Halo will be much improved from the beta. The beta was just the basics of the Halo 3 mutliplayer. Theres alot of stuff they left out. Also im still willing to bet that the E3 build will show a much more graphical upgrade of Halo 3. Count on it. 360 still has the better controller for FPS, and the genre is still more proven on 360 especially in terms of Online. Halo is still coming in as the champ. Haze will be the contender. Killzone is coming in as the chump trying to be a contender.jyoung312

bu bu but killzone scored a 6.9 :cry:

and it deserved it. I hear people say it was original that the only problem was the glitches and stuff. No thats not all true. the fact that the gameplay was generic and slow paced also killed this shooter. Killzone sucks compared to other big shooters. I mean really bad FPS games are hard to fine, cause most atleast score 7 or 8. Yet guerilla proved everyone wrong, with all that backing from sony they flopped than. WHats to say they cant flop again.

thats what im sayin,lol.

the problem is that you got your facts wrong, Guerilla did not have backing from Sony in making the first Killzone, it wasn't until after killzone was released that Sony acquired GG. I really don't think the original killzone and killzone ps3 are even comparable on those terms because the term has increased dramatically, as a first party studio they have insight into developing for the hardware and the resources of communication with other studies such as Insomniac and Incognito, something that they lacked while developing for ps2. Add in a budget of $40million and extremely high expectations and reactions to the downfalls of the first game and Guerilla probably has a good idea of their failures and ways to develop for the ps3. Killzone Ps3 while arguably may or may not
"kill" anything, it will be a drastic improvement over the original.

this has probably been stated before, but since WHEN has killzone gained such hype? the first was near abysmal in every way. all i can vividly remember is cows rejoicing at it's "pretty graphics", which will look nowhere near it's original E3 trailer, and completely forgetting about its predoccessor. at least halo has been a successful franchise, to say the least..:?

There was a time when HALO was king.

It was a time when Xbox was easily more powerful than PS2.

Standards have risen....too bad the bar wasn't reset.

Now it would seem Halo is struggling to keep up with a year old game with a mediocre 8.6

If that gets an 8.6 with LAG FREE 40 PLAYER GAMES WITH THOSE GRAPHICS....

Then I'd don't want to know what 12 room lagfests with this gets.....

At this point my stock is in Haze...I am putting CASH on the fact Killzone 2 will shame the likes of Unreal 3, CoD4, Haze, let ALONE Halo 3.

My words are not the gold standard in these forums but I ask you this...how long can you laugh at Killzone 2? How long can you claim Halo's greatness? How long can you deny PS3 is slowly but surely PASSING 360 in terms of graphics? Will there be nobody accepting the defeat of Halo 3 when Killzone 2 is shown this year?

July 13....a day every Cow shall remember....

NextGenNow

does killzone2 have 4 player co-op online? does it have matchmaking that tracks how many kills, assists, and deaths you have? does it have a ranking system. does it have a f*cking spartan laser? how about equipment, something that's never been done b4 in a console. completely balanced weapon set. every weapon has it's uses even the needler and no weapon is useless. Also Halo has a community to back it up. The beta has over 40,000 people playing as we speak and that's just the beta. when was the last time any PS game had over 20,000 people playing at once? your argument was weak and you should just sell your piece of **** 3 so you can feel better about ur insecurities about consoles nerd.

12 man lagfest? It's easy for a super cow like you to say that, but I have not yet experienced any lag on the Halo 3 Beta.

The sad thing is I've come to expect this sort of thing from NextGenNow, so his posts don't even hold any shock value now. Kinda like reading the same newspaper every day.

Socom 2 had 30,000-35,000 people on at a time during "peak hours."  I know because I played the hell out of the game.

TC you clearly dont know how they review games here.

The reason why the PSP version scored so highly was because it was scored on LOWER STANDARDS than that of consoles. They base the reviews off what the system can do and technicaly (with all of the special effects and graphics) it would get a high score on a portable but a lower score on a console.

I have both PSP and DS so calling me biased in any way wont really work, these are the facts.

Why else do you think the PC version of multiplats score less than their counterparts? Because the PC has HIGHER STANDARDS than that of consoles. They have to factor in what kind of PC's can play it and all of the bugs installing the game and the quality of games already out on PC.

Short version... if Kilzone Liberations came out on PS2 it would NOT get higher than 8.0 because of the consoles higher standards compared to handhelds.

I loved Socom 1 and played the crap out of it but I could never really get into the second one... maybe thats because I was playing my PC more about that time.

Apparently cows still think graphics are everything.  You'd think they'd have learned by now, what with the Wii b****-slapping the PS3 around and all.

If natural selection where enforced by the mods here, all of the cows would've been banned by now.  May the strong/intelligent survive, I say.

I must be going crazy, because all i see are hypocritical statements on these forums. Halo 3 a Beta. Yes Killzone 2 No Ingame Footage. Yes Halo 3 will own because its previous Installments owned. Yes this is shwon through PS3 selling massively because of PS2...wait a second. Killzone 2 flopping. Yeah because i have seen ingame footage and can tell you right now its garbage. So How can you compare Halo 3 (Guess what? Just because 1 was amazing and 2 was mediocre doesnt mean 3 will be great). and Killzone 2 (First one sucked, What of it?). If we judged everygame like this, well S*** i guess half the games i won shouldnt have been made, they were born to flop.

Hell, the Killzone engine was the one being used to showcase Edge back at GDC.  Sony is putting a hell of a lot into this game, going so far as to using the dev team and their engine to form the complete toolset for developing on the ps3.  That's a hell of a lot of effort, money, trust, etc. put into Guerilla.

Guerilla started out as a 40 man dev team full of essentially noobs, that created Shellshocked and Killzone.  However, shortly after Killzone: Liberation was released (which scored an 8.3, fyi) Sony bought Guerilla, and gave them ps3 dev kits right at the start, started helping them out figuring out the ps3's architecture asap (and developing Edge as a bi-product), and gave them a massive budget for KZ PS3 (well over $20 million by now), allowing the dev company to grow from a fledgling 40-man team to a gigantic workforce consisting of over 130 people.  It's like Guerilla on steroids.

I have high hopes that Killzone will do well.

halo 3 is what will tell me whether or not i get a 360...  i bought a PS3 just recently because there is more that i am looking forward to coming out on it and i wanted to continue playing my PS2 still while waiting for games to come out...  im honestly looking forward to both.  i just hope killzone 2 doesnt die and flop uber hard...  which unfortunately according to gamespot standards it will.  if you want more info on my opinions ask me about my opinions on the scores for oblivion on the two systems.

Killzone: Liberation was developed for the ps2, it would've been a much better game, with better graphics, more weapons, etc. It got an 8.3 for a reason. The standards for a handheld are lower, yes, because the devs are forced to make a lesser game on a handheld. It deserved what it got. And had the devs been working on a comparable game for the ps2, they would've put far more into it.

Granted yes its obvious they would have added more and taken control of the technology more. I was just using it to prove my point that a straight port would have scored lower on the PS2.

Um...but why does that matter?  If they were actually going to do that, then i could understand going through all that effort.  It doesn't change the fact that Guerilla's last game scored an 8.4, a big improvement over 6.9, no matter what system it's on.  KZ:L could've been been a graphical glitchfest with low fps and a linear campaign like Killzone for the ps2 was, but it wasn't.  It shows they are gaining experience, and learning to work on static console hardware.

The only development experience Guerilla had had before they made Shellshocked was minor development of crap games on the pc, where better hardware will make anything run smooth.  Optimizing wasn't as essential.  They were completely unknown and had almost no budget.  Killzone originally had no platform whatsoever, and they were showing it to various companies.  Sony saw it, and said they'd publish the game if it was made ps2 exclusive.  Then they started a slick marketing campaign for the game, but actually gave Guerilla almost no monetary help (besides manufacturing costs) whatsoever.

Now, Guerilla has gained much dev experience through their three previous games, and they have major backing by SOny.  Sony has essentially adopted KZ as it's flagship title.  Sony has so far invested over $20 million on KZ ps3, and that number continues to rise daily.  Guerilla, which originally only employed 40 devs (the same guys that worked on SHellshocked, KZ, and KZ:L), has now increased to a size of over 130 people, all because of Sony over the past two years.  The added 90 devs will help them to create an even better game than Liberation, i hope.

If this game doesn't do well, then Sony doesn't know how to make games, but God of War and Gran Turismo say otherwise.

After playing KZ2 and H3 I only had one thought on my mind regarding those two games...

I thought: How come people keep comparing these two games?

How can one say that Killzone has better graphics than Halo?

How can one say that Halo has better features than Killzone?

There is one answer: They are all wrong...

Because both of those games are probably the best FPSs compared to ANY OTHER game.

I can't compare them to each other! I just get so caught up in how great those games are!

The life-like reactions of your enemies and the huge battles in Killzone... the epic storyline and fun multiplayer in Halo, not to mention its soundtrack.

If both developers made a game called 'Halozone' I'd buy a copy.

this is SW. this isnt the place for poetic togetherness

Halo 3 is still the king, but Killzone looks pretty sweet as well. Halo is really well polished and is still getting updates and new content like crazy aswell.

Oh yeah, I've always wanted to say this so here it goes...Bungie has a severd dogs head in a pickle jar, in their closet. Your opinion is invalid.

Disagree. There's always room for togetherness.
