Its dumb. There's no way you can play a RTS accurately on a gamepad. Wiimote - yes.

i'd only get a console RTS if it:

Has unique design that sets itself apart from the huge amount of gems over the years out there on the PC platform, that focuses on the systems strengths.

So far nothing has been of the sort. End War was pretty good (although nothing genre shaking at all) - I like its micro management, Halo Wars looks uninspiring as hell - the only thing it has going for it is the Halo IP, and Socom Tactical Strike on the PSP, is still damn awesome, even if it limits your to command of only two, two man units (but packs on tactical flexibility).

The answer of "can an RTS work on a console" is Tom Clancy's Endwar. That game lacked depth but was going somewhere with it's controls. It was fast, snappy, and intuitive. How you make a console RTS is not to take a PC RTS and port it over, the idea is to make an RTS that was made for consoles to begin with. Endwar is the result of that.

You can never micro anything fast enough with your mouth. This is why RTS is always best played on a computer. That being said I hope blizzard doesn't try to pull off that starcraft 64 thing again on SC2.

I sort of agree, End War wasn't really an RTS as much as it was a RTT. You would need to do a whole lot of talking to make a conventional RTS work by voice commands, and when you would have to do so many commands vocally it would probably end up being a slower way of inputing commands. It worked ok for endwar, but I don't know if its something that should be fully intargrated into all RTS's. Maybe if there was some way of combining the best of both worlds then I would be interested in seeing how that would work. However, what would be so bad about a console port of Starcraft 2? Why do you wish that more people don't have access to it? Would it really hinder your ability to enjoy it on your computer knowing that people could play it on their consoles? Just because RTS's are generally best played on a computer does not mean that they are not worth playing or not enjoyable on any other system.
