Looks the same as it always has to me.

Great player and npc models, horrid enviroment textures, and that really odd green-yellow light filter thats used to soften the overall image.

I've noticed that too. If you look at the car in the shot, the hood and the wheels most glaringly stand out. And the iron structure to Snakes right. It looks like the enviromental objects are made with a really low poly count, hence you get the somewhat "blocky" look of objects. Then some of the textures painted on the objects are just really bad, again, check out the iron structure.

Its really jarring to look at some times, just because the actual character models are rindered at such a high poly count, and with very nicely done normal mapped textures.

I think thats also the one of the resons behind the color filter. I know alot of people talk about color filters used in art-house type films, and the mood lighting, but from a technical veiwpoint, the color filter does alot to soften the image, and it really helps even out the graphical quality gap between the characters and the enviroments, making the game much more fluid and even looking.

I like plastic dolls and oatmeal textures. Don't diss!

I'm not sure what the newest build looks like, but knowing Kojima Productions there have most likely been a lot of improvements graphically and definately in the gameplay department.
