lol, kinect is the future of many things but games are probably not it.

Surgeons who have worked with the research team are eager to give the system a regular place in surgery, once finalized.
As a surgeon, being able to manipulate information in a touch-free way while operating will have enormous benefits, says Dr. Neville Dastur, a vascular surgeon at the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals National Health Service (NHS) Trust. Breaking the flow of the operation to get someone to do it for you not only distracts from performing a delicate surgery, but it's also time-consuming.
Dr. Tom Carrell, vascular surgeon at Guy's and St. Thomas NHS Foundation Trust, says adding Kinect for Windows to the surgical theater could be a big step forward.
With Kinect, we could revolutionize the way we do complex operations, Carrell says. Patients and clinical teams will spend less time in theater, and surgeons will be more in control of the information they need.

Well, Kinect DEFINES life and that's one of them.
Can't even play CoD on Kinect, therefore it will never dominate the market share if it were standalone. Gamers don't want just Kinect, if the 720 shipped with only such an option it would flop miserably.
Indeed.
Fvck hardcore gamers.
We want people to stop using the gamer stereotype. Us being isolated. Hermit like creatures. That kinda stuff.
Yet we don't want to allow other people into our hobby.
Kinectbox will be only kinect but we'll get gears 5, forza 7, fable 4, etc. Can't even play CoD on Kinect, therefore it will never dominate the market share if it were standalone. Gamers don't want just Kinect, if the 720 shipped with only such an option it would flop miserably.

Have you played Steel Battalion? So far I'm convinced that it just ruins what would otherwise have been good games... and it's racist.SolidCLOUD_I have not but I don't need to to see how amazingly good it is.
Your cat died happily in the divine presence of kinect.No....just no.Kinect have kill my cat.

I reckon MS know Kinect sucks for core gamers, have a read of this:-
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/conscious-effort-to-downplay-kinect-at-e3/098860
Microsoft intentionally let the Kinect controller take a backseat at E3.
With its strategy this year being about core games, entertainment services and SmartGlass, the format holder seemed happy to only demo Kinect voice functions in new blockbusters.
And that was the point, Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer told MCV, because the firm wants voice to be a persistent part of games.
That was conscious, he said of E3?s showings for voice controls in FIFA and Splinter Cell.
Early on with Kinect we obviously wanted to challenge ourselves and say what would it mean to make a Kinect-only experience? We achieved that with some franchises that have hit scale and are selling millions of units.
Now what you see is Kinect just shows up. It's going to become a part of everything we do. Its not that every game we do wont have a controller but simple things, like in Splinter Cell distracting characters with your voice, is just a better way to do it, its more immersive.
They've found the sweet spot, where we ask players to do what they would naturally do and the game responds, as opposed to you having to learn the controls. Voice has to be a persistent part forever more.
But don't think the firm is turning its back on camera-controller experiences.
Wreckateer wouldn't be as fun with a controller. It's just fun if you stand up and do that with gestures. Those experiences are very compelling and social.
Other than them coming out and saying "kinect sucks, we wont bother with it anymore" this is about the best Kinect related news i've seen.

Kinect will make gaming more accessible and will prove that video games are not only for hopeless nerds like cows are.
The future is here, only on xbox.

No, gaming on your TV via services like OnLive and Gaikai, as well as the obvious smartphones and tablets, is the future of gaming for most people who aren't hardcore gamers of tech heads. Some kind of non-controller motion based input might be part of that too but Kinect is just an add on for a currently popular console and that's about it. Of course, the Xbox 720 does have a chance to be the main multimedia box under many people's TVs, if the rumors are true, and that has Kinect 2, so it might make a big impact in that way.
