[QUOTE="Razor_defiace"]btw most games have the same issues that you've stated (at least similar issues) and I wouldn't single out just this game for being "herp derp" quality. Games such as Mass Effect hailed for their story and yet contain just as much BS and deus ex machina elements (and even plot holes) as ZOE. It's just ZOE is more easily singled out because "anime" stereotype.Razor_defiace
Going to have to disagree with that one. I believe the Mass Effect series gets a pass because, even though the general plot is not the greatest, it's presentation is top notch. The dialog is, at the very least, passable, and the voice-acting remained exceptional throughout the whole series.
ZOE, on the other hand, was plauged with a poorly translated script and abysmal voice-work.
I haven't played the English version of ZOE, but looking at videos I can agree that dialogues are badly handled in the international release.
However I will point out that I wasn't comparing the two by presentations but by general story and events that happen during the game. Of course I am not highlighting the whole ME series but ME3 which is the prime example of a plot horribly handled and in the end making the whole experience feel less enjoyable.
Presentation wise ME is a lot better than ZOE-- but considering the age of the last ZOE game - it's expected to be inferior (especially considering the budgets). It's also an "RPG"-like game, with lots of dialogue and characters. It's not a fair comparison either way... but it still falls to the same video game tropes as any other game in terms of story.Fair enough, I suppose. It's hard for me to argue with that since I couldn't even get past the first hour of ZOE without turning off.
