Uhhh
I have to go back too many years to find a game that truly makes me want to play it over and over again due to the gameplay awesomeness. Â But I guess... Sonic Generations? Â I fvckin loved that game.
Derp, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Bayonetta instantly come to mind.
I just started Demon's Souls last night, so I'll go with that. Its delightfully retro.
Fire Emblem Awakening and Virtue's last reward also come to mind.
[QUOTE="CallOfDutyRulez"]Not sure if serious.Call of Duty Black Ops 2 was just insane. Why is no other game company trying to copy Activision's amazing game style?

The sales say that millions of gamers and I agree.

probably just a joke poster
It's amazing how you cows ignore the massive sales that CoD gets. Hell, the only 4 games to surpass 10 million sales on the PS3 were all CoD iterations.
In here, you "creative" b@stards" may think that boycotting CoD is going to benefit the industry when it's only going to financially cripple gamers everywhere. CoD will win the end. The sales prove that the demand is there.Â
Hm... As far as the actual last game I played with amazing gameplay? Like msot recent? Because the last game I played today was Final Fantasy V Advance. Â LOVELOVELOVE the job system. Â IMO it raises the game above its rather generic plot and atmosphere.
Last MODERN game I beat with amazing gameplay? I will say Darksiders 2 and Far Cry 3, because both of them gave you options on how exactly you wanted to paly... While FC3 was much more open ended, I liked the customization and chocies you could make to upgrade Death.Â
I also played Xenoblade today... Goddamnit I need to play through it more. Â Still GOTY 2012.
I was thinking about this today out of all the recent games that came out and I played not many of them actually had amazing gameplay, they were decent and serviceable but not really groundbreaking. Last game I played was Bioshock Infinite and while I love the game, it's gameplay isn't anything really spectacular, it's there and does the job.
I guess for me it was likely Dark Souls last year when it came to PC, which is pretty sad cos I've played a lot of games since. Far Cry 3 could be up there because that was a lot of fun to play and had great stealth, gunplay was a little off though
So what say you?Â
DmCZeviander
I played DmC too at launch but I didn't think it's gameplay was particularly amazing. It was pretty solid though
Also damn I forgot Dishonored
Portal 2 and DiRT 3 and How dare you nominate a RPG for good game play. Dark Souls and Bioshock are undoubtably the best in its genre, but the genre itself has a flawed concept in regards to gameplay. RPG's are invalid by default.Lulekani
Did you just say Bioshock was an RPG?Â
And Dark Souls has very good and tight gameplay. It's not overly complex combat wise, but that would defeat the games overall design I think and wouldn't make it any better
[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"] I didn't think it's gameplay was particularly amazing. It was pretty solid thoughZevianderIt's butter smooth and spectacularly flashy. It's very shallow compared to DMC3/4 but it's incredibly fun... and I think that is what is most important.
It definitely felt like I was doing more than previous DmC games. Sure that's what the die hards hated about it, but for a somewhat poor hack n' slash gamer like myself it felt and looked like I was kicking ass even when I wasn't.Â
But I still wouldn't call it really "amazing", it did it's jobÂ
[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]Did you just say Bioshock was an RPG?ZevianderAndrew Ryan is also the antagonist. :3
Wait what? I don't understand your post :P where was Andrew Ryan mentioned?Â
[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]But I still wouldn't call it really "amazing", it did it's jobZevianderYour standards are too high. :P
That is most definitely likely. In fact, it's almost a certainty :PÂ
guess I had too many expectations and pre-determined thoughts about the game over all the BS instead of having actually enjoyed it for what it was.Â
Wait what? I don't understand your post :P where was Andrew Ryan mentioned?seanmcloughlinI was trying to be funny. Hence the ":3". People who credit BioShock for greatness for specific things may also think Ryan is the antagonist, which is equally hilarious.

Ah now I getcha lol I'm not smart enough for your post it would seem
And I would agree.Â
Metal Gear Rising: RevengeanceAcidSoldner
Was the gameplay that good? You and Chaz said it here and I heard conflicting thoughts about it. They said it was good but not bayonetta good or the level it should have been at
Demon's Souls was the most recent one, I played it a couple months ago. Â Before that it was Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
Max Payne 3.
Say what you want about story, setting, and atmosphere; but damn... dat gunplay. Dat glorious gunplay!

It was extremely satisfying that's for sure. So much so that I can't enjoy the gunplay of max payne 1 and 2 nowÂ
Also animations had a huge chunk to do with the feeling of gunplay for me.Â

Yep. Granted it's been the last 2013 release I've bought but it has damn good gameplay. And +1 for Max Payne 3. Probably the smoothest and most mechanically refined TPS out there. The last one would be Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Fast, fluid, and addicting gameplay combined with awesome music, fun level design, and tough as nails AI is pretty much all I want in a game, but the SEGA nostalgia makes it even sweeter. :)

Bioshock is an FPS with Role Playing elements, which is basicly an RPG. I really must give Dark Souls some major credit, I haven't played it, but it is my understanding that its the Only RPG That has counter measures for over powerd characters who try to win by using Brute Force, how ever I never really approved because I know nothing about what happens to under powerd characters. Alil consistency would be nice.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"][QUOTE="Lulekani"]Portal 2 and DiRT 3 and How dare you nominate a RPG for good game play. Bioshock is an FPS with Role Playing elements, which is basicly an RPG..Start of the sentence was spot on, the end of it, was not
That's like saying Far Cry 3 is an RPG because it has slight RPG elements
