But why not 1080p? isn't p supposed to have better colour saturation or something?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I will be running it in native 720p. Progressive > Interlace IMO.SpruceCaboose
Well yeah we all know any p is better than i :P
[QUOTE="Al3x_n90"]But why not 1080p?SpruceCabooseIts too taxing on the system resources would be my guess.
Maybe, but at least it there will be no need to upscale, still it's impressive such a game can have native 1080i :P

This.
I'll go 108p once I get a 42" hdtv and not before. Does'nt make a difference at 32".

Yeah you can only really tell a difference if you have a 42" + tv, lucky for me i have a 42" plasma :P
Yeah, since from what I have heard the PS3 is not good in the scaling for older HDTVs that don't support 720p.Maybe, but at least it there will be no need to upscale, still it's impressive such a game can have native 1080i :P

I didn't get the new memo where it says upscaled means native.McdonaIdsGuyI didn't get the memo that you could not read links. "I got a message from one of our code gurus today about me talking about the 720p stuff I was spewing incorrectly and told me that we now support 1080i natively too. Glad they got that in too. Now rejoice!"

my ps3 doesn't even have a check beside 1080i. id rather use 720p. also oif you're using an lcd or plasma tv there is no interlaced signal. theres mearly 60FPS(1080p) or 30FPS(1080i). bith produce a progressive scan signal. just one runs smoother then the other.

Ya for serious, 1080i is INTERLACED... What kind of idiotry is this thread on about.
We know 1080i means interlace. What are you talking about?[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"][QUOTE="McdonaIdsGuy"]I didn't get the new memo where it says upscaled means native.McdonaIdsGuyI didn't get the memo that you could not read links. So you're saying devs are talking bs and that the game doesn't have native 1080i ???
Your link comes from Playstation universe, and from playstation boards, the GG devs would say anything and fanboy will eat it up..they can say we run it at 1080i when the game comes out at beyond3d forums we will have the real resolution and i will laugh at GG.Of course there's such a thing as interlaced signal when you're using an LCD or plasma. It just gets deinterlaced before it is displayed on the screen.my ps3 doesn't even have a check beside 1080i. id rather use 720p. also oif you're using an lcd or plasma tv there is no interlaced signal. theres mearly 60FPS(1080p) or 30FPS(1080i). bith produce a progressive scan signal. just one runs smoother then the other.

I am going off of what the man says. Until you have final code and pixel counting to prove him wrong, you got nothing to back you up.
I'm no tech wizard but I think 720p is supposed to be better for games than 1080i. So that's what I'll be using.Floppy_JimIf the games runs already at 30fps at 720 and has frame dips sometimes,at 1080i the game will run like crap.

I will be running it in native 720p. Progressive > Interlace IMO.SpruceCabooseexactly, why 1080?i, 720p is way better for gaming

Sure that's why it's native 1080i  it'll run at bellow 1 fps

But you should set your console(s) and other output devices to the same resolution as your display's native resolution. That is by far the best way to go.

It's 5 in the afternoon in europe 8) no need for coffee here :P
9 in the morning in the US Midwest... :D[QUOTE="Couth_"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] You answered your own question. The PS3 has issues upscaling, and if a source only supports 720p and your display is old, it will default back to 480p and not display an HD image if 1080i is not a choice.SpruceCabooseWell I guess I was mainly wondering why they would throw that in native for the 5 people who have those TVs There are alot more legacy HDTVs than you think. Also, some people prefer 1080i. Not sure why, but they do. I'm sure some of it's marketing. A lot of people believe anything with a higher number is better than something with a lower number, even if the two aren't really comparable. This is particularly true if the people don't understand the underlying differences, as is the case with the general population's knowledge about the difference between progressive and interlaced.
Because 1080p would take up more resources while 1080i would take up less: 720p is pushing 60 full frames at 1280x720 every second, 1080i is 60 half frames every second at 960x540 to make up a 1920x1080 image at 30fps, 1080p would be 60 full frames at 1920x1080 every second and would take up alot more resources.Linky

Al3x_n90
I will try it out just to see if it makes a huge difference. I have it set on 720p nowkillerfist1080i is for displaying still pictures and the framerate is lower
The lems will be crying so hard when this game comes out. They will easily regret their 360 purchase.SolidGame_basic360 owners will probably hang themselfs when killzone 2 comes out . . . . . . . jk
"Native 1080i" is PR for "It runs at 720p" we all know that they are almost the same (with 720p being better for games) why would i want an interlaced image in a FPS??navyguy21Probably for the few people who swear by 1080p, might be a better image than an upscaled 720p.... if the game running at 25-30 fps anyways you probably wouldn't notice a difference framerate wise, as for the interlacing lines on movement if they set it up properly you wouldn't see them, it would basically look like 1080p but would be capped at 30fps.
