I hope not. After just literally finishing MGS4 no more than 20 minutes ago, I think it's time for the series to die. I mean there's really nothing left. 4 wrapped up the series so well, that another Metal Gear game will essentially be grabbing for whatever just to milk the franchise. Kojima needs to focus on soemthing else and let MG end. Perhaps a new IP, or revisiting one of his other IPs, such as Zone of the Enders. Metal Gear should end with MGS4. Besides I don't think I could sit through another confusing as all hell plot again.
I don't think the series needs to die, theres only been 4 canon games and they take place over 40 years so theres enought time for prequals and spin offs aswell as sequals. Snake is really underused he's only playable in 2 games and 30 min.I hope not. After just literally finishing MGS4 no more than 20 minutes ago, I think it's time for the series to die. But at the same time what could they really explore? Snake Eater served as a prequel to MGS 1, and did a fine job of that. The only real prequel they could make would be a prequel toSnake Eater, maybe where you play asThe Boss. But there really isn't anything before that unless Kojima comes up with a completely new thing thattook place beforeThe Boss and Snake Eater. As previously stated, MGS4 wraps up every possible loose end that there is. We could speculate about the little things, but in the end would any of them really make an interesting game? People have speculated that MGS5 would feature Raiden as the main character, but if you have beaten MGS4, then you know why this wouldn't really be possible.
I also believe that at least Portable Ops was canon, correct me if I'm wrong. Either way four canon games may not seem like a lot, but the story packed into them more than made up for a small number of games. Besides which there aren't many games that have really gone to a high number installments that continue the same story. The only one I can really think of offhand is Resident Evil.

To be fair, the article assumes it's a MGS game. Kojima didn't say anything. Could be a Metal Gear game with a new character (not snake), could be a totally different game for all we know.I predict a thousand 'Mgs5 coming to xbox?' threads around E3! Kojima did say he was looking at a more western style of game after all....Bazfrag
This is more along the lines of what I'm thinking. Kojima making a new IP. Whether it be western style or not, I'm hoping that is what happens.

I personally wouldn't mind playing a game with Drebin as the lead, as long as he's got that cigarette smoking monkey with him.
I want Metal Gear Frank Jaeger!!! no_handlebars
Kojima Productions presents: Ninja Gaiden Solid.
Could be good.
Good discussion. I'm in need of some sleep, damn ending cutscenes, I never thought they would end.
Not sure how that would work out:P Could be interesting though.Agreed, everything is just speculation at the moment. I personally wouldn't mind playing a game with Drebin as the lead, as long as he's got that cigarette smoking monkey with him.

Don't be Silly...MGS needs to continue, there is always room for improvement and story telling, the possibilities are endless. BTW, maybe instead of the series dying, its you that needs to let go and move on, MGS isn't your thing anymore, NO one is forcing you to play it.I hope not. As far as I understand, Metal Gear is not finished, there is plenty more to tell. HOWEVER, the Snake lineage story line is finished, Hideo Kojima went public on that. What is to say that Raiden doesn't star in the next installment, I'm pretty sure that Liquid Ocelot was not the only source of war and chaos in the world either. There's always more conflict, it's part of the human condition.
MGS5? Hell MGS4 isn't even two years old yet. I hope Konami (Kojima Productions) doesn't milk the series. I don't mind seeing a few more prequels but I hope there isn't any sequels.
MGS4 was a perfect ending... I want a new IP... GodofBigMacsWhich ending? I'm pretty sure there are 5 times where the game should have been over. I think its going to be zone of the enders 3.
I predict a thousand 'Mgs5 coming to xbox?' threads around E3! Kojima did say he was looking at a more western style of game after all....BazfragI think that was obvious with the shooter friendly mechanics of MGS 4. Kojima also said in an interview, he liked Gears. Epic might want to get story telling advice from him.
I just want MGS on xbox 360 like all games we should all get to play them.TX360is the PS3 illegal where you live?
