[QUOTE="jharv"][QUOTE="OhSnapitz"] It's a real shame but that's the price of being rushed first to market.. Btw, You can't tell people to sell their 360's and get a PS3 especially if they're attached to the software that's released on the 360 already.. I can't get Halo 3 on the PS3.. I can't get Gears of War 1&2 on the PS3.. I can't get Mass effect on the PS3.. I can't get Ninja Gaiden 2 on the PS3.. I can't get PGR4 on the PS3.. I can't get Fable 2 on the PS3.. I could go on but why bother.. Besides you could purchase 2 360's for the price of the cheapest PS3 sku.. :?OhSnapitzHalf those games are available on PC. And half those games you can't even play with the SKU you're mentioning ;) Ok so I'd have to upgrade my PC ($200-$500) and buy a PS3 ($400) to get the same enjoyment I would recieve from an Xbox 360 ($200)... :| This does not compute.. :? BTW, you mind telling me which games I listed or out for that matter that I can't play on the Arcade SKU(FF XI is the only game that comes to mind)? Thanks a bunch..
lol, ownage confirmed
I'm pretty sure all launch 360's are dead.VideoGameGuymine hasnt and yeah im a little worried. If mine dies and I have to buy a new one im never buying a microsoft console ever again.
It's a shame really. I've had my nintendo since 89 still play it and don't have to worry about it. But with the 360 it seem like once ms has moved on to thier next console I won't be able to play 360 games years down the road because ms didn't pay attention to quality. It's not a very good long term console at all. TheOriginYou can't compare old consoles of that time to today's machines. With optical drives replacing solid state cartridges you inherently have a machine that won't last as long. There were few moving parts back then, compared to many now.
You may not have to spend that much on upgrading your Pc depending how old your pc is, if its been made in the last 3 years $100-300 to out do a 360's graphics. Next you can go and buy a refurbished PS3 for like $250 and work just as well as a new one. Also MS should pay for their actions and they are, The 360's still have almost a 25% death rate within the first year after they "upgraded the cooling". They have to sell 10 games to make up a cost of a broken xbox. Plus there a lawsiut againist them about disc damages from the 360 they knew about the problem before the release but still went ahead and thats why they are in court. Out of 10 people I know that has had a 360 since 2005 all of them have went through 2, half 3, and the rest 4 of them. Also about how big the replacements and fixing odf the 360's my local ups shipper says they get 30-40 360's to be shipped to be fixed a week. Thats Sad.Ok so I'd have to upgrade my PC ($200-$500) and buy a PS3 ($400) to get the same enjoyment I would recieve from an Xbox 360 ($200)... :| This does not compute.. :? How long is the Sony warranty for the PS3 over in the US?speedsix6 months. Unless you buy an optional extended warranty.
[QUOTE="johnnyblazed88"][QUOTE="world69star69"] Thats besides the point, it shouldn't of been released in its state. They knew it was broken, they have admitted it was broken and sold it anyway just to get a head start. It shameful and plain wrong, that's not treating consumers right. It should of been quality tested before release, but they didn't and the machines are still doing it 3 years after. You people need to learn what the word Quality means. Are you going to buy a car that breaks down on you every 3000 miles and just be like oh well my warrenty covers the repairs, I guess I won't drive for 3 weeks....it's the same thing, you shouldn't have to be without console for any amount of time, and if you do it shouldn't be a worldwide problem .... MS was greedy and dissed it's consumers in more ways then one.OhSnapitz
what about PS2? sony didnt even admit they made crap product and wouldnt do anything for you if it broke after a year except tell you to buy another
Yea... Sony fanboys seem to have short term memory when it comes to faulty hardware.. I went through 2 PS2's before I got one that lasted more than 2 years.. And Sony made you pay for the repairs depending on what they thought was the problem..A lot of people on this board seem to be hesitant to call out companies that release inferior products. I had DRE 3 or 4 times and never had to pay for anything beyond a box to ship it in, most customer service departments will hook an angry customer up rather than deal with them creating a stink.
this will increase 360 sales more, because early 360 owners will have to buy the console again....:roll:Ipik_Fenris
yeah, why would you spend $15 for to get it repaired when you can buy the same thing again for $200
Quick question- does anyone know if the 3 year warranty includes disc drive problems? And E74? Or is it just RROD?Floppy_JimJust RRoD as far as I know.
[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]Quick question- does anyone know if the 3 year warranty includes disc drive problems? And E74? Or is it just RROD?killerfistJust RRoD as far as I know. Oh great. That sucks because my 360 is having disc reading problems. It took ages for the damn thing to read the Gears of War 2 disc today. And people keep saying the PS2 had no extended warranty for the DRE but then neither does the 360 with it's own DRE and the E74 error. Odd :?
^^^^nice ownage cookie monster
its funny how they dont respond when you mention PS2
That's because they have no response.. The PS2 was a garbage piece of hardware (similar to the 360) until the last 2-3 years of it's lifecycle). lulz, Sony basically said "Go buy another" to anybody that had a problem. MS hardware issue seems more problematic, but at least they pretend they care about their consumers.[QUOTE="note2self"]In other news, cheese STILL expires after the date on the package.Johnny-n-Rogerrelevance?That like cheese Xbox 360's can go bad at anytime.

Sucks though, you had no luck so far with your current gen consoles.:(

I know some people who did just that. Cauise they didint want to wait forever for thier 360 to get back.
[QUOTE="speedsix"]How long is the Sony warranty for the PS3 over in the US?chansaetA year but the PS3 is a reliable system so if it doesn't die after a year most likely the system will not just a year later like most other hardware.
My PS3 died after a year, and I was charged $150 to fix their crappy blu ray drive.

I thought MS would have extended the 3 year warranty or something, but no. They haven't. I'd be pretty pissed if I was a launch owner.Floppy_JimWhy? Most hardware warranty for electronics is one year. Microsoft acknowledged the problem and extended to 3 years. Anymore would just be bad business tactics. I have a launch 360 downstairs. Not pissed at all. Granted, my upstairs 360 has RROD'd 3 times, I have yet to look at Microsoft as any less of a capable company.

I also had the DRE issue on my Launch PS2 and my warranty was up but I gave Sony a call anyways and the guy said they would pay for the repairs, all I had to pay for was shipping it to them. Many months later I got that DRE issue again so I decided to fix it myself and found it was so easy to do. I don't see how people can compare the PS2 DRE issue to the Xbox 360's RROD problem. Why? because you can easily fix the PS2's DRE issue by yourself within 5 minutes. Oh and I still have and use my Launch PS2 and it works perfectly fine.
[QUOTE="VideoGameGuy"]I'm pretty sure all launch 360's are dead.SpruceCabooseYour warranty does not renew every time you have RRoD. I am a launch owner who has had 3 RRoDs. My coverage has been over, and yes, I am slightly worried about it. Uh, I live in Canada, and when I got RROD they sent a letter saying they have extended the warranty another year. Do they not do that in the rest of the world or something?
[QUOTE="VideoGameGuy"][QUOTE="BigJerm1"]yeah you are one of those "rolling over and taking it" kinda guys i mentioned earlier. too bad.Because the game system that I've had for 3 years has never given me any problems? Yeah, you should definitely pity me. What if it were to RROD tomorrow? Oh no, I'd be out $100 to get it fixed. Or I could just go buy a brand new one for $200. Not an issue for those of us with decent jobs, really.
johnnyblazed88
what do you suggest instead of just paying the 100$ to get it fixed?
Complain, complain, and complain until they fix it for free.[QUOTE="BigJerm1"][QUOTE="VideoGameGuy"] i feel sorry for you dude.VideoGameGuy

yeah you are one of those "rolling over and taking it" kinda guys i mentioned earlier. too bad.Not at all. I'm "one of those guys" that understand that 3 years is a pretty reasonable life cycle for a piece of electronic equipment. Did MS screw up with the 360 hardware in the beginning? Yes, of course they did. However, how many manufacturers give a free 3 year warranty to make up for their mistakes? Can't name one? Didn't think so. They fixed their mistake, and have bent over backward to fix the problems caused by their manufacturing defects. If you're a fanboy and just hate MS, then so be it. You obviously aren't interested in the truth. Hell, one of my friends had his video card go bad in his launch 360, and had to pay the $100 to get it fixed. Instead of just replacing his video card, MS gutted his system, replacing the DVD drive, CPU, and adding the upgraded heat sinks, bringing his system up to the specs of the current manufacturing model. Think they HAD to do that? Get over yourself, and stop being mad that you've had your theory of "no working launch 360's" proven wrong.

Complain, complain, and complain until they fix it for free. That worked really well with Sony regarding their DRE fiasco, after all...I got mine in the first 2 months, still strong.
BTW: to people who say hardware does not last forever, true the lower the nm processing the faster the chips die of heat etc, however meh I have a sega genesis model 1 that still works. Also I have a mattel that still works too...
Your warranty does not renew every time you have RRoD. I am a launch owner who has had 3 RRoDs. My coverage has been over, and yes, I am slightly worried about it.SpruceCabooseSame. T_T If my 360 RROD's I'm gonna flip. -knocks on wood-
No. MS was forced to acknowledge the RROD problem and was forced to extend the warranty to 3 years.No. Microsoft was forced to acknowledge the RROD as a problem and forced to extend the warranty. Had many the courts not got involved then MS would've continue with the lie that the defective rate was 3-5% and it wasn't a problem.
Why?
Most hardware warranty for electronics is one year. Microsoft acknowledged the problem and extended to 3 years. Anymore would just be bad business tactics.

Got a UK launch 360 still going strong :)
360 so cheap now if it died i just get another. Dont care about my saves or anything.
I just got my 4th RRoD and since I had a launch system my warranty was done for. I decided to just go get a new one (with the Jasper chipset). Worst thing with all this is more the crap service dealing with liscenses and how you can only use their damn tool once a freakin year :|.-RPGamer-
Sorry to hear that man. :(
I only bought my 60GB 360 a couple of months ago but I'm still worried about RRoD.
Would be nice if MS would change the mainboard of the launch 360's when they come in for RROD with the latest mainboards. (not sure if that's possible though)
http://www.destructoid.com/launch-day-xbox-360s-no-longer-under-three-year-warranty-coverage-119903.phtmlif your launch 360 didn't fail under normal use in three years the chances are it's NOT going to fail any time soon.
It was slightly extended, but it is now over. Any launch day owners worried?EVOLV3

Sarcasm detector should be off the chart.
Theres a couple of thing wrong with the design with the 360. 1. Poor quality of parts bought from the cheapest supplier.
2. Bad placements of items on the mainboard cpu, gpu, etc., Everything is to close to each other creating a heat bubble.
3. Very poor cooling, even with the new heat pipes there are still a cooling issue mainly because of problem # 2, if they added forced intake airflow where the ventlation is everything would be much cooler helping to prevet the RRoD which is cause from the "heat bubble" that gets so hot that it warps the mainboard and the solder cracks breaking connects.
