Not that I am really suprised MS is making a newer version of the 360 and crapping on its current consumers only ONE AND 1/2 YEARS after the intial release of the 360, but come on!

The main reason I am upset is the new stuff on the latest 360 CANT be put on the old ones.  (HDMI connectivity, new antialliasing chip inside.) Basically the games will look better on the new black 360's than on the old ones and their is no current way to change that.  And who needs a 160 gig hard drive for their 360?  I stopped downloading demos when they all began to suck and it took 5 hours to get one of them.  Why do I need 160 gigs?

And I hate to say it, but with the extra $179 price tag, I would of expected them to include HDDVD drive.  Poor decision in my idea on MS's fault to upgrade their console after such a short period of time.

As an early adopter, I too dislike MS's idea of bringing in improved hardware (whether I can use it or not is not the issue here. The bottom line is that the Elite is better than the Premium) just 1.5 years after launch. That being said, improved hardware is improved hardware. And those who held off from buying an Xbox360 earlier now have a chance to purchase an amazing system. I only wish MS would have given early adopters the same chance at launch.

I have a premium, and I couldn't care less. The premiums a way better deal IMO, but this is the first Iv'e heard of a new AA chip, I'm pretty sure that it is exactly the same as the older 360 except for HDMI.

yep! poor plan by MS. everytime i think of the elite i say that microsoft was in a hurry to release the 360 and they didnt include features like the ps3 and putting a 400 dollar price tag. and now putting 170$ extra and nothing new really isnt really any good thing. i would rather see MS make a good plan for the 360 rather than oh the ps3 has memory lets make memory. or probably after the elite they will make x360 supreme adding 200$ with HD-DVD. Its obvious that MS is trying to milk the lemmings.

MS wouldnt include HDDVD because there scared that blueray will win. sony however is taking a HUGE risk, but taking smart steps to try and make it work

I don't see what the issue is here, and I don't see why anybody is acting like this is something that has never happened before. Most recent consoles have been upgraded over the course of their lifespan. I don't see how this is anything unexpected or new.

The HDMI output really only seems useful for HD-DVD movies, and that was never something that I planned on buying.

I personally think it's ridiculous that people are making a big deal about the HDMI port (as that's the only thing you can't add to a current 360)

I mean really, lets not forget that there were a total of 12 Ps2 versions with later editions having better picture when playing DVD's and having a built in ethernet port.

I don't know why someone wouldn't still buy the Premium. The Elite is a joke. HDMI is a negligable difference for the vast majority and $179 more for a bigger HD is ridiculous.

It's only $80 more. ($480-$400 = $80) For a HDD that is 6x larger than that of the Premium. I think the Elite is a great purchase if you are making it for the 1st time. Those good feelings disappear rather quickly if you've purchased a Premium Xbox360 and if you want an Elite. (Yes, I know there isn't a significant difference. But there are those out there that want the latest and greatest piece of hardware.)

Ok..so suddenly it is off Nintendo for ripping us OLD DS users off with the Lite and now Microsoft is suddenly "bad" for making a remake for the console in ONE AND A HALF YEARS when Nintendo made theirs in LESS than a YEAR after the original DS launched..and they are doing the same with the Wii, yet they are all good and such. I find this funny. By the way, Microsoft still is bad for charging everyone $479 for the Elite, but hey,it's new and it probably needs that price to survive and stay limited.

Listen to the OXM podcast where they interview someon at MS about the Elite.

The better chipset in the Elite is a myth.  It contains the exact same hardware as the Premium except for the HDMI port and 120gb HDD

There is no new AA chip, fanboys need to stop making crap up and stop acting 12 years old. I'd rather have a 360 anyway cause of the games, I still am enjoying my 360 and I'm waiting for a reason to get a Ps3(there is none right now)

I really don't care about the new 360.  I'm waiting for the HDD price to drop so I can pick up a core system.

The Elite is different from the premium.

It's black, has a 120 (NOT 160) gig HDD, and an HDMI port.

THAT'S IT.  No revised chipset, no new AA chip. Unless you have a 1080p HDTV without a VGA or DVI input, and the HD-DVD player with a Dolby Digital+ or DTSHD receiver with HDMI inputs, you are not getting anything worth an upgrade. Buy the big HDD if you want, that's the only real advantage of the Elite.
