@charizard1605:
I mean I don't disagree at all... but did you read the article? Holy shit, it reads like a PR article. MS couldn't do it much better than this! XD
The two major things they could have used to prove their point (better fall release schedule with great games + backwards compatibility) are put into the background of an article that tries real hard to undersell all the reasons why the XB1 finds itself in it's current postion. And when they do use it, they need to back it up with multiplatform games (some of which have quite some issues on the XB1) and games from 2014 for some odd reason. Not that they're somehow unplayable in 2015 nor does the console exist in vacuum regarding it's past, however these articles are kinda analyzing them in a "time vacuum", so...you know...
Did the XB1 have a better 2015 than the competition? Yes, and it's the software side that tells us this (Forza 6, Halo 5, Tomb Raider, Rare Replay. Those are 4 (well, way more than 4) great games right there. PS4 only had Bloodborne and Until Dawn as games that are on the same level IMO). Not adding a headphone jack to the controller instead of your crappy proprietary jack. Not adding a 1TB SKU. Not selling a 150$ controller that I bet not even 10% of the user base will end up buying. Even stuff like fixing/upgrading/improving the OS, which is great btw, is moot if we consider the other two rivals didn't suffer those sort of problems in that department (actually unsure about the WiiU tbh).
Well aware that it's his or Kotaku's opinion on the matter, but for example praising "getting 2 "free" games with XBL" and not mentioning that, you know, the same happens elswhere comes off PR-ish as hell. Just my 2 cents though. Definitely enjoyed the way the PS4 article is written quite a bit more (which I also agree with).
