The PSP is geting owned by the DS. i dont know what fantasy world you're living in but when a machine is getting outsold by its only rival in every territory worldwide and developers support is dropping fast we call that a failure.

as for the PS3 I too believe that it will be a success in the long term but i am not naive enough to believe it will EVER approach the same level of success as its predecessors and here and now it is losing big time

Both the N-gage and Gizmondo tried to beat Nintendo in the handheld arena but failed, PSP is still putting up a fight, come on its Sony's first handheld console and it has sold 20 something million 2 years after it launched, thats awesome for a brand new handheld. DS lite helped Nintendo to gain further sales and I'm sure Sony will have a new version of PSP which will probably be anounced at this years E3. The new PSP added with a price cut will hugely boost sales just wait and see.

And about the PS3, yeah it might not reach the success of its predecessors but that does not mean it wont sell huge. PS3 is in it for the long term and this fall you will start seeing its potential. All PS3 needs is a price cut

Sony came off their last two playstations selling over 100 million and trouncing the competition to (so far) doing twice as well as the gamegear with terrible software sales and rapidly diiminishing developer support. No-one is questioning that it is the most successful non-nintendo handheld ever. But seeing as it came from the market leader at the time and it was supposed to kill the DS it is a failure. accept it and move on

Lets not forgot that bot Gundam games for the PS3 were on the list and we all know how well they sold and helped to PS3 surpass the Wii :lol:

oh yea, thats right sales spiked for the week when those games (Gundam) came out and dropped back down to normal :lol:

what most people are forgetting is that the Famistsu's most wanted list is comprised of a small portion of Japans hardcore gamers.

also most of those games for the PS3 were announced before we knew anything about the Wii, i believe the list will change once Nintendo and 3rd party developers announce more games for the Wii and DS at E3 2007

Besides, I don't consider myself a fanboy, I just have very little respect for Sony. If I were a fanboy I wouldn't own and (for the most part) enjoy my Xbox 360.

Care to show me another handheld that did that? You can't. no other handheld has ever grappled 1/3 of the market share from nintendo, ever. Sales wise, its the most successful non-nintendo handheld theres ever been. And games wise (which is all that matters), it dominates the ds.

its the same reason why they are putting the extra content in GTA4 for x360, they r afraid that the game might not sell well where on PS3 its automatic for people to buy it.

It was supposed to compete with the Game boy brand. It was supposed to take us out of the Game Boy gaming ghetto. It was supposed to compete with the ipod. It was called the walk man of the future by crazy ken. The hype that piece of sh!t had was unbelievable. 20 million units may seem o.k but the psps software sales are so low its not even funny. People are buying the psp not for its games but rather for its multimedia features and that is why its a failure.Period.

Whatever makes you sleep at night. The PSP does have great games, but it has one MAJOR problem. Easy Piracy/Homebrew. Thats why game sales are low on the PSP,no because people wanted it for its multimedia features. I dont know anyone that would want a PSP in their pocket for listening to music.
