For the first year of the Wii's life-cycle the wii remote was often called a gimmick and a fad but now that Microsoft and Sony are both rumoured to be developing their own special controller have your feelings changed? If so what would you like to see changed/adjusted in the new controllers?

I like how the Sixaxis is being used in games as more of a side-item. I wouldn't really like a game built completely built around motion controls the way Wii games often are.

Done right, possibly. I don't want it standard, and I don't want a cheap, blatant ripoff.

I think the fact sony did it was dumb and I feel the same way with MS if they do it. Sony and MS should stick to what they are good at and let nintendo do watever they do.

No, definitely not. Maybe like the Sixaxis, but I voted no because I think you were implying a Wii-like controller, which I scream no to. I got my Wii for that, I want my other consoles to be gamepad oriented.

Nah, though it would be funny if both of them decided to implement voice commands as their primary method of input.

Exactly, if that were to happen it could destroy the traditional methods of console gaming which long time enthusiasts value so much. While innovation is good, I would still like to have the option of using a gamepad.

I like the Wii and all, but would be fine with it if it had a traditional gamepad as well. I only need to deal with motion controls on one console, not all 3. PS3 sixaxis really doesn't count a motion controller. :P Though as others have said, a sort of side addon like it (which was more effective) could be cool.

Well i dont mind gimmicks if they allow you to turn it on/off. Some ps3 games have cool sixaxis controls(on) and the rest of them have horride sixaxis controls(off).

As long as I can still use my normal controller for all of the games, I don't have a problem with more options.

nope i like the sixaxis. motion sensing shouldn't be the main function of the controller it should just be a fun thing to maybe add a little emmersion. like folklore pulling the folks out or reloading in siren.

I agree completely.

It's a nice addition but it's nothing extraordinary or anything, which is fine.

NO! I own all 3. Leave the motion sensing to the Wii. I don't want ALL gaming to shift to "wiggle the controller to move your character".

look i like the way the ps3 done it. I flicked the remote up to reload my gun. Which was pretty cool and i also like the motion in Heavenly Sword.

I dont want a game to be completly motion sensored, just some things. Like in GTAiv i have option to use it or not. (which i only used it for reloading and flying the helicopters)

Agreed. To be honest, I'd rather just press buttons. SMG is fun and all, but I got sick of having to swing my arm every time I wanted to attack.

Swing your arm? You only need to move your wrist a bit.. Waggle aside though I think a feature that would greatly benefit the controllers would be a pointer of some kind. I can't speak highly enough of the pointer on the wiimote.

The Wii doesn't have any games where you "wiggle the controller to move your character" that I can think of.

To which games do you refer?

God no!! The sixaxis only worked well in 3 games that I've tried, Folklore, R&C:ToD and fl0w. In most other games it just annoys the **** out of me, steering bullets/arrows with my controller??? **** off!!!

yeah as long as it is not the standard controller. As long as I can play with it from time to time and I'm not forced to play with it, I mean it is a gimmick but it's fun to play every once and a while and I think there could be some really cool arcade games that would come out on LIVE and PSN.

Motion controllers can be good if it is apply to the right game, who wouldn't want to point and shoot at the screen in an FPS. It just doesn't need to tack onto every game in some way. It should be configurable so if people want to use it they can but likewise there are people that do not want to deviate from the norm so normal contols should still be used. The Wii has taught us something that when it is done right it can make the gaming experience more enjoyable. But also it has shown us that it doesn't work for all games, just look at the much rubbish is released on the Wii with nonsense controls that don't work.

no, but I wish there were some decent light-guns with decent light-gun games (as if Time Crisis 4 did a good job at home). the Wii is technically incapable of handling a game like House of the Dead 4 (cuz of teh graphix!!11) and that game is probably the best light gun shooter out there. it'd be awesome to bring that experience home.
