[QUOTE="Cybiotik"][QUOTE="host0211"] Is this another prediction that halo wars will outsell Killzone 2 ? cause killzone 2 last I heard was still out there with Resident Evil 5 while halo wars dropped down soon to be forgotten and good riddance host0211
Scared by the fact that a spin of of a franchise sold faster than you prefcious Killzone...LMAO...
um killzone 2 is a new ip halo wars is HALO it's a big disapointment at the low sales it shouldve been at 5 or 6 million by now it's got halo on the cover. Then I thought one as in a "Killzone One" Isn't that so weird :o

I think expecting 5 or 6 million out of a console RTS game is nuts, even if it is does have HALO on the cover.

it's basically a new ip cause killzone 1 flopped and halo sells on anything remember lemmings were telling us this. Halo Wars a big dissapointment it so far hasn't been able to get sales numbers like gears 2 and halo 3. so basically it's a double flop flop in score and sales.[QUOTE="-Oath"]It astounds me how desperate lemmings are to attack this game...It astounds me how desprate most PS3 owners are to defend his game.....

LOL the fanboy is strong in you!
So Halo is an 8 year old franchise, and KZ is a month old, because the 1st KZ stank it doesn't count as part of the franchise??? LOL thats some rock solid Fanboy Logic.

 But YOU guys are making all the threads. PS3 FANBOYS are the ones making the threads. What do you expect, other fanboys to walk in and go "oh wikipedia? great source! Haha please forgive us, you're right." Not a chance in hell. Stop making these silly threads and you'll stop seeing it get bashed. Good grief out of the 4 types of fanboy, you guys are the worst.
Wait so cows were the ones that made the "Killzone 2 is Epic Fail" thread? Now why would they do that?
dude it got over 1 million pre orders in europe alone.Where is the press release from Sony saying it sold 1 million copies? Considering the fact that Microsoft already said Halo Wars sold 1 million copies about 3 weeks after launch I would have expected one from Sony and earlier in the month to boot.I think that is more telling than anything.

it astounds me how desprate most 360 owners are to diss this game.... see what i did there? So, 2 wrong makes a right? God ****it man, I use to thing the maturity was more on the Playstation side of thing but since November 2005 and a PS_John later I see how wrong I was...There seems to be this "logic" going around that Killzone 2 flopped because "it cost too much to make". The figure that gets thrown around, whether true or not, is that the game cost $60 Million. Fanboy Lems then try and claim the game only sold 700,000 or so units (ignoring the fact that this was in two days).
However, if wikipedia is to be believed, there were 1.1 million pre-orders. So... basically, since the game retails at $60, and even if the only people that got the game were those that pre-ordered, the devs have already broken even (60 x 1.1 million = $66 Million).
Obviously, many many many more will buy this game in addition to those that pre-ordered, so already at this early stage is seems very clear that the devs have made a huge profit.. and that is before they license the engine to other devs...
There will obviously be a third game, based on the same engine, which will cost much less to make but will prob turn even higher profits. Lets not forget, Gears 1/2 was built upon an existing engine.. that is why they churn the games out so fast...
So how can people claim Killzone 2 flopped financially?
thetruespin
It only flopped in relation to expectations
PS3 people said that KZ2 would sell 3-4 million, save PS3 and be the start of a new era in gaming, and what do we get ? Another boring looking, linear shooter for 8 hours, mroe of the same gameplay, minus any monsters to actually make the boredom less evident, extremely low sales comparing to the expected and not even close to thePS3 sales increase expected
As for the scores that were supposed to be 10/10 everywhere, and they are like 9/10 everywhere, those are the biggest let down by far

Distribution, Advertising, Retail, Sony's License fee, then you get to developer turnover. No way is it making a profit.
let's see here halo combat evolved scored a 9.7 first attempt. it took killzone dev's 2 attempts and still couldnt outdo it. this threads stupid halo wars isnt even a halo game plus why are you comparing halo rts to fps? compare halo fps to killzone fps.bigmacattackjacThe orignal Killzone was a 3rd person shooter if i remember correctly so i dont know people keep comparing it with the orignal Halo as that was from the start a 1st person shooter.

Just FYI, the game sales to retailers at about $50, the mark up at retail is $60. Now, can we agree to disagree until more numbers show up?
Your logic is very flawed. The game developers aren't getting anything close to $60 for each game sold...-GeordiLaForge-True, i'm guessing the developer will only get a third, another third will go to the console's manufacturer and the last third to the publisher

I think its because Sony claimed that everything was going to plan even though they were losing millions of $$$ (that was before KZ2's release) and now after KZ2's releasy they are stIll losing millions of $$$, laying off employees, cancelling bonuses and not obviously not giving raises. Uh...that's assuming each of those preorders was paid in full, and I can guarantee you that's not the case. The vast majority of people who preorder games only pay the minimum amount, which is usually around $5 or so.
That's also assuming that the full $60 goes to Sony and the developers, and I can also guarantee you that's not true. First off, the retailer has to make a profit on each game sold, and that's usually on the $12 mark per game, meaning they only pay Sony about $48 wholesale for each copy of the game. So, you have to factor that in as well.
There are too many factors at work here that you haven't considered when making that assumption. Based purely on the evidence I've presented above, it's far too early to say that Sony and Guerilla have already profited from the $60 million investment is.
