Are they even from Last of Us ?! Which chapter are they from ? I can't remember those environments.
If i had to guess i would say they are from the dlc, they look like it but too damn good to be true.
Looks like the Left behind DLC... Looks like an early render with missing assets.
These a RL photos taken from an abandoned mall for inspiration for the DLC Left Behind. They are not rendered in-game assets, only RL reference material. This is the problem with this release and peoples' expectations of it. It's a "remaster", not a "remake". To overhaul the entire game to that level of visual fidelity would take an enormous amount of resources and work to accomplish. Even with a full team, I suspect the game would be launch late next year if that be the case. Hell, with the tech designed for the PS3, I'd wager they'd probably have to build an entirely new engine of heavily modify the one they have to be able to incorporate such assets.
What we're getting is an uprezzed, better framerate PS3 game, with a few better textures, shadows, more AA, better lighting, director commentary, DLC included, with control tweaks and DS4 capabilities. Nothing more.
It's funny you say that because Half-Life 2 is like nothing else even today. I personally like Far Cry 1 gameplay better. And Crysis 1. I wish more shooters were like them 2 than Half Life 2.
Black Mesa is a remake of original Half Life not Half Life 2. To be frankly speaking I can't decide between Far Cry and Half Life 2. Both have their special places in my heart. I played it back when they both came out and it was just a blast to play them. There was nothing like it. I remember playing them continuously even though my exams were going on. Ah.....fun times. Sadly we don't get games like these any more.
And now you endlessly white knight Cryteks latest offerings. I mean.. Crysis 2/3 LOL. They are disasters in front of Crysis 1. And when it comes to graphics, C1 wins in the poly count lol. And the water is better in C1 imo. God i wish they remade a new tropical paradise stealth shooter like C1 and FC1. With these visuals..
Actually I just state fact that Crysis 2/3 is technically superior to cows beloved 900pStation exclusives that are released or there ever will be released. I never ever stated that I like Crysis 2 or 3 as a game. In fact I hate them. You weren't here when Crysis 2 was released, I'm among the group that is highly critical of the direction Crytek went after Warhead. Warhead is the last Crytek game I loved.

Ahh come off it man. You know that's not remotely true. I don't want a flame war, but you are just being unreasonable saying that. You say that both these games have more advanced graphics than anything ever yet tell me this, what does Crysis 2 have over lets say, Infamous that puts it in the dust? If you say real time GI, then you are basically saying Crysis 2 >> Any other game in existance apart from Crysis 3 because those two games are the only games I can think of with it.
Look, I know you like to troll. And don't say you don't. But what about a game that rarely sustains a polygon count above 1.2 million (Crysis 2) is beyond a game that regulary sustains over 11 million polygons to screen (Infamous)?
That is the TRUTH. Already discussed the technical features that when combine puts every damn console game yet released or to be released to shame. Famous for no shadows no where puts 11 million polygons regularly. The total world count of Famous for no shadows is 11 million. I doubt it renders above a million poly per frame.
Is there some sort of discount for those who bought the original?
No discount... If you still have the original disk version you can trade it in at gamestop, and get the new remastered version for $25. Decent deal at best if you no longer want the PS3 version.

At least there's something. There should have been a discount from the core (Sony).
I think remakes are becoming so prevalent in today's industry and they would come off as less cheap if there was an incentive for those that bought the ever more recent original versions.

Game's $50. New games retail for $60. Far as I'm aware that's not too shabby of of percentage discount.
so many jealous ones envying this game of the year game lulz. this is a upgrade to the max if they don't score this higher then they bias showin. im surprise they only selling this for only 50 dollas that's a joog playa price

you want them to score a game higher because it has better graphics?

Wrong. And it's not per frame, but for the whole scene.
The engine streams environment blocks on a 100 meters grid. Each block loads 33 MiB (Mebibytes, basically a techie version of a megabyte) of data including everything (physics, scripts, AI and particle). Below you can see a visual representation of those blocks.
Only 10 blocks are displayed at any given time. An extra 7 are loaded but not rendered to help with I/O (input/output speed) from the hard disk.
4 blocks are rendered with 48 MiB high resolution texture packs that are streamed separately.
Each object has between 1 and 3 LODs (levels of detail based on distance) for near to mid distances.
FAR LOD uses baked imposters.
The engine regularly draws over 11 million polygons for the whole scene.
There are many instances per block, with over three million instance vertices per block.
In the worst case the player can move 20 meters per seconds before overtaking the speed at which the world can be rendered.
Now just incase you try to swing it in a cul-de-sac, I will explain what this actually means before you try and make excuses.
I'm guessing you have used Cry Engine SDK quite a bit. So you will know when any game is working, the polycount changes every millisecond pretty much. So when you have a game like Crysis 2 running, it regularly displays a certain amount of polygons at one time. And that changes rapidly every split second and you can see it do so on the poly count of the engine. So as for Crysis 2, it wanders in the realms of 1.2 million polys on average being rendered by the GPU at one time.
This is on average. 1,139,441 polygons were being rendered by the GPU as that still was took..
This is about the most poly dense part of the level I could find. That's 1,833,898 polys as that still was took. This is maxed out with tessellation on.
This is a semi closed area that drops down to 795,447 polys as the still was took. Again, all these are on max settings.
Now does any of this amount anywhere near 11 million? Nope. You haven't played Infamous. It's far more geometrically dense and all the small details are finer. It's part of being able to develop for modern GPU technology with no restraints from last gen consoles. You are just in a strong state of denail lol.
Yes it's in the wordings at any given time the max poly count is not 11 million. For the whole scene can be translated to whole world. At any given instance the poly count of Famous for no shadows is not above than a million polys. Marketing at play here for fanboys. Actual developers can see through the number displayed for PR. That 11 million number is for idiots like gpuking
Really want me to again do all what I did back at Famous for no shadows thread. I saw you cherry picked some of the screens from that very thread but you didn't tokk my screens where Sceond Son has missing Shadows baked reflections and Crysis 2 dynamic lights with Realtime Reflections. How about we go and compare the wireframe of both games? Oh wait any 900pStation games scene's wireframe or you would see how pathetic the poly count actually is.
Let's get it done then, if you want. I believe you have the list of the technical features I last shared with you. Wanna play by that rule again?
Crysis 2 has local screenspace reflections, it's actually the first game to use it if I remember correctly.
Also the I think you're putting too much value on polygon dense environments, there are many graphical aspects that are more important. Crysis 3 is still one of the best looking games out there, you're making it sound like it's last gen, It's really not even if some of the assets are.
And to be running on a console at $400 is pretty awesome. For PC elitists to even compare graphics with it, is an achievement on its own.
This is very true with the exception that the game itself was rather boring and short. Divided off areas of the city with repetitive missions repeating in each section, and being beatable in 6 hours. The beauty would have served the game a whole lot more if they had put effort into the content of the gameplay, missions, and game length. Graphically, it's beautiful and beyond last gen graphics for sure.

Ehhh still alot. And its not that. They could price this game at 60 for those who have never bought the original and then discount its better for those that already have it for PS3.
