It such a let down that COO got 8.5 here while all other sites gave it AAA rating. Even though COO is totally different game than MGSIV and on different system... Maybe MGSIV will suffer the same fate... GS will find something in the game that will keep it from getting AAA here :(

because everything you said you look so great doing it. it is awesome to see how you kill each enimy in a differant way. plus story is always the plus in god of war also.

I'm not expecting MGS4 to score all that great on Gamespot either. My guess is about a 8.0. But hey, I said that about No More Heroes and we all know how that one turned out...

Handhelds games don't have to be short. I understand your point, but I also understands GS's point. 7 hours is short. Handhelds are more sophisticated than before and with the ability to save, games can and should be longer. Also, it appears to be nothing new. While I may not agree with the rationale, GS appears to be docking games lately for these things. 8.5 is still a solid score btw. I have the game pre-ordered and look forward to picking it up today!

He also said it added no new gameplay features and felt a little watered down. A 6 hour watered down prequel to a 9.2 game definately deserves an 8.5.

MGS4 will probably get 9.0 and deserve 9.5. Obviously going to have a great single player and MGS Online should be great too. If they give it 8.5 that's the last straw for Gamespot bias.
It will be interesting to see what they give it since I don't really see any consistency in their rating. Remember, Uncharted got marked down for being too hard, NG didn't, R&C:ToD got marked down for being too easy, and there are other examples. GeoW didn't get marked for being a short game (beat it easily on normal in near 7hrs first try) GoW:CoO did. It doesn't seem like their is a criteria for how they rate games.

I think both MGS4 and SSB deserve 10. But I doubt either one will get a 10. If either SSBB or MGS4 get a 9.0 I will highly discredit Gamespot. 9.5 no less :D.

You'd at least expect it to give the same amount of gameplay as the first one. Seven hours is weak, even if (being a psp game) it's not as big of a rip off as heavenly sword.
8.5 bad man i guess then 9.5 is the new 10. Plus gamespot lost about 3/4 of its staff so i mean i wouldn't be so trustworthy with their reviews right now.
I had to accept a long time ago that whoever eventually reviews MGS4 on this site might not love it, and might not even like it. But should that really effect me? Just because it may not get "AAA" doesn't mean it won't be a AAA experience for me. I know I will enjoy it, so I'm not going to get all hung up over a review.
Gamespot needs to reevaluate the people they put on certain games. Aaron Thomas is a primarily a sports game reviewer yet you put him on to review 2 action adventure games that he will not like as much as a person who is a fan of that genre. Tools of Destruction and Chains of Olympus are perfect examples. I really hope they give SSBB AAA status and the same with MGS4. You shouldn't be harsher on your review scale just because everyone else loves the game lol. Review it for what it is.

MGS4 won't get a 10 here, you're kidding yourself. There isn't a single game that has a chance of getting a 10 this gen that has been announced. If you really think that MGS4 or Brawl will get a 10, you're a fanboy.
I will say, however, that GameSpot will give Brawl and MGS4 a low AAA-score at least.
I may go crazy.
