For example, right now we're working on the PS3 version first, and once we've completed that we'll really know how much game there will be to fit onto the Xbox 360 discs," he toldVideoGamer.com.
"So we don't know how many discs it'll be housed on for 360, but there won't be a chance that we'll compromise anything because, oh it didn't fit in the 360 discs so we'll have to take it out of the PS3 version, or vice versa."double_heist
Thank you! there is finally a developer with a brain. I have NO problem with it being on 4 or 5 discs. This should throw out the idea of "OMG MGS4 can't be done on 360 because it doesn't have Bluray" Whatever, all they have to do is put it on multiple discs.
Time to start bidding on disks. Mine is 2 to 3 for the 360, more if they have to pre-render the cutscenes.
Irick_cb
I predict four at least. Think Lost Odyssey.
i don't think many people thought it would considering FF13 was well into development when MS made a deal with square. the only question is how different will the 360 version be obviously there will be multiple discs but there could be more. considering the engine FF13 is working on was made specifically for PS3 there might be some carry over problems if square enix gets lazy.
Final Fantasy started on a Nintendo console, so if it belongs on any one console it should be Nintendo's.i dont think there gonna go back and mess up the ps3 version but i hope the 360 version sucks though i rlly rlly rlly rlly do ff was ment for playstation and should stay there its not sonys fault microsoft had to steal and buy exclusives

Pre-rendered cutscenes are a very big part of FF games. And knowing them, they will want to go with full 1080P quality cutscenes, So im guessing 4 discs :PTime to start bidding on disks. Mine is 2 to 3 for the 360, more if they have to pre-render the cutscenes.

This is a textbook example of fanboyism.the right question to ask is will the 360 gimp the FFXIII experience?

This makes NO sense, and it seems a lot of cows are just as uninformed. I mean, where is this coming from?
The game is coming to the west in the same amount of time, OR LESS, after the Japanese version is complete as it always has. Square said so themselves.
People are acting like it is already available in Japan or something.

Sigh, prior to the 360 announcement, let's say Square was planning to release the PS3 version in NA at say for example...July. Now because of the 360 version, we're now getting it in say August. In other words, because Square wants to release both PS3 version and 360 versions at the same time, the PS3 version will just be sitting on the shelf while the 360 version is being worked on. Because as we know, the PS3 version will be worked on first, then 360.[QUOTE="TBoogy"][QUOTE="siLVURcross"] No but the NA PS3 version wasn't meant to be delayed this long if it weren't for the 360 version.siLVURcross

The 360 version will be getting completed while Square is localizing the PS3 version, which they have always done within 6 t0 9 months after finishing the Japanese version. A few others besides me have tried pointing this out, but it seems this whole "360 is delaying ps3 version" has taken on a life of it's own.
The only way that your claim could be made is if the western version takes a year after the eastern one to come out. And Square said that would not happen.
You are whining about something that has not happened AND which the developer said would not happen.
If you mean being hindered because the 360 doesn't have bluray, thats been solved by simply having it on multiple discs. If your saying that the 360's hardware abilities are goiing to hinder it you couldn't be more wrong. I read that they tested both the PS3 and the 360 at some university and the 360 outperformed it, so that argument is pointless.

EDIT: Nah...maybe 5. Doubt if they go over 50gb.
The Xbox 360 DVD-9 holds less than 8 gigabytes of actual data due to some extra stuff Microsoft stamps on the disc... saw this in a John Carmack interview when it was announced that Rage's visual quality would be compromised on Xbox 360 because they wanted to fit it on 2 discs due to licensing costs or something. which he then took back and said the visual texture quality downgrade will be in places you will never ever get too like behind walls..ect[QUOTE="Irick_cb"]

360 owners are going to get ALLOT of exercise disk swapping with FFXIII. Here's a leaked photo of the reatail boxset of FFXIII (360). LOL
because we know that in every past japanese release of a game its US counter part released day in day release with it right? or a month after? 6 months after? no the average is 7months to a year later. He never said that it wouldn't "affect" it. He said that it wouldn't "compromise" it. Meaning no drop in quality. So, no matter what happens with the 360 version, the PS3 version won't be changed to "equal" it.

Except that it was "supposed" to have a worldwide release. Which it now doesn't.
lol so you mean...because it didn't have a world wide release *which is likely cause they instead postponed the JAPANESE release to achieve that* that means its microsofts fault? lol it wouldn't have had a world wide release it would have been delayed in america and europe because thats just how it all ways has been. If any plans for a world wide release were ever made then that means one thing somewhere in the region of japan the games release was postponed so the english version could be finished.[QUOTE="jdt532"][QUOTE="Irick_cb"]

Is that the case? I was merely going on the assumption that Square was aiming for a worldwide release for Final Fantasy 13. Guess Square decided against such a thing. Didnt mean to sound hostile; my assumption has always been that most people saying that were misinformed somehow. And I meant "cows" strictly in the "PS3 fan" sense. I used to hate those terms. Maybe I will stop using them again.
first ps3 users are getting scr%@%@ cause they have to wait more now for the 360 version to get completed ,and dont tell me crap about the localization......we all know that is the deal with microsoft to come at the same time.if the full team was working on ps3 it would come out sooner, now some people of that team work on 360 how does that not mean a delay????thats the first lie they say
2nd and most important for me ,is there a deal to bring out the same exactly game?that goes for videos 1080p and japanese voice acting, those things fit well in a blue ray but may cost another 1-2 dvd disks and maybe square will ditch them for 360 so they will ditch them for ps3?(if there is such a deal)
seriusly if the european or the na version of ps3 doesnt have *** voice i will skip this game, its a must and its on all rpg's till now,and if se screws this for a deal with microsoft then yes 360 will have compromised the ps3 version and they would have lied once again.

Fanboy comfirmed.
Well if you say that the PS3 version will have pre-rendered cutscenes, and then with the fact that the devs don't want to change anything and keep both versions the same, more than 2-3 disks will be needed. I'm guessing...minimum 4 disks. How many disks was lost odyssey? FFXIII won't have a lesser number of disks than that.Time to start bidding on disks. Mine is 2 to 3 for the 360, more if they have to pre-render the cutscenes.

[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"]no you cant, ever notice that all ff games are released in japan first then us about 8-12 months later? they are currently localizing it, like translating to english for instance, so please stop blaming 360 for delay. i could see maybe a 1-2 month longer then usual delay if they run into issues with the 360, but i dont think that will happen. This is true, but the PS3 version of FFXIII will be released first, meaning that it is because of Microsoft, or some good move by Sony that is making the 360 version come out later. Unless the developers just want to spend there time, make the PS3 version awesome and then try and make the 360 version the same, that is also a possibility.I can still blame the 360 version for making it come out next year for us....right, RIGHT!!!

I don't know about that - but i does anyone see FFXIII coming to 360 next year? I don't. If the PS3 version has later release everywhere else in 2010, with a Japan release later this year. Then we will probably see the 360 version in maybe 2011. So we don't 100% know why they are releasing the 360 version a lot later than the PS3 (Japan) release, seeing as a NA release will be coming next year. It can't only be because they are translating it to english cause they would have done that. Anything now a days gives anyone the chance to bash the other consoles, Multiplats look better on the 360, most of there games goes to PC, PS3 is overpriced, PS3 doesn't have any good games, etc. The release times of this game could be for many different reasons, as i stated in my previous post. It's all just business though and fanboys will always be fanboys. If anything, the more time spent on the 360 version of FFXIII will mean that it might be released with fewer [possible] bugs and errors. So that's something that Cows can eat dirt about.
