Awesome. New grass.
I'm actually serious when I say this, the original grass and stuff looked horrible. Sounds like the controls are family friendly, at least that's the what I gathered from that. I would like to use them before jumping to conclusions although I would've preffered to use the analogue sticks too.
Bad review....there has only been one and it is unconfirmed.Truth-slayer
To my knowledge, there are two negative reviews and both complained about the controls.
Victoria's family, lead by my 83-year old grandfather in law was able to pick up Lair in less than 5 inutes, fly around with the dragon and play the first mission of the game. That experience right there beats anything that the reviewers can say. Because let's face it: the hardcore crowd is an important part of the market, and I sincerely hope that everybody who reads my page and/or hangs out on NeoGAF, IGN, 1UP on a daily basis will buy Lair and enjoy it. Your guys' opinions are important, and they matter.BUT... making a game that my entire (extended) family can play, that's how we will keep the creative flame (and our industry!) alive. Matthias Worch
Factor 5 is abandoning hardcore gamers!!!

one good one average one bad and i bet it gets a 8.0 , 8.5 on gamespot
The only thing worse than a promising game getting bad reviews is a developer refusing to believe those reviews are their fault and that the reviewers are idiots.norfair_dweller
He has a good point. Apperently the EGM review was low because of the sixaxis controls.
This is what he said.
The common complaint in those bad reviews seem to be the controls - putting the dragon streering on the motion-sensitive SIXAXIS controller doesn't sit well with some of the experienced gamers. First of all: try it out yourself, give it a chance!
How the hell do you know that you will hate the contols just because a couple reviewers did? Im personally am buying it
[QUOTE="Giancar"]Confirmed on the 1up boards by EGM Editor Mike Donahoe. They're real. Are the Lair and Blue dragon EGM reviews confirmed???

I doubt someone just made them up.
hopefully the second post is the correct...I am looking forward for both games :(

The was the EGM review which so far has not been confirmed, the other one(gamepro?) was more of a preview of the game rather than a review since they were playing an unfinished build of the game.the only official review i know of is on GameRankings and its a 9/10 from play magazine...check it outh575309
I enjoy Play for their passion for games, but they do tend to like a lot of crappy games (Bullet Witch anyone?). I just can't trust them too much since they think everything is best thing ever.
This sounds familiar. Like when a Shadowrun dev was whining about the reviews that Shadowrun got. Also....remember David Jaffe's hissy fit over the Calling All Cars reviews?
It's not like whining is going to win any sympathy or anything. Why don't they just take advice and use it to create a better game next time around.

Because reviewers are there to tell you whether the game is good or not.

7.5 is where this game max's out IMO. I mean just look at the gameplay video's is that really worth a solid 8 plus if the control's are as bad as they say it definetely wont get an 8.5.

dracula_16
The most memorable one was Hideo Kojima himself seeing as how MGS3 scored 8.7, he publicly attacked and criticised Gamespot. David Jaffe's blog thing was also pretty low.
Can anyone link me to the Lair review that was negative? I can only find the review from Play that gave it a 9 out of 10. rpawloski2458
Again, you are assuming that review(if real) was a fair one. Wait until all the reviews are in before you dismiss the developer as just whining. This sounds familiar. Really? Good for Kojima. Gamespots reviews can be pretty stupid. The game deserved a 9.0.[QUOTE="Zero_Fate_"][QUOTE="dracula_16"]This sounds familiar. Oh and lack of radar was a pain.

Both games could still be great, but this is not a good indicator.
well that sucks...anybody knows why BD got that score???
I was looking for a game similar to chrono trigger :(:(:(

It deserved AAA for the reason alone that Sons of Liberty got 9.6. At least, in my opinion.

no matter how any mgs in the future is reviewed i will buy it as long as kojima is heading the project... i trust him to make a great game more than i trust a review.... every one of those games is amazing in every department.... i could careless about some reviewers nitpicking

The thing is - these are the same guys that refused to listen to comments and criticisms of the game as it was previewed during development (long before released). This is one reason why I am still holding out hope for Too Human. Denis Dyack may be a crybaby, but the thing is - he is at least listening to the criticisms of his game. Hopefully, he will take these things, go back to his development team, and try to improve on what people are complaining about AND MAKE THE GAME BETTER.
Lair, Shadowrun, Crackdown, Motorstorm, etc.ALL had criticisms of their games before they were released. The developers chose to ignore those criticisms and release the game as they saw fit and THEN they turn around and cry that they got bad reviews??? Terrible.

I'm glad someone in the gaming community has the guts to buy sequels to games and ignore the flaws they contain... You sir, are what is right with our industry.

Haha. Hey cows, don't sweat it, your Grandpa will LOVE Lair!

 I really don't know what to say - does this mean that Lair is so easy that your Grandpa can play through the first level???
[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]Bad reviews? Link, haven't seen them yet and I preordered :SGundamGuy0
