Im not a 360 guy. Im a PS3 man but I do think L4D looks like a good game. I dont even own a 360 so I dont entirely care but only two hours of gameplay( comfirmed by IGN's review ) seems a little weak. 4 missions that last 30 min a piece seems like it would get repetitive after a few months. Although I dont enjoy the 360 im sure L4D is a great game. What do you guys think of its short gameplay?wiidog
Did you read (or watch) the IGN review? It clearly said that it was more than 2 hours of gameplay.

I only watched the review and he said that the game changes in enemies every time you play but there are only 4 missions

Yeah, there is plenty of content in L4D, even if there are only four scenarios. Plus, you can bet Valve will add in content post-release, as they tend to do. I wouldn't be to worried about the length.
The review clearly stated it wasn't a bad thing.
And if you'd played the demo, you should be able to tell that. I've put 15 hours into it.
rcignoni
same here....and thanks only 1.5 levels...
and no versus
though i does suck that you can only play versus on two campaigns

from what I heard, they only care for the PC.

they promised l4d would be different. they even specifically apologized for tf2 on 360

Only a few months huh?
The game is so good that it earned itself a 9 all across the board that all that matters. Plus they really emphasized on replay value.
Â
thats why u buy the pc version. there r going to be mods for this game. in the demo there was a team fortress 2 map, but valve locked it because peolpe were writing in a lot of glitches in that so they locked it.
i'm going to get the 360 version first and get the pc later some time. i played the demo for like 3 hours just on onemap. people try expert it is fun and challenging enough to get threw but stufck at the same time.Â
i believe 9 was a bit to high for the game. Though there is quite a bit of replay value on each scenario, from my experience with the demo, the lvl did get pretty old after the 3rd run through on expert.
The game is incredibly fun, but i dont think there is any reason why there is a 60 dollar price tag that goes with it, it feels somewhat like a glorified mod than an actual game
Uh oh, I'll never play through the campaigns more than once.... We all know that each of the 4 campaigns is short, but it's a co-op game. Who has the time to play a whole campaign co-op with 3 buds or so? This is the perfect co-op experience.BioShockOwnz

I'm not one to defend shooters cuz they haven't done anything other than costume changes since Quake and even then they're all like de-evolved versions of Descent imo, but i'm pretty sure L4D isn't a game that you're supposed to do speed runs with and never play it again.
The main selling point is that the AI director keeps things new every time (or at least for a long time), plus its multiplayer focused. Â I don't think a game thats basically multiplayer only is worth $60, but I wouldn't say gameplay length is it's issue.

Seriously, watch the entire thing and they say that the replay ability is extremely high.another case of an average game but its a well known developer so lets give it a good score.
this game is gonna get old very, very fast
I would be surpised if Gamespot gives this game anything over 8.0 - 8.5. It didn't seem like anything special. Just a typical run-of-the-mill shooter and the gameplay got old fast. Deihmos
I trust the reviewers that have played the entire thing.

92% average.
Short =/= bad. MGS4 proved that.Â
nervmeister
MGS4 also has a lengthy story along with mp, keep that in mind.
U can beat the 4 campaigns in 4hrs. But the whole thing is to play with friends over and over again the on same map since nothing happens twice.Tjeremiah1988
its a zombie game. its all repetition

BS, there is no way he played that on expert.
I put in 9 hours of playing that still remained fresh from the last time I played.
9 hours of one campaign in which only 2 of the 5 scenarios were available. There are 4 campaigns as well as the ability to play on TF2 maps on the PC version.
It'll last me a good amount of time methinks.
I spent 23 hours on the demo which was very small. So i have no DOUBT at all that i will spend a good 100-200 hours on this game.
Simply one of the years best and hands down the coop of all time imo.
The AI director is also fantastic and makes it totally differnt everytime you play it.
Their are 4 campaigns, each campaign consists of 5 levels for a total of 20 levels. True, you can beat all 20 levels in 2-3 hours if you play the game on easy and are trying to beat it as fast as you can. Playing on expert however is where the game really shines and you are forced to play with friends as a team (the teamate AI isn't aggressive enough to get you through expert).
This game is all about team work and will take 20-30 hours to beat the game on expert. It took my friend and I 1 hour to beat the first level on expert, and 2 hours to beat the second level. Since there are 18 more levels after that, and each one will take 1-2 hours to beat, well you do the math. Plus I'm sure this game will be a hit for the PC community so expect mods, more levels, and maybe Valve will add at least 1 or 2 more campaigns depending how popular it gets.
Many people don't agree with you. I have played the demo for 8-9 hours and that was just 2 out of 20 levels this game will offer out of the box. This game has more re-playability and a longer life span then most shooters, or most games for that matter. Convince me that the game is average and will get old really fast, then I won't buy it.another case of an average game but its a well known developer so lets give it a good score.

4 scenarios in the game. IGN said each scenario is 20-30 minutes. So, 2 hours max on normal. :| "But, but teh replayability!"

4 campaigns with each campaign having a set of scenarios. The campaign featured in the demo has 5 scenarios but only 2 are playable. Also if you're not playing on expert then you're not getting the full experience.
They played on normal and obviously just blew through the game. Each scenario consists of 5 levels for a total of 20 levels. I put in about 8-9 hours in the demo and that was just the first 2 levels of 1 scenario. It took my friend and I 1 hour to beat the first level on expert, and 2 hours to beat the second, so 20 levels times 1-2 hours, well you can do the math (And that's not counting if I feel like playing through the levels I already beaten).4 scenarios in the game. IGN said each scenario is 20-30 minutes. So, 2 hours max on normal. :| "But, but teh replayability!"

Playing on expert is where this game really shines and will kick your tail. It's all about temawork and the AI director is always changing things up for you. Like weapon placement and/or omission, zombie placement, boss placement and/or omission. Even the enviroments will be slightly varied like in one play through a wall will be torn down allowing you to take a different route, and the next it will be up forcing you to go around and maybe face a horde, etc... For people with friends and who are willing to play this game beyond normal will have many many hours of fun. This is afterall a multiplayer game.
I'm not making excuses for Valve. I think L4D is way too little for $60. Sounds more like an expensive mod pack than a real game. No wonder they are spending $10 million to hype it.
It's $50 for us pc gamers ($45 if you pre-order) and I honestly think this game is better suited for the PC community. It plays better, looks better then the 360 version and it will get mods, extra levels, etc. I have logged in about 8-9 hours on just the demo, that's more then I've logged into some games so to call this a mod type game is really not giving the game the credit it deserves.I'm not making excuses for Valve. $45 sounds better, although still a lot for a limited experience. I don't know, I guess I just expected more from Valve as far as mission aspect of the game since I'm a big Halflife fan.
