Not a guy who likes writing big reviews. The game came out 4 years ago.

The game was good, but for me it's only a 8/10 game or 85/100 game. The AI is awful lets be honest. I be laughing when they run at you, see you and then try to take cover again. The AI is like Deer caught in the headlights. Maybe if i had the play this game when it first came out to rate it higher not sure?

I will say i finished Horizon Zero Dawn i rated that game 9/10. The only downside of that game is needs more side quest missions.

Cool story. Zelda: BotW is better than both.

Nope, that's just a nonsensical question anyway

But it's definitely better than Horizon

Second best of its generation, behind only Dark Souls.

No the game is average at best. Horizon is far better.

Last of Us >>>>> Horizon

Multiplayer in TLOU is CRIMINALLY underrated. I played that for months, and the meta game within the multiplayer is a huge hook.

Like what about it makes it best game ever made for you? The game is so linear, you lead all the time in this game. Exploration is minimal.

Great game. I preferred it over Horizon, though that was damn good as well. Not the best of the generation, but i'd definitely put TLoU in the top-tier.

Still being played had a few games of it online, was fun. I had no problem finding players to play with it.

Hope Last of US 2 will have multiplayer?

@loe12k: TLOU is less linear than you imply (try survivor or grounded mode, where you are required to dig through its environments to progress). And linearity is only an issue when a game fails to make its events/encounters impactful. There are problems if you swing too far in either direction - a game that is too open-ended is devoid of significance and equally irritating.

TLOU strikes an excellent balance between providing freedom while maintaining a driving narrative sequence.

I played it on Survivor, it was tough because you find less stuff. I finished it though. I may play it again with grounded mode when i have time? Everyone got different tastes, i guess.

Most people adore it for its story and characters.

It's in my top 10 but not the greatest.

That's fine, the story was top notch. I just did not have the feeling after finishing it this was the greatest game ever made. I was even annoyed by the ending, i will not spoil it but what the ****?

Last of Us was one of those games that I have that I enjoyed, but never really dove into. I never even touched the multiplayer(I kind of fell off of online gaming this gen).

I picked it up for $5 at a pawn shop when it was still a brand new game for PS3. I was super amped. I got home and after a few days I ended up selling it back. Graphics, acting, and story were on point. Other aspects weren't all that great plus I hate games where you have to hide from zombies to progress.

Why would you create a thread that tLoU is overrated ... 4 years after its release? The only people who ever thought it was "the best game ever" were some really blind Sony fanboys.

@loe12k: I really hope so. I thought the story was great but it was lacking in the AI department in my opinion.

That's probably why I gravitated to the multiplayer so much. It really was about strategy, being smart and quick thinking, which I fee like I didn't get from the single player.

I couldn't finish it. It bored me to death, cliche zombie apocalypse stuff with boring gameplay.

Maybe I will try it again sometime though as some of my buds also swear by it.

@loe12k: How many of the conversations/doors did you manage? It's undeniable that much of TLOU's excellence is tied to its narrative, so if such doesn't resonate, a significant portion of the game is rendered inconsequential.

But for comparison's sake, a game like Assassin's Creed - while far more open - becomes redundant quickly when its core loop is tied to gathering collectibles. And TLOU is more open than a game like Gears of War, but if you discount its narrative then it's a more reasonable argument about which game provides a better gameplay experience. TLOU's significance is invariably tied to its presentation, which it manages far better than most other games that even make such an attempt.

Another game that pretended to be stealth except you had to clear certain areas to proceed.

Fake stealth needs to die off. Hear that evil within 2? I'm talking to you too buddy.

The score is 90% why this game is so beloved. Believe it.

I really liked the game, it of course had its high and lows but it would probably go somewhere in my top 25 games. I'd call it Naughty Dog's best game ever.

Best game is purely subjective.

There will never be a game everyone agrees is the best game ever because we all have different opinions.

To answer the question, It is not my best game ever but certainly in my top 10 ever.

It's a great game, nowhere close to being the greatest of all time though.

Also I don't get why some people in here are comparing it with Horizon, but **** it, I'll do it too. I personally like Horizon much, much more.

The Last of Us is one of my favorite titles of all time for the PS3-4. The story captivated me and made me feel the characters hardships and emotions. It seems that people are comparing it to Horizon, I've played both and like both in their own way. In my opinion I think they are too different to compare (The Last of Us being linear and Horizon being open world sandbox).

My life is also currently being consumed my BoTW. <3 What a masterful game, just when I think i'm getting proficient, the game sobers me up to the truth real quick! It's very challenging depending on how you play through the game. :)

How is the DLC though?

I would disagree with that as well. It's a good story, sure, but there are other games that have had better ones. TLOU's strength when it comes to its narrative is its excellent characterization and superlative storytelling. The actual story is reasonably in line with other similar stories in this genre (though I do give it credit for its ending).

Your definition of story is too narrow. Storytelling, writing, characters, characterization, lore and things like that are all part of the story. If you take all that into consideration, there's no denying that TLoU is one of the greatest stories ever told in video games.

The story was a 10/10 but it lacked enemy variety. By the end I was sick of killing the same enemies.

It's a freakin' zombie apocalypse... that's not exactly original, you know.
