Kotaku confirms that GTA IV: L&D outsells KZ2!

Sadly, because it's a digital download, we don't know exactly how many copies of Lost & Damned Microsoft and Rockstar managed to sell. We do know, however, it's more than 323,000.

Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg let slip the information in an interview with GameDaily - in which he calls the Grand Theft Auto IV expansion "the most successful game addon content we've ever launched" - saying "If that content was sold at retail, it would be one of the best sellers across all platforms. It would have outsold Killzone 2".

Interesting. Not for the "outsold" argument (which is hardly fair, since L&D was out for half of February while Killzone 2 was only out for a few days), but for the Lost & Damned sales ballpark. Nice to get one for a downloadable game, even if it still leaves us wondering...

First of all, if you base all your thoughts off what fanboys say, then I really don't have anything to say to you.

I don't think I ever saw anyone hype KZ2 sales, because that's stupid. The only time is when Sony released the 1.1 million preorders in UK (which was misleading).

Never knew sales could be generic, that's definitely news to me. I don't know about Motorstorm beating it on day 1, but the other three you mention are pretty big games...

Please, refer to my first point though. If that's how you come to your conclusions then nevermind the rest.

The media is doing too much to feed the fanboy wars.

I understand a hyped release being compared on opening sales, but seriously GTA and Halo are two of the most popular franchises in gaming, what exactly are we expecting here? Not to mention Killzone, barely had a following to begin, I treat the sequel as a new IP.

How do they know they sold "more than 323,000" yet can't give more of a somewhat tangible number. I mean a ball park figure would have been even better as it is DLC.

Anyways I wouldn't be suprised, as this is GTA, with maybe 2 of the games scoring lower than a 9 on GS.
