I just think it looks boring as hell. Generic? Naw, not really. Generic does not bother me anyways. It just looks dull to me. KZ2 lasted my a week before I was bored to tears with it. I hated the damn controls to high heaven. The only level I liked was the refinery. The graphics, while technically impressive, are not really fun to look at. Really let down by that game. I remember the day I bought it and Resident Evil 5. What a terrible day!

TC doesn't know what generic means :P

Name one thing that Killzone does to differentiate it's self. And no, pretty graphics and physics don't count.

squad abilities? 1st person cover system? what makes your "shooter of the year" vanquish not generic?

. Other shooters have done that. BUT, even though Killzone doesn't do anything groundbreaking, it doesn't mean a bad game. I mean, I feel sorry for the people that need a game to be groundbreaking to justify its purchase.

I'm not suggesting that a game needs to be ground-breaking to be worth a buy, but what these modern day FPS devs are doing is rediculous. COD in particular is arguably the same damn game every year, just with a few tweaks here and there. I haven't seen KZ3 try to suggest that it's not doing the same pathetic milking that COD is known for.

Random initial impressions.

The guns have a heft to them. That's good, but it doesn't feel as good as MoH in terms of weapons. At least they removed the artificial slowness to it. The game modes... I haven't played hours and hours of it yet, but the game types don't feel any different than other shooters. So far played assassination and the equivalent of TDM.

Bot matches are fun and the mech is kinda cool. Environments still feel a bit drab. Very detailed, but didn't really keep me visually enganged.

The invis cloak is rad.

Well killzone 3 is [radec]ally different from 2 in design. So your foolish to think its milking. Killzone isnt ground breakingly innovative - but its an experience you cant get from any other game... Well, at least 2 was. It did a lot of things well and uncommon things were brought into light. I dont know if anyone mentioned first person cover in another game yet. Id like to see it.warzone mode rocks. The control rocks. The shooting felt satisfying, and this is the first time I could ever truly say that on a console first person shooter. The game actually balanced impossibilities. Invisible snipers with 1 hit kill riffles that can spot, mark, and track every enemy in view... BALANCED. Everything comes together to make a sweet ass game.

the epic melee system, name me any other game where you kick your opponent in the face O.O or break his neck, or knife him in the throat, all of them must be able to happen randomly (but the kicking of the face isn't in the beta, but at least it's in SP)

I'm relying on Gamespot's giveaway at the moment. I hopefully get one :x The beta looks so fun :). Looks like all the minor issues have been fine tuned.

Gun immersiveness, kill animations, and warzone. When a game is generic, it is stale and feels like other games, but Killzone 2 is not stale, and it does not feel like other games. Killzone 2 is a gritty experience that is intense. I'm sorry, but as much as I like your beloved Vanquish, I do NOT like it as much as I like Killzone 2.

Guerilla Games went too far trying to rake in the wider audience and totally slapped core K2 players.

I remember KZ2 had aim assist so why people getting mad over this?

It no longer has any noticeable aim assist. For me, this is the time I entered Killzone 2. So to go from no aim assist - working for your kills, to aim assist + low health + ridiculous accuracy + no weight, its just... kinda weak. And if I remember, people frowned at the aim assist, notably on the shotgun.

lol wat

yea they're pretty sick, but they aren't really game defining

agreed, more games should implement something like Warzone. It was awesome.
