Left 4 Dead > All

I must say I am a hardcore Counter-strike source fan. Not since that game has an FPS really enthralled me like L4D has. I wasn't even hyping this game but, on a whim, downloaded the demo on PC. It is easily the most addicting demo I have played and has put a standstill on my gears of war 2 progress. I think l4d may take the FPS crown for FPS of the year and will be a Runner for GOTY (which would be amazing as it is only mainly a multiplayer game. If the demo Co-op is this amazing, I can't imagine what it will be like as a competitive multiplayer as well. Almost every magazine and internet site has hyped this game since E3 and I now actually believe it. This may actually replace my counter-strike addiction and is definitely MANY MANY grades above Gears of War:

1. From an originality standpoint

2. From a competitive standpoint

3. The source engine 2008 has been well updated and optimized more than Unreal Engine 3 (even if UE3 is technically more advanced).

I don't know the game looks too hectic... a lot of friendly fire and the fishbowl view is very annoying.

LEFt4DEAD is the game of the year hands down. The demo is better hten almost all the games i bought this year.

Great to see a game like this be such a breath of fresh air. Some of the msot fun ive ever had gaming has been with this demo.

Well when you see people having played the demo 15 hours in less than 4 days? Yes, I would say it is simply amazing. A DEMO FOR 15 HOURS!!!! I have almost 190 games on Steam and this is my favorite by far. I have played MGS4 (Amazing), Little Big Planet (OH MY), Crysis Warhead (WOW), and many other fantastic games this year but none of them is as addicting as L4D. Sorry folks, L4D= Addicting= I can't stop= WoW cannot compare in terms of addictiveness (is that even a word?).

what originality all they did was make a poor man 's Resident Evil game with zombies and add co op with has been around for awhile now . oh please there is nothing original about the game at all . Valve should thank their lucky stars that Resident Evil 5 is not coming this year cause if it was Left 4 dead would be exactly that left 4 dead on the shelves .

2. From a competitive standpoint (I thought this was a co-operative game? What makes it competitive, let alone more competitive than Gears of War? On top of that, doesn't Gears of War have it's own Horde mode?"

Try the game first troll before you trash it. Its the best zombie game ever imo and thats just the demo.
This is also the best coop game ive ever played. It brings alot of new things to the table and the fun factor is higher then any other gam eive played this gen or last.

LOL amazing!!! 24 hours for a freaking demo. As the TC said, L4D > All. Jodan, the game is simply addicting. Valve does what Nintendo wishes they could. Not make a graphic powerhouse of a game, focus on the gameplay and have it be the most addicting game this year and possibly this generation. Valve > All.

I'd be enjoying the demo way more if it wasn't for the matchmaking system, wait wait wait.. Hopefully they will get around this soon.

That's not confirmed, PC gamers hacked a split screen on the demo, and more than half the topics in that Steam Thread are from people complaining that they can't get it to work :lol:

Game literally never gets old. I'm been playing the PC demo for near 10 hours now. Expert is insane...have beaten it very few times on expert so far. And this is only the first 2 scenarios out of 20 scenarios. It's only going to get more difficult. Advanced is difficult as well. And it's literally different every single time through.

The game just seems to have so much staying power in terms of everything. Mods and user maps are going to extend this even further. Versus mode is going to insane as well. Playing as boss undead is going to be incredible.

PC demo surpassed all my expectations. I wanna say GOTY but I know that's very premature. At least multiplayer GOTY, by far.

But that's what you get when you overclock an 8800 and set the fan speed to 95%. My 360 is still louder though.
