Killzone 2 Vs Geow 2

Both games are still sometime off before release, specially Killzone2, but from what i saw/read, there is mostly a positive feeling/opinion about these 2 games... I am interested in both, having a PS3 & PC, will hoepfully get to play Geow2 on PC once released...

I am a PS3 fan, but one who admits that Geow was great (played the PC version), i had a blast and definately geow2 seems like it is going to be better overall... However unlike many i also enjoyed Killzone1 on PS2, surely it could have been much better, but for those who truly played the game, am sure many agree with me and had a good time playing the game...

So why this thread, with so many threads with useless graphical comparisons or simply nonsense bashing, I thought why not create a thread that actually praises both these great games...

Fanboys / haters can bash as much as they can, in reality both games look visually stunning, gameplay seems great for both & finally both seem like they are improving various aspects of the game from their previous installments in the series...

I say its normal to discuss, disagree or else let the fanboy inside of us take over and post stupid stuff online, but sometimes it makes more sense (EVEN in SW) to admit and praise both games even if its not out on our favorite console...

I think KZ2 looks better, plus I was never that keen on Gears of War. But this thread might as well be deleted, these kind of debates always end in arguments that never get settled.ONLYDOD

why should it be deleted, cause fanboys cant for once admit that both games look good and are great... in such case those can easily avoid posting in this thread... its about how good both games are not which one is better... it isnt that hard to admit both games look good....

yeah, i usually agree with most of your posts, we have similar opinions on games.... i think in the fanboys can argue and try to convince eachother as much as they want that their console is better or it has better games than the other... reality is that all consoles have great games and this only benefits to all gamers...

regarding KZ2 i just wish Guerilla annouces that a 4x co-op mode will be available :)

gears 2 will definiately have 2 player co-op. that worked well in the last one.

I would at least like 4 player splitscreen against, so you could have 2 Vs 2.

All the consoles have great games. This gen is good as last gen everyone had to have a ps2 ut now you can just have one console and enjoy good games, or have them all and enjoy many.

this is what i hate about some fanboys, they post the worst pic of a game they hate and the best oif the one they like.

They did this with MGS4, remember the pic of him lying down with a gun? I got the game and it looks much better than that.

Look at the gears pic and the kz2 pic, both look great. I could bash gears 2 though and say that metal bolt looks flat, and pretty bad. but who cares?

now yes at the moment in terms of textures gears wins out on some parts, but then the game is almost releasing its polished up.

though already killzone 2 has better lighting, better animations, all of these things.

things that take time. Polishing up some textures is the sort of stuff you do last, befire the bugs are fixed. Gr=ears 2 s pretty much finished now, and it looks great. Killzone 2 still has aroung 7 months to go, and it already looks that good.

Look at it, the maps are way more detailed, you fight more enemies close up, not like gears with enemys far away all running in the same direction. its shaping up well.

gears texturs look nice, but thats easy when (look at the pic) all you have is a floor, 2 boxes and a picture for the background. not to metion the small draw distances that makes sniping impossible.

Killzone 2 is FULL of tall buildings, explosions, there is tons of bits that they could have left out, but put in there to mak a richly detailed map.

so when both games are out we will see. on one hand both will look great, but one will have way more detail, guess which?

people should stop bashing games, its fine to have an opinion but posts like " KZ2 has rubbish graphix, Gears iz teh champ" are annoying.

graphics completely aside, i enjoyed playing killzone 1 and found despite all its problems the story was half decent and interesting to play, gears on the other hand was pretty boring and very short

Dude check your eyes bro, killzone 2 looks better. Both look great but killzone 2 looks a bit better. Just look at these multiplayer shots from killzone 2. They are just damn gorgeous.

I also enjoyed Killzone on the Playstation 2.

Anyway, I think both games look awesome but I play my 360 much much more than my PS3 so Ill go with Gears of War2.

yeah KZ2 looks great in motion, but seeing the mp vid for Geow2 seems like Epic are doing a great job too... its good to have quality games :)

Killzone 2 has freaking crazy visuals, like really wow, and the gameplay looks great and fluid, it's just it doesn't look particularly intriguing. You're mostly running forward through various industrial-looking environments, take cover behind stuff and shoot explosive barrels and people in the face.

In Gears 2 you start out taking cover and shooting people in the face whilst descending through a chunk of a collapsed city, then you take a "human" shield, then a huge flail-swinging monkey shows up, then you pick up his shield and a huger spiderthingie drops down, you plunk the shield into the ground and take cover behind it, then you stomp a guy in the face, then some weird explosive pig things show up, followed by a dude with a flamethrower, you shoot his fuel supply so he blows up, then you barbecue some poor bloke, then a locust throws a grappling hook onto a railing which you shoot down, then your mate saws a guy in half, then a huge crack shows up in the floor (the roof), making the whole roof with you on it fall down, then some tougher locust dude with some sort of machinegun, and grappling hooks, and explosive pigs, then a rather big Brumak and dozens of locust swarming which you tear through with a machinegun you mount in a window, until the whole building you're in falls over, now you're in a building lying on it's side on fire and collapsing, then you're taking a horizontal elevator ride, then you're dodging through rapid Brumak fire, flank it, take out the driver by whacking him over the head with your pistol, then you supposedly get to ride this huge beast.

yes you gave us a summary of the geow2 vid shown....while you didnt do the same for the KZ2 vids so that you make it seem that you practically do nothing else rather than cover / shoot / cover / shoot.. but did you cover what you're doing in the whole campaigns for both games in your post?? i guess No..

And please i hope you dont bring the argument that Geow1 was great so will be its sequel or because KZ1 was average so will be its sequel... You should now how many sequels failed to deliver what their previous installments did in the series...

yes you gave us a summary of the geow2 vid shown....while you didnt do the same for the KZ2 vids so that you make it seem that you practically do nothing else rather than cover / shoot / cover / shoot.. but did you cover what you're doing in the whole campaigns for both games in your post?? i guess No..

also both are shooting games so i suppose that most of the gameplay should consist of covering and shooting... am i right..

Well I thought about doing that but there's nothing really distinctive about what I've seen of Killzone 2, which is the six minute or whatever demonstration from G4. Which is what I said it is. There's no point in elaborating. The impression I got from watching these demos is in Gears 2 **** happens while in Killzone 2 you just sort of plod along with your gritty, heavy firefights in this war amongst industrial areas.

Of course I didn't cover the whole campaigns, what the f? Both are shooters so all you do is shoot what? This makes so little sense I could slap my ukelele with a handbag.

I don't get what it is you don't understand. Judging by the demonstrations, Gears 2 appears to have more interesting level design and more varied gameplay. I do not see how you could disagree with this. Or did I miss something?
