HAHA you swear this game is visually demanding

Playing this on a 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio Plasma outweighs the extra resolution of the PC version.

GioVela2010

No no no. playing this on a 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio Plasma with the extra resolution of the PC version >>>>> 1,000,000:1 DCR used with upscaled, jaggy-fest graphics produced by consoles.

You won't be doing either

I play pc games at 1080p on my hdtv.

/fail

I just dont think spending thousands on a setup, only to see all those retina-damaging jaggies produced by consoles, is worth it.

4xAA, 16xAF is a must if you're spending big.

Plasmas do a better job of hiding jaggies. Far Cry 2 has virtually no jaggies on my 360/Plasma

Those powerful GPU's also don't cost anywhere near as much as a Plasma Television so the GPU is a better buy in terms of price and performance. ;)

Why are we arguing about Graphics? Left 4 Dead looks fantastic, especially in motion, but nobody would argue it's graphics king.

The Gameplay in both will be nearly identical.

I wasn't even really all that hyped for this game looking at all the previews and such, and just randomly decided to try the demo. Since I downloaded this yesterday, I have already put in almost 7 hours and this may be my new favorite multiplayer game. :D (Will probably most likely just switch between L4D and TF2)

Exactly, which is why a Plasma with much higher contrast (1,000,000:1 DCR vs 3000:1), much bigger size (my 50" Plasma has 415% more viewing area than a 22" Monitor) and with better viewing angles for split screen more than makes up for the extra native pixels of the PC version.

I understand why Hermits would think upscaled games look crappy tho, your $250 dollar monitors have horrible virtually useless video processors built in.

It's not confirmed, some PC gamers hacked the demo, and more than half the replies of that thread are people complaining they can't get it to work.

I must say I am a hardcore Counter-strike source fan. Not since that game has an FPS really enthralled me like L4D has. I wasn't even hyping this game but, on a whim, downloaded the demo on PC. It is easily the most addicting demo I have played and has put a standstill on my gears of war 2 progress. I think l4d may take the FPS crown for FPS of the year and will be a Runner for GOTY (which would be amazing as it is only mainly a multiplayer game. If the demo Co-op is this amazing, I can't imagine what it will be like as a competitive multiplayer as well. Almost every magazine and internet site has hyped this game since E3 and I now actually believe it. This may actually replace my counter-strike addiction and is definitely MANY MANY grades above Gears of War:

1. From an originality standpoint (What's so original about a retail version of a stolen concept from mods since the begining of shooters?)

2. From a competitive standpoint (I thought this was a co-operative game? What makes it competitive, let alone more competitive than Gears of War? On top of that, doesn't Gears of War have it's own Horde mode?"

3. The source engine 2008 has been well updated and optimized more than Unreal Engine 3 (even if UE3 is technically more advanced).

insanejedi

It is an original way to approach an online co-op with a very intense and gritty zombie game that actually works and no it isn't anything like those mods.

Secondly it is NOT only co-op, it is also competitve where it is players (survivors) Vs other players playing as Zombies...all with different special abilities (climb walls, see through walls and have special powers) This will prove to be a very competitive game (leagues above other's in this genre. THis is also coming from a competitive CS:S player. This game is amazing but since you haven't played it, nor haven't really educated yourself about it...I guess I am talking to a wall.

ya i kinda feel silly spending 60 bucks a pop for FPS (gears of war 2, h3, etc) with very little replay value when I can switch between 20-45 dollar games on steam from my computer with replay that lasts me years!

Crysis Warhead is $30, has 6 hour campaign and vastly improved multiplayer. You also seem to forget that it's a stand alone expansion. That's great value for price.

After hearing how impressed people have been wtih the demo ,and reading how much effort Valve are putting into the game, I really do think it might both score very well and be a SHOTY contender.

GioVela2010

6 Hour very replayable singleplayer, that trounces the first in terms of pacing, design and scripted sequences.

While it lasts its fantastic, and levels can be done in multiple ways.

Also has a great stand alone multiplayer component that is a substantial step fowards from the original.

Its easily one of the best, if not the best 'value for money' shooters this year.

If you are going to troll, at least put some effort into it :|

So your buddy= the whole gaming the community? People finish games at different rates than others, I finished it in about 5 hours, and my friends in in-between 5-7 hours. Again, it's a stand alone expansion that's $30, so it has a reason to be shorter than other games.

Just stop telling me it's a 6 hour game when I've seen it finished in a long (because it was boring) 2 hours

GioVela2010

Only if you stop insisting it's a 2 hour game when my friends and I finished it in 5-7 hours. People finish games at different rates. If your friend finished it in 2 hours, it doesn't mean everybody will. From what I've read, the average playtime is about 5-6 hours. Also, being boring is an opinion.

I'll refrain from posting in this thread for a while. This is about L4D, and how L4D is better because of Online Split Screen Multiplayer on a big screen.

Link to somebody beating GeoW in an hour?

I'm sure I can find at least 3 people in PC forums saying they beat Warehead in 2 hours.

Nice try tho.

You must be finding it difficult to recognise a point in my statement.

Read again.

I don't believe you beat GeOW in 1 hour, I posted proof that Crysis can be beat in 2 hours. Try again.

A screenshot of a forum post is proof to you? Wow...

The dude has 1700 post at Overclock.net, and runs two 8800GT's in SLI. You think he's a hermit hating troll or something?

Oh yeah, well this guy has 13926 posts and owns and Xbox 360, and he says he can beat GeOW in 1 hour.

He couldn't be lying, could he? See what I'm getting at?

One of our quotes is a lying damage controling Hermit from this very thread, the other quote is a PC Gamer from Overclock.net who gives honest opnions. In fact his OP is raving about how great the game is. But fact is, he beat it in 2 hours on hard.

Doesn't change the fact that they're both forum posts from random people. It also doesn't change the fact that just because one guy says that he finished a game in two hours doesn't mean everybody else will.

Such horrible DC

Just answer the question, can Warhead be finished in 2 hours, and can GeoW be finished in 1 hour? Be honest with yourself for once

I don't believe GeOW can be finished in 1 Hour (if you believe I thought that, you missed the whole point of my post), and you haven't given enough evidence to prove Crysis Warhead can be beaten in 2 hours.

HAHA you swear this game is visually demanding

Playing this on a 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio Plasma outweighs the extra resolution of the PC version.

anshul89

No no no. playing this on a 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio Plasma with the extra resolution of the PC version >>>>> 1,000,000:1 DCR used with upscaled, jaggy-fest graphics produced by consoles.

You won't be doing either

I play pc games at 1080p on my hdtv.

/fail

That's a 768p LCD

I would hate playing split screen on a TN-Panel LCD of that size.

My proof is just as valid as yours.

He says he beat it in 2 hours ,I say I beat GeOW in 1 hour.

There is no difference between how valid either is.

Its just words, not proof or evidence.

That was the point of my post to begin with

Instead you took it literally.

How you did that, who knows.

Live with it, and try and be a bit Canny.
