Killzone 2: Enough to Challenge Halo 3's throne?

I thought Haze was supposed to challenge Halo 3's throne. :lol:Zeliard9

and i thought KZ was supposed to challenge Halo 2's throne :lol:. seriously, this game doesn't have a pig's chance in hell of dethroning halo 3.

Halo 2 did not have a great developement time. In the time they had they were able to pull of a system seller, that is an accomplishment.

But because that sold due to the steam of the first one, they accomplished nothing they hadn't already set themselves up for.

Halo 2 had enough steam of it's own. Sure the campaign came to an abrupt halt...but multiplayer is STILL popular. People wouldn't be playing a game this long if it was just rolling off of the steam of the first one.

It's like Bungie put waaaay more effort into the multiplayer than the single player. There will be even a bigger gap between the two in Halo 3.

They probably did since they went from having absolutly no online multiplayer to having the most popular online game in console history.....i'm sure that takes time to do.

And it wasn't that the actual Halo 2 campaign that was so bad...it was that there wasn't really not much to the story. The beginning is great because it sets the story and introduces the characters. The end is great because you get the final fight and the culmonation of everything that everyone has been fighting for. The middle just joins the two. There was key information delievered in Halo 2, and the combat was clearly better (physics, AI, dual-wielding). They just wanted to save the final encounters for the final installment...and that is probably why so many people are excited for Halo 3.

to be honest I played halo 2 I liked it but WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overrated. Killzone 1 overhyped. but from what I saw in the previews of kz I think that it will be really good. but it is too early to tell. as for it outselling halo? No, but I bet that it will be just as good if they iron out every little problem.bigmack_20_20

It was the most popular console-online game of it's generation. It set several sales records and reviewed favorably pretty much everywhere. It held the title of the most played game online all the way up until gears of war recently. People don't play a game that is waaaayyyyy overrated for that long.

Clearly going to outscore MP3 and KZ2..no doubt about, its something Halo has over any game.8)

I've always loved the Halo series, so I would pick Halo 3. But Killzone and Halo 3 are very different types of first person shooters. Halo's more run n' gun while Killzone is more tactical. Graphically though I like Killzone better.dackchaar

well yes and no, killzones developers were independent at the time so it didnt have big brother sony checking up on the bugs and lagg , and the media hopped on the games @$$,and since then they are now owned by Sony, thats why liberation got a 9.1 cuz it was now owned by sony, besides i think that haze is more like Halo then KZ 2, becuz they have similar enviornments

Graphics always have and always will dictate excitement...the ONLY thing that has slightly competed with Graphics has been motion sesning which has a whole 130 million sales to compete with before it can claim a throne.

graphically Killzone 2 certainly has the ability to take on & beat Halo3- but gameplay- im not so sure. Bungie really have been pulling out all the stops for Halo3 & with none of that running out of time problems with Halo2.

the enviromments in Halo 3 look much more immersive that wat we see in Killzone 2, Halo 3 raises the bar with current gen fps even surpasses bioshock. it looks to be wat halo 3 should be.Eggheadz

Nah, won't happen. I'm not disreguarding that killzone 2 will be a good game. But Halo is practically a part of american pop culture, and is the single absolut definintion for console multiplayer. A series that has sold some 16 million units, not including what Halo 3 will sell.

Seriosuly you got every xbox fan in the world wanting this game, you have events for halo and only halo going, you even got halo on consumer products (Mountain dew anyone). Burgerking, Pepsi, etc all are marketing this game...its insane...

Another halo, *yawn*. Shinier graphics, a couple new weapons and vehicles, same gameplay.

It takes a bit of a failure to try something new to make it better and revive the franchise, and after the first Killzone, I'm sure they're doing everything in their power to make the gamplay in KZ2 much, much more immersive and compelling. I'm looking forward to it, but I guess the main thing is you can't really make too many assumptions before trying a demo with it. You kinda know what to expect with Halo.

Killzone 2's story isnt as established as Halo's which spans several novels. It just has nothing going for it. If you see a Killzone trailer in theaters I don't think people would know how to respond to it. They would be left scratching their heads, you know? "What the hell was that?".

Halo is Halo. Any game that has ever gone under the moniker "Halo killer" is cursed. I'm not kidding. I think superstitious-wise it's better to say " What game is worse than Halo?" then maybe it will score AAA.

I'm sorry but your wrong,your gonna ask how i know this but its obvious, there has already being enough info on the game to see that its not just an ordinary halo. Now i know that your comment had no truth to it and so do you, it was purely a fanboyish comment, so listen, halo 3 has already shown innovation with things like forge and looks to have great MP and an epic story, I'm sure killzone 2 has the potential to be a great game but its not shown anything that sets it apart. So stop with the meaningles post.

I think they'll both be good games. KZ2 will win easily in gfx. Halo 3 will probably win sales. Gameplay is kind of tough. AI hasn't been tuned for KZ2 yet but all of the little touches are cool (being able to shoot a gas canister and sent it flying at the enemy for an explosion... love those kind of details). Halo 3 will be standard run & gun gameplay but will do it well... However I'm looking forward to UT3 more than Halo 3 though.

It is foolish to put any untested game (or failed game like Killzone 1) against Halo. KZ2 has not shown anything beyond a typical FPS. Halo 1 has more stuff going on than what KZ2 has shown, so far.Berserker_2

I hear what you're saying... but the major complaint lodged against halo has always been that it's just a 'typical' FPS. When it comes to space weapons, vehiclesand online, UT is a much better series. But Halo has a better story.

...Gameplay is nothing compared to graphics...so...logically, this means that Sonic Heroes is better than Sonic the Hedgehog 2? Or Halo 2 is better than the first, or Hour of Victory is better than Ocarina of Time? This doesn't seem like a very logical argument at all.

There have been graphically lacking games with excitement. There haven't been gameplay lacking games with excitement, have there?
