Kamiya Has a Small Issue With Scalebound's GC Presentation

Mate, PS4 aint doing so hot in Japan either, they got kicked out by Wii U. Wii U owns Japan now. Selling in Japan is no easy feat.

It would be smart of them, Sony has literally everything practically going their way with intense JP support incoming. If kamiya actually wants to kill some of the rumors surrounding his game with actual controlled gameplay and MS just want to use him as a talking head/ bullet point attached to some weak ass promo video bullshit, there's going to be problems.

Kamiya probably doesn't want to deal with the fallout of another Wonderful 101 copies sold. Hopefully that's all and it's not MS actually affecting how much say so he gets in the development of a game he has his name attached to.

My question is how is it he had no clue how his game was going to be marketed? I always assumed there was a roadmap drawn out when developers/publishers write these contracts detailing the terms and how the marketing team was gonna promote the game. He went public complaining about the artwork microsoft picked when the game was announced ..went public complaining about his role at E3..now he's complaining about how the game is shown at Games con and his role at the event.

What the hell? is it possible he didn't know what he was signing up for?

Again, stop putting up a narrative where your gods in suits are never wrong. They're notorious for the way they treat devs, they've pissed, trembled and destroyed devs. This guy is a legend that's making you an exclusive, wants nothing but to please you as his fans before the suits. Why Kamiya chose a shitty console like the Bone for Scalebound is bound to bite him in the ass. If this were on PS4, doubtless, he'd be jubilant about the presentation as they'd respectfully showcase this game whilst giving due credit. Seems like all SWs does is hate on the GodstationQuad.

Maybe if Sony wasn't being run into the ground by morons they could afford to pay Kamiya and get a game like Scalebound on the PS4, it's really Sony's own fault for being incompetent when it comes to running a business

You're missing out on the definitive gaming experience by convincing yourself you have all your gaming needs and somehow skipping the PS4, when it has the most exclusives of the best quality. On a side note, at least you saved yourself from total mediocrity by owning the Wii U. I think the Wii U's actually a good console...but what on earth were you thinking by getting an underpowered Bone?

@mesome713: PS4 is doing OK in Japan and will do even better when games like Dragon Quest XI, FFXV, KHIII and FFVII Remake release. It lead in sales by a large amount this past week so not sure why you are trying lie like the Wii U is dominating there.

Hey, do what you will. I just don't see the justification in owning an Xbox One, when it doesn't have exclusives, is underpowered, has a terrible UI, and sucks at loading apps, it's basically only good for Youtube, Netflix, Hulu Plus or TV box.

Then you bring up PC....wow. How embarrassing is it to own underpowered garbage accompanied by a PC? Especially when you can play 99 percent of so-called Xflop exclusives on PC. That makes no sense.

Stage shows are so 2000s. They should let Kamiya do a presentation on the game like The Wonderful 101 Direct. It seemed like he enjoyed doing that.

@mesome713: Yes 3DS dominates, but not Wii U. Any way once games like Dragon Quest XI, FFXV, FFVII Remake, Kingdom Hearts III, Street Fighter V, Dark Souls III etc start releasing PS4 sales will rise.

Square Enix in particular is pushing it hard.

Japan will not care for Dragon Quest XI on PS4 since all the Dragon Quest games are already on Nintendo consoles. Kingdom Hearts doesnt sale good in Japan, guess not their thing. Bloodborne didnt help PS4 at all in Japan, i dont think DSIII will either. I dont see FF doing anything either, Japan has never really been big on the series, they like Dragon Quest like crazy. Street Fighter dont sale in Japan either, im sorry, Smash Bros is big in Japan. Good luck though.

@mesome713: Yeah it isn't nearly as dire a picture as you paint. All those games will sell consoles. PS3 only sold 10 million in Japan. PS4 won't do much worse than that.

Not that it really matters to me much as PS4 owns the rest of world and those Japanese games keep churning out.

Sure sales will increase some, but dont expect it to come close to what PS3 did in Japan. Sony is focused on Europe and America, which they should be, thats where all their sells are coming from, they have no need to cater to Japan.

If Sony was smart they would take advantage of Europe by producing and funding a Sonic game with Sega. Europe doesnt care for Nintendo much and Xbox is struggling over there, they can take control over and do some damage, but they better hurry, China is about to open to Nintendo soon.

I know in my career life I had to make decisions between staying with a company that has been in business since charters were a thing or take a gamble on having a lateral position change at an emerging MNC. TBH I see Kamiya's point. There's really no point him even being there if all MS are going to do is wheel him out on stage to say "Hi" before a demo rolls. A waste of time that could be going into development instead.

If MS's commitment to supporting Kamiya is anything more than skin-deep then the aren't showing it. And if I was a developer I'd feel a little tricked if a platform holder told me I was a huge deal for them and then turn around and contradict that with their treatment of the game/developer.

This is all a storm in a teacup, Kamiya knows that if he partners with the Sh*tStation4 he will only get a kickstarter campaign. LOL
