just replayed FF6 and its become apparent why FF7 - FF10 are superior now

i beat FF6 a while ago so i went to replay it i got up to mt. kolts to fight vargas

and the dialogue is ultra cheesy, the graphics are terrible,

for example kefka saying "son of a submariner" what the heck is with that???

everything just seems so kiddy compared to FF7-FF10

and BTW graphics do matter the bad graphics just hurt the immersiveness of games

The awkward translations have always been a part of the charm of JRPGS, imo. Back when FF6 was originally made (when it was FFIII), swears were generally not allowed in video games, and if you think that is kiddy, get off the forums, because i can't say son of a ***** here either.

Really? I'd argue that good 2D graphics look better than terrible 3D graphics...

the storyline isnt nearly as good in FF6 as FF7, FF9 and FF10

the dialogue is cheesy, and the story and characters jsut have so little depth to them'

like kefka for example doesnt even get any depth until the final battle where he reveals everything is meaningless and his motivations

then you got a cast of like 14 characters and only 3 or 4 get good storylines like celes, locke, and terra

Same here. Granted, the only "canon" FF game I've played after it is FFXII, but I'd play the others if I could.

Of VI through X I would favor this list:

1. VIII
2. VI
3. VII
4. X
5. IX

Discuss what? That the graphics of an older game is bit paler than another game's graphics with newer technology behind it. Perhaps it the fact that its an older game had some bit of cheesy talk in it compared to sheer enjoyment behind it, the video game market was not has precise with script.

I agree.

6 is generally the favorite of people who prefer oldschool games and others who are just threatened by change. It was good, probably the best of the 2D FF's, but by no means the best of the series. Regardless of my or any one person's opinion, the winner is 7 for obvious reasons. Personally I think a big part of the reason is that all of the characters and the story had a cool factor that no other FF has been able to reproduce.

No it's not kiddy, its just you because of the 2D graphics. Although I do agree I find FF7,8 and 10 much better than other (2D FF) the 2D ones were stunning also. And they were far from kiddy. FF6 had a excellent scenario.

1. snes game....system was for kids= no cursing.

2.6 had way better charaters=ff7 had ok character>ff 10 had card borad cut outs with personality.

3.6 had beast villian and story.......better than 7's mama boy and 10's moron that died twice before the game ended.

FFX is overrated. It has a really good story, but it was a bit too linear and the gameplay for the most part didn't really do anything new. FFXII was better IMO.

Anyway, maybe it's hard for you to understand, but FF6 is an older game so it's OBVIOUS that its graphics aren't as good. I personally liked FF6 more than FFX, FFVII, and FFVIII, just because the villain was not a girly man, there was no main character and all the characters shared an equal role(roughly), and the villain actualy succeeded. How is the end of the world kiddy again? Not sure what you're talking about there. Kefka poisons a river to kill an entire kingdom, men, women, and children. How is that kiddy? Or maybe you just don't like it because it was a Nintendo FF, and as we all know, Nintendo games automatically equal kiddy. :P

Going from my first FF...FFX to FF7>8>9 then FF1>4>5>6>3 i enjoyed all of them,not because of the graphics but because of the story,characters,music and the battle systems,FF is about so much more than graphics,to say FF6 isn't as good as FF7 and onwards just because of it's technical limitations is BS.

2D holds a charm of it's own which 3d will never be able to compete with,FF6 is the 3rd best FF imo,my all time fav being FFX,followed by FF8.

ive forgotten which one is six. is that the one where the intro involves some characters in powerful mech suits? if its the one i think it is then, yea that was a pretty good game.

still FF7 was my fav (probably because it was the first one i played). i also like FF3 (though dam does it need alot of grinding and the lack of direction is bad). its just a shame the series is so hit and miss imho. i rate the ones ove played as follows:

3 good

7 classic

6 very good....if its the one i think it is :S.

8 rubbish

10 rubish

10-2 very rubbish

12 pretty good.

i must get my mits on FF9 at some stage....i hear good things about it. hopefully some of the older FF games will also come to the VC.
