Meh.
Killing Floor with analog aiming? I'd rather shoot myself in the head.
Don't worry, it will have so much aim assist it will be auto-headshot city all day long on PS4.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
The games have changed. Shooters are moving towards movement based gameplay, and movement feels more intuitive with analog sticks then keyboard presses.
The shift towards 3rd person shooters have done that. A 3rd person shooter handles better than a controller compared to a FPS.
And I don't think Killing Floor is considered modern anyway. It's pretty old-school style.
Which is why playing it with a controller is just so..... wrong.
you're surprised that people got upset with you when you came in here and one-sidedly seem to call them childish and petty? Especially when it was there personal preference that was being put into question
This all started because someone sad they don't like FPS on consoles. They didn't mention it being less fun or anything. And that preference was called out of date and crazy.
Were you just bored with modding and decided to just come start some shit?
I just don't like it when somebody takes a chunk of what I say and tries to spin it into something completely different. Never have.
that's exactly what you've been doing here. You're spinning this discussion on the criticisms/preference of playing on FPS on PC vs Console into it somehow just being PC gamers acting "childish and petty" because they simply stated a fact to defend their preference.
I don't think anyone in this thread was arguing that.
This whole chain started because someone insulted another users preference.
So shall we expect you to be calling out all the other "childish and petty" comments on system wars?
The fact that somebody said "Analog aiming is still objectively inferior." is just petty. Why even say that? Great, play the PC version.
You seem to be taking everything out of context. Go back to the start. All I said was that I don't like FPS on consoles and then someone called my opinion silly and out dated. Funsohng's use of the word "objective" may have been off but in context it was pretty clear what he meant. In terms of accuracy a controller is objectively inferior however the overall experience is subjective.
@lostrib: technically, I think I started this shit.
yeah, but you didn't really "start" anything. It was an extension of an argument.
Well I did say analog aiming is objectively inferior.
It is, but you know, it seems to be politically incorrect to say such things here.
It doesn't matter what YOU prefer. What matters is you're trying to talk down to others based on how they are trying to enjoy games.
We play video games for fun. If they are going to have fun playing with a controller then so be it. It's not your place to tell them they are wrong and that somehow the games are less fun.

"insulted"
It's not like I called someone an idiot or something. You take it like I was trying to hurt someones feelings. I would say more people would feel uncomfortable reading a statement like "FPS on console? no thanks." That's like going into a Dragon Age thread and saying "Playing WRPGS? no thank you."

And I don't think Killing Floor is considered modern anyway. It's pretty old-school style.

Only Killing Floor isn't really that oldschool. The original was a pretty slow and methodically paced game. I loved it for that feeling. It wasn't just run as fast as you can, you had to be a bit more strategical. It promoted teamwork and strategic thinking like a good horde mode should. There wasn't any arena shooting elements to it or elements I would consider too difficult for a controller to handle.

Slow? Methodical? Are you playing the same game I am?

Killing Floor is that wave-based zombie shooter, right? Just checking.

If someone posts a statement like that, they should be prepared to be called out on it. This is system wars after all.

Things are anything but slow and methodical when you have Fleshpounds in the mix.

Yeah. Sometimes the shooting can get pretty hectic, but when you've got a full team working it's a very methodical came and the weapon mechanics are closer to a sim than they are to an arena shooter.
I never felt like it was to the level of pace something like Quake 3 or UT2k4 was, games I believe a controller does not work for.
It's not slow like ArmA, but it's not an arena shooter where you're jumping in mid air and shooting at just a handful of moving pixels in the distance.

Dude, Killing Floor isn't Something like Quake. It's not like your're sprinting at high speeds or jumping off walls. Most of the shooting is backing into a corner and holding the fort.

Never said it was but to say its "slow" is wrong.

So my wording was poor, but what he said is what I meant. The overall pace of the game is slower. It's not a constant high, you have nice strategic breaks thrown in the mix.
I was surprised to see it go to console. But hey at least more people get to try it, however, I wonder how many people with PS4's would actually be interested in it?
Didn't play Killing Floor. But I'm a Red Orchestra fan, so I hope Tripwire makes a great game and gets heard in the console community.
Why are the hermits so damn butthurt in this thread?
Dont worry hermits, nobody gives a **** about this POS, lol.
Expecting simplified gameplay and prolific DLC spammed.
A change in direction for the studio: greed/low exceptions.
the game is aim and shoot. It doesint get more simple then that. Anywho glade its coming over. Always wanted to play the game since it looks pretty fun.
Analog aiming is still objectively inferior.
Doesn't mean you can't have just as much fun with it.
Analog aiming doesn't diminish the quality of the shooting, gameplay, or any other part of the game. It's just something PC gamers continue to bash while millions and millions go about enjoying FPSs on consoles. It's really a petty argument when it comes down to it.
Well I have fun with Halo, I'll admit that. Bungie did a great job in hitting that sweet spot.
But when I can play with KB/M, why play with analog? Analog is slow, hard, and unintuitive. People enjoy FPS on consoles because that's all they know.
That's not true at all. I bought CoD Advanced Warfare on my PS4 over my PC and I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
the way KF gunplay works, i think analog is gonna blow chunks with it
So Street Fighter V and now Killing Floor 2,. Why is the Xbone missing out on these important titles?
I hope a ton of people buy it, Tripwire deserves the support. They've been making some pretty good-excellent PC shooters over the past few years.

uh someone say aim assist?
FPS on console? No thanks.
Considering how many shooters release on consoles yearly, these types of responses seem out of date and crazy.

Aiming doesn't really matter for modern shooters. Games are moving further and further away from accuracy based gameplay.
But it does matter for killing floor 2 if you actually wanna take advantage of the damage system on zeds.
We'll see when it comes out. I don't remember having to be accurate with Killing Floor 1. I actually never used the iron sights in the first game, it was better to spray in a general direction to do the most damage.
Depends on the class/map really, support specialist or flamer on a close corridor map would be totally fine with a controller. But playing sharpshooter on the mountain map would be difficult. Especially on hard when you need to be picking off moving targets at a long range with head shots so you don't get overwhelmed.
I can see it working overall, I am more concerned about them making a multi-plat RO game, you need insane precision in that, they would have to really rework the design to get it playable with a controller.
lmao at musturds attacking wasdie for spitting the truth. i know u guys are extremely butthurt about how great uc4 and the order look but lets keep this civil please
Why are the hermits so damn butthurt in this thread?

haha exactly. i wont even play this crap if it was free.
KF1 got boring fast without mods, that's why KF2 has such a huge focus on modding because Tripwire knows it needs it to survive, the PS4 version is blatantly inferior in this case
I understand why they are putting it on Consoles though, the budget for KF2 is quite high, all that mo-cap animation they are doing & what not

It's making the console debut on ps4, but probably coming to xb1 latter

Didn't they state that KF sold over 3 million copies and 10 million in DLC or something like that in the article so it's certainly not a money issue. Anyway mods were what made Killing Floor huge, everytime I server browse all the most played servers are modded. Probably why Tripwire is planning on adding different game modes but those won't be enough to save it either. I wonder how many PS4 gamers will actually buy it and continue to play it for ditch it when zombie survival for Advance Warfare comes out.
In a way this is still a PC exclusive like how Team Fortress 2 and PayDay is, sure it's on consoles but would really want to play it on that when see how much of huge difference it is on PC.
Almost every shooter these days is built around analog aiming. Most shooters these days actually feel more awkward with the mouse and keyboard set up these days.
Aiming doesn't really matter for modern shooters. Games are moving further and further away from accuracy based gameplay.
Yep not only that i play plants vs zombies with a 360 controller on my PC and actually own PC gamers with keyboard and mouse go figure,i almost always are on the top spot in kills.
Bu bu but hermits told me that game wouldn't be possible on consoles because it needs highly precise aiming and doesn't make use of crosshairs.
just like CSGO is trash on consoles, it's like watching a jr high foodfight with mashed potatoes
Pro-90s FTW!

Lets see how well you do in Counter Strike against mouse and keyboard users
This is actually great news for cowkind and Tripwire. I have faith in Tripwire, and after reading the linked article, it sounds like the different versions of the game were developed in parallel; so the PS4's technical limitations shouldn't affect the PC version.
Finally, what will likely be an awesome title, is announced for the PS4 and cows downplay it instead of hyping or expressing interest in it.
Apart from an unhealthy obsession with "'muh 'sclusives!," I really have no idea what goes on in the mind of the average consolite
This is a title, that most any gamer with an interest in tight cooperative gameplay should be thrilled to experience, if it's anywhere close to the quality of its predecessor.
Lems are really missing out on this one if it's not a timed console "exclusive."
P.S. Fwiw, they're also not "zombies." They're biotech weaponry "experiments," on the loose.

but ya see zombies in cod sucks. This actually looks fun and I can always respect some good creature designs and this game seems to have that. Unlike cod zombies which is one bland zombie after another.

Because they have ridiculous aim assist and training wheels built to make those controls work. Otherwise the precision advantage of the mouse is still absolutely absurd, and the better shooters, still are divine on the mouse and keyboard.

Which reminds me,
back in gen 7 when Xboxers were tooting L4D as an exclusive playstation guys used this argument
"So what! We can just play Call of Duty zombies to get the same experience!"
Great now cows are gonna try and claim killing floor as an exclusive
link article
Nope, cows actually know what a multi-platform is unlike lemmings. But I think lemmings are actually finally starting to learn what a multi-platform is when they were quick to mention it in the Street Fighter V for PS4 and PC thread.
Lemmings were unable to say the same thing with Titanfall trying to claim it as an "exclusive".
Lemmings may not be as smart as the average bear, but I'm glad they're actually starting to figure out what the difference is between an exclusive and multi plat.
