsand where you're at. I never heard of "the witcher" but I might look into it now just because I'm curious. I feel the same way about JRPGs. I don't really care what people say about them. They're usually always fun in their own unique way. And this might sound old school, but 4 disc games just really get me excited.

The more discs, the better! JRPGs' strong point, from my perspective, is heavily based on its storyline. A poor storyline in an RPG, even with good gameplay, heavily detracts on the overall enjoyment and value of the title. When a JRPG is more than 3 Discs, I can only hope for nothing less than a spectacular epic story.

It is quite unfortunate for people to brush aside hidden gems simply because they don't have the graphical flare "graphics junkies" are so high into.

And "watching" a JRPG in action is nothing, I literally mean NOTHING compared to having played one fully yourself. Modern JRPGs tend to be only perceptible to players who are used to the genre, with a sense that can detect how its mechanics work.
It isn't like FPS games where you can get the gist of the action through the gameplay footage : JRPGs are fun in their grand scale and scope on things, especially story, something that simply cannot be captured through simple live feeds and trailers, but that requires an actual playthrough to understand its worth.

Has Sonyismyhomey suddenly tranformed into some type of Xbox 360 loving person? I remember your posts from awhile ago. You were the worst type of fanboy in these forums. Don't tell me you've actually turned into a real gamer and not some Sony loving trollish fanboy. (If this is the same person that is.)

If you did then congratulations.

The asian version is it has english text and you can choose between japanese/english/korean voices

IMO the japanese are the best

Now that is a good feature... Japanese voices always tend to be better than the dubs.

I feel like JRPG's usually tend to be movies. The lack of great agmeplay really effects its fun value, if it has a piss poor story. Also, graphics are a major part of the game. You feel more immersed if the graphics are better, or the design is better. What is the difference between a boring, and fun jrpg? The attacks, and everything is usually the same for all jrpgs. Except possibly the latest square enix/level 5 games, which have some sort of real time gameplay. It is just about the graphics, and story. So I feel like a jrpg can be simply watched as a movie. Especially in case for LO, which doesn't play anything different to legend of the dragoon, a 10 year old game.

Well you obviously don't fancy that genre but believe me, there's a lot more to them than graphs my friend. And anyways I really don't see anything wrong with how the game looks from what I've seen. It's not state-of-the-art but it's pretty damn nice. Then again this is coming from a guy who still thinks Fallout 2 is the best game ever created and can still compete with anything new. Believe me you don't play that game for the graphics.

I still do not get how the first guy who posted that he completed the game, won't post his gamertag,
and spelled the name of the freakin game he just spent 50+ hours completing wrong...

Then the sonyis...guy...well...he "completed" the game, but, then announced he was pre-ordering it, won't post his gamertag, and avoided all gamertag questions, like the first guy.

Has anyone actually tried the game? And how is it, if you have?

heh I still have "Legend of Dragoon." Time sure flies. I hope that LO will turn out to be a good game. I am craving for good JRPG with mature story to play. I thought about getting BD or ES, but REZ HD should tide me over until LO.

Some games are. This is compatibale in PAL and NTSC J. Basically everywhere but the US.

I love seeing the PAL regions getting love they so sorely deserve. I want to shoot the mother f***er who decided to stagger releases for the different region standards.

look dont mean to put anyone down here, but from what i have read/seen about this game...It looks like we are in for another episode of Blue Dragon. This game is way too generic. I know people hate the Final Fantasy series and all, but SquareEnix is evolving. They know that the old school JRPG turnbased system is played out, so they are constantly bringing out new battle systems to keep their games fresh. LO, from what i have seen, plays like it comes from the FFVII era. While that was all cool back then, nowadays its a little dated. But i must tip my hatto the jaw dropping visuals. As for the techinical issues that everyone seems to complain about...well, i cant comment on that because no dev in their right mind would ever release a trailer showcasing how broken their engine is :P

Judging a game you havent even played isnt fair dont you think? LO probably has the best story i have yet to see in a video game at all (i am barely through the first disc, but what i have seen is really great). And your right, it playes like a FF game between 7 and 10. But may i remind you that those were by far the best of the series? The battle system in XII made the game more appealing to new "western" gamers, but to me it was a clear fail. So your "evolution theory" clearly fails if you ask me :)

Another positive point to mention about LO is the characters. They have heart, they have backround and you really care for each single one of them. Not like in FFXII. Its more like FFX where i really happened to fall in love with some of them. The story in LO is damn emotional, much more like you would imagine by hearing the phrase "emotional" (ummm yeah). Thats probably the most negative point you could see for some people. Its a game for people who have a sense for emotional stuff like that. Others will say "yeah, what?".

Graphics arent that impressive though. Nonetheless the game itself shines on its own and its a gem not to be missed. For me it is what FFXII should have been and its the damn best JRPG you could play right now. Thats fact :)

To everyone out there who enjoyed FF: Try LO! Its all you loved about your FF games and its probably the best way to shorten the waiting time for XIII or to even completely forget about it.

LanDC77 as far as i can judge the english voice acting is pretty good. I am no natural english speaker, but i think the voices fit the characters pretty well.

I like it actually, despite , a character named J*****, who says "Gr*** St***" in a strange way by raising his voice till the end of the phrase :) Sounded kinda funny and appeared pretty often in one scene. hehe
