Eh, not in recent memory. I just play in moderation. Not the kind of person who refers to myself as a "Gamer" and prides myself on the hobby. I just play games and have a good time, it's not a job for me or a forced commitment. It's leisure.

Regardless really didn't get into gaming much till I was a teen. Before that I just played some DDR in the arcades and maybe some platformer dipping on a console. We had gaming devices at home, just didn't find them very interesting at the time. Would find myself getting bored very quickly with looking at some older games.

So I suppose the biggest break I had was one-third of my life, lol.

Don’t recall ever purposely taking a break from gaming. There have been times where I didn’t play any games for like a week or so but those weren’t by design though. Just had other things going on at the time.

@indy_2024: Mostly very summer.

Summer is for smoking meat (BBQ), riding motorcycles, sitting outside, and camping.

Gaming is for bad weather and the winter.

Regularly, which makes it appear as no breaks.

It was approximately 1-2 years ago. I went multiple weeks without gaming -- and I didn't miss it. If someone thinks that fasting from gaming will help them, like in Lent, then that's their prerogative. Video gaming is, in my opinion, morally neuter. One can engage in gaming in a way that's destructive, but one can also engage in a way that's righteous. It all depends on a person's reasoning behind their practice of fasting. If their motives are pure, great. If their motives are intended to brag about it, then that's wrong.

So yeah, it can be healthy to take a break. You don't have to, though (in my opinion.)

There was a year where I was playing less games because everyone was monopolizing all the TVs and consoles. But it didn't last long thanks to the Steam Deck. Then I got another console and display.

I play as little or as much as I like. When I get burnt out I have plenty of other hobbies, but it never lasts too long. Although I do take a couple weeks at a time away from online games from time to time. I think that perhaps my age is starting to catch up with me in online games... lol.

Oh well, I still plan on playing up to the day I leave this world. I'm just not at the top nearly every match these days, which makes it all that much better when I am... that's ok though, I don't mind passing the torch as long as I still feel like I'm helping my team and I'm not dead weight. An online game that really has my eye right now is Fragpunk, it looks awesome. Like Timesplitters 3 mixed with Rogue Company and Valorant. Hell yeah, sign me up.

Either way I've also gotten back into playing more single player games and have finally made it a point to actually beat them instead of getting 80-95 percent and moving on to the next big thing on my list thinking I'll go back one day. I'm about 60 hours into Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 right now, and it's one of my favorite games of all time. I haven't left a single stone unturned and haven't even made it to the second map yet.. lol.

I play games everyday of my gaming life. I can't even remember the last time I took a hiatus from gaming but I think it only happens if I'm going on a vacation for the week, I kinda consider that a break despite I'll take a handheld device, I rarely use it while enjoying my family vacation out of town.

I have plans to take a vacation this June, guess that will be the month of taking a gaming break it seems.

Well 2010 - mid 2013 was the last time I've felt burnt out with gaming... since than it's been pretty inconsistent I don't even really call them breaks since I can get on them anytime when I'm real bored. Mainly really focused on getting my mental health together

Took about 10-11 months off from May 23' to ~April 24' due to RSI issues.

was a nightmare to deal with and get accurately diagnosed, then took a while to rehab.

If you start to feel weird sensations/pain in your wrist/hand/forearm while gaming, don't ignore that shit like I did until it becomes serious. Go see a doctor about it, or ideally a experienced physio that specializes in hand therapy.

I still can't do long sessions like I used to or play mouse intensive games like fast-paced FPS or RTS for very long.

When I fly for my job I don’t game…was gone for almost a week and off for a few days to game and then gone for 3 days and so forth…I use to bring my Steam Deck but rather just enjoy my layovers and explore the cities and places I visit or just relax in the hotel

I'd do the same thing... Prioritize exploring but have the deck as my side car for the plane and maybe before bed.

Fairly recently, got pretty annoyed with movie games and the morally bankrupt business practices that it wasn't enjoyable anymore.

I think I am due for a break; I'm not really getting joy from new releases despite the volume and quality we have, and I am just replaying the same old stuff over and over again while listening to podcasts.

I don’t call these a break….but I tend to play one week yes, the next week I don’t game…at all.

And that’s a rough estimate. I really don’t have any rhythm to when I game. I just do because I want to.
