http://www.gamespot.com/news/6168886.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;more;15

Not even two weeks after it's release, RedOctane & Harmonix are charging you even farther the $90 you just spent for Guitar Hero 2 with "song packs" that should have come standard with the retail copy:|

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/adventure/bulletwitch/news.html?sid=6168288&om_act=convert&om_clk=gsupdates&tag=updates;title;1

This game is trash when it released back at the end of February in the first place. They didnt deliver on their promise on the costumes, additional missions, etc. being released originally on the disc. Well, now theyre here, and theyre only charging you 20 points a pop for the half-a-dozen or so items. Oh, but Japan had this content long before the US lemmings did. Guess what else? They got it all for free...

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/gearsofwar/news.html?sid=6168792&om_act=convert&om_clk=mostpop&tag=mostpop;title;1

Essentially, Epic and Gears Of War Online players (you lemmings) got flat-out ***** from behind by yours truly. This content was intended to be free, until Micro$oft put their greedy hands around Mark Rein's neck and demanded a price tag for it to be distributed. Of course, you can wait 6-8 months later and get it for free, in which 80% of GEOW's Online fanbase will be done with them, and ready to move on to Halo 3 online. Microsoft, now this is a company who takes care of their consumers...$;)

Now you lemmings know I could go on and on with this bash but I just want to get to the bottom of this: Why do you guys succumb to these pathetic actions by Microsoft and Developers by buying this stuff that should come standard? Why would you pay for material that other XBL Continets and PC gamers get for free? Microsoft wants to give you guys "achievement" points? Some real "achievment points" would be awarding those songs from the original GH as an unlockable after you complete GH2 on certain difficulty levels, or give GEOW players those maps free when they reach a certain rank online.

Or... you can just continue to allow "the man" to screw you over harder than Walmart & Circuit City chains screw over their employees. It's not my matter, just trying to lead you in the right direction. I just pray that Sony won't do the same to PSN users.

It took years for MS to get screwing us over down pat, don't you worry the PS3 will catch up in this respect just as it will catch up in the other ways they are behind the curve.

You are an absolute fool if you don't think these are coming to the PS3 as well, and then how can a fanboy answer the question: If you have all that space on blu-ray, why wasn't it added in the first place?  Now this won't pertain to all things but the issue will come up with a car or something in the next Need for Speed or something.

The second thing, is that if this doesn't become the case, you should probably be thanking the 360 and their owners for it being the testing ground for shoddy mictrotransactions.  Of course it is the internet, so why would people do anything but try to one up their 'brethren'.

and the cows dont? they have a system that officially only costs 600 dollars now, no 500 dollar..ect argument any more, Every game released for the system so far has been a flop, or its scored lower then the 360 version, They had massive problems in selling the system, it has great launches then a week later *this includes japan and america* demand for the system plummits, It was pushed back for nearly a year....yet cows still follow it and pay 600 dollars for it... hmmmm so i guess the same thing can be said of teh cows.

First off, Home hasnt launched yet. Don't bash it until theres something worth bashing.

Blu-Ray is being heavily used for games, not just movies. And when you consider the included Wifi, 60GB's, Memory Card Slot, and included Rechargeable battery, the Blu-Ray is just an added bonus.

The 80 Gig PS3 has not been confirmed, so lets remove that straw. Also, how does Motion Sensing affect pricing?:|

I never said Sony wouldnt charge for extras, I only said I hope they don't-dont put words in my mouth.

Isn't this stuff optional?

About the Gears of War thing, Microsoft is only trying to push the industry forward. People act like they're allergic to downloadable content at a fee, and the industry is moving into this area. Well, how do you get rid of allergies? I mean, why put all this marketing money, time, and what-not into expansion packs when they can offer the content online in little bits. In doing that, developers won't have to throw money at advertising, they have the ability to release the content as it finishes, and consumers can pick up what they enjoy whilst ignoring that which they would rather not have.

About the Guitar Hero 2 thing, you have to remember that developers have to go through polishing, and certification while they worry about their timeline. A lot of developers figure that they won't be able to release content by launch, so they continue to work on it as post-launch content. Gears of War's first 2 maps were a great example of this.

In defending Microsoft further, I will remind you that it was Microsoft who updated their 'rules' for developers as far as online content goes. Previously, developers could sell 'keys' to unlock content already on-disk, Microsoft has now prevented them from doing this, as this isn't the industry's idea of the future of downloadable content, and it most certainly isn't fair to their consumers.

Stabby2486

How many games are available for download on the PC (with a cost)? Obviously due to the PC's design, they are leaps forward in this area, and consoles will reach that point eventually. Steam, episodic games, downloadable retail games, etc. are all proof of this. My argument was that paying for content online is an idea which many gamers feel uncomfortable with, and Microsoft is simply trying to move things along. I am not comparing platforms.

[QUOTE="Rob2223"]kinda like PSHome?Rob2223

and blu ray, and the 20 gig ps3 that was really just an experiment, and the soon to be 80 gig ps3, and motion sensing functions....

Oh and yes we all know that sony will not charge for its online stuff, nope any thing that will add to the system or games will be free of charge, yep every single map, character...ect released from now till...forever will be free...yep

Just as I expected, lemmings try to dodge the original topic by blaming Sony for something...

:| or i could use wired controllers? look, you dont NEED any of these options. so stop trying to force products on people (kinda like sony does)

You will NEED a wired controller is another $40 bucks if you dont want to switch/recharge batteries. That is unless you bought the core, and you will NEED a hard drive to get online. One way or another, you arent getting the full packag and theres no way around that. Blu-Ray is needed, it games are using more than 9 GB's which is more than a DVD can hold.

As for that avatarr situation you brought up, what if I don't want to spend $20 - $60 for a game just to get a certain atavar?:|
