For those who don't know

Ray tracing is an over-rated lighting method often misconcepted by fanboys who don't really understand the tech to exaggerate the processing power of the supported hardware.

Its basically a different method of creating lighting and it relies heavily on the CPU

It's only going to be a very small bit of the game that implements it, but I'm anxious to see how the renders turn out.

It's very little use of Ray tracing or it would kill the PS3:|

Nonsence

It requires like 5 QuadCORE computers connected together to render like 15 fps in full resoultion realtime raytracing on older games

The amount of ray tracing thats used can vary. Killzone is using minute degrees. Why is that so diffcult for you to believe?

Its not raytracing and light is cheap it just looks attractive its nowhere near what real light should behave

"On June 12, 2008 Intel demonstrated Enemy Territory: Quake Wars running in basic HD (720p) resolution, which is the first time the company was able to render the game using a standard video resolution, instead of 1024 x 1024 or 512 x 512 pixels. ETQW operated at 14-29 frames per second. The demonstration ran on a 16-core (4 socket, 4 core) Tigerton system running at 2.93 GHz"

You're being terribly evasive.

Guerilla has already pointed out that the amount of ray-tracing is extremely small and you've done nothing to actually disprove what he said.

Plus, the lighting was good. A generalization from you is not going to change that.

There are different ways how to explain things... surely ray-tracing requires alot of processing power which todays technology has a hard time doing, with consoles its even worse... i am agreeing with you... problem is you have a 12 year old way of posting these facts (consoles cannot do 100% ray-tracing throughout a whole game), which is filled with unecessary hatred comments on PS3...

You can just post your opinion in a mature way and include links etc etc, making you believable to PS3 fans, because you are being objective that KZ2 looks good for a console game but ray-tracing is something that PS3 hardware is not capable to truly render in games.. Why would they use "small amount" when there is bether way of doing things - and less "expencive"?why wouldnt they use it? if it is regarded as the best light rendering technique? expensive? thats the reason they are using small amounts of it duhhh

well just dont give up, do realise that there are not only fanboys in here.... some have more than 1 system... personally KZ2 is one of my most anticipated titles but i wont go as far as stating KZ2 will be an excellent game or the best looking game on consoles... i usually prefare waiting till the game is released and i actually play it before passing judgements..

Dont get me wrong I do agree with what you are stating regarding ray-tracing, i just criticised the way you are trying to explain it to other posters who probably are not much technical.. (including myself)

@Lidve

the devs said they are using a tiny amount of it. you are blowing it out of proportation and acting as if they said the whole game is rendered with ray-tracing. Why would they use "small amount" when there is bether way of doing things - and less "expencive"?why wouldnt they use it? if it is regarded as the best light rendering technique? expensive? thats the reason they are using small amounts of it duhhh BECAUSE RAYTRACING IS NOT USEFULL AT THIS POINT. ITS NOT just "LIGHT RENDERING" its more like "HOW LIGHT BOUNCES" so if you dont want to use ADVANCED REFLECTIONS and SUCH - than its STUPID to use raytracing - read with me RAY T R A C I N G why would you TRACE light if you dont need it to be reflected on something???

You have bether solutions to do that that are not using much power which you could use for something else

jesus-christ just get over it already.

you hate the ps3? good for you Where did i say that i hate PS3? I love all platforms many threads you have proven this already

No,actualy im big fan of PS3,i just hate when ppl refer to it "omg second coming of jesus"

you cant take it that the devs said the game uses a small amount of ray tracing? good for you

My mum also said that if i be good boy and trust everything i hear i will get biscuit  your mommy is not a developer of games  Says who? And if she dont develop,i DO and i know at least a little what im talking about - you just heard "omg dev said that it must be true"

you seem to think you know more than the actual devs themselves and think they are lying? good for you

Grand Chase is refered as MMO but its VERRY FAR from MMO - you still belive devs? good for you so cos one dev lied all devs are liars...wow great logic their einstein

Actualy thats just example,i have maaaaaanyyy more lies including SONY

well just dont give up, do realise that there are not only fanboys in here.... some have more than 1 system... personally KZ2 is one of my most anticipated titles but i wont go as far as stating KZ2 will be an excellent game or the best looking game on consoles... i usually prefare waiting till the game is released and i actually play it before passing judgements..

Dont get me wrong I do agree with what you are stating regarding ray-tracing, i just criticised the way you are trying to explain it to other posters who probably are not much technical.. (including myself)
