Traditionally a bad idea to get a console at launch, for all sorts of reasons. And this launch is already looking quite shabby. "New and shiny" can only block away a finite amount of rationality. Finally listening to that voice of reason and am canning my PS4 order.

To each their own but the Ps4 has some pretty amazing launch games hence the reason im getting one this year.. it has knack (played the demo and enjoyed it so its a must buy ), killzone: shadow Fall ( this baby looks like an amazing shooter ), Call of Duty: ghosts, BF4 and AC4 all make it worth buying this year plus infamous second son next year :D

None of these really seem like a disaster. Just sounds like standard procedure these days for releasing high tech products. They have lackluster exclusive lineups, but when you look at them overall (BF4, CoD: Ghosts, AC4) they aren't really that bad.

Sony is getting a lot of love, but their side of things haven't been exactly smooth either. Aren't launches always disasters though?

PS4 launch looks good so far afaik. Nice launch lineup, preorders throught the roof worldwide (even matching or beating Xbone on its home market), good price. Didn't get what you consider messed about it from what you wrote TC.

Depends on where you're at. I can play all those on PC. Exclusives is what matters to me

I think he means that the PS4 has awful exclusives whereas the XBox One has one of the best launch lineups ever whether people want to admit it or not.

I agree TC. That's why I'm not getting neither at launch. Can you imagine waiting outside for days for a ps4 and bringing it home and playing Knack?!? Lmao. Fail. The launch games are hellabad. No thanks.

I have always bought a launch day console and I always will. There is just something about having the latest and greatest to play your games on. Yeah sure I could just wait and stick with my 360, but why? I have the $$$ and if anyone solely bases a console purchase strictly on launch day offerings, then you are missing the boat.

I am getting a PS4 at launch because of Killzone Shadow Fall. I will have plenty of multiplats to play as well. Thinking ahead to early 2014 I will get to experience Infamous, Drive Club, The Order 1886 and more awesome multiplats. The PS4 has plenty to keep me busy plus being the more powerful of the two consoles and $100 less expensive makes complete sense to me in making a day one purchase!

Most launches are thin, honestly. I would hold off on both, but I like Dead Rising 3. They'll beef up. Just a matter of time.

I'm very pumped for the X1 and its launch lineup, I'm genuinely looking forward to Ryse/KI/DR3/Crimson Dragon/Forza5 and a few MP games. Comparing this to past launches, I don't feel it's lacking at all. This is the first time we get a nice fighting game at launch.....Forza is currently the best racing series around and to have it on day 1 is also nice.

To be quite honest, right now I'm very satisfied with my 360 still....I'm trying to get as much playtime with GTA5 as possible, it's just an amazing game. I have several games still in my backlog I want to clear before Nov 22....so for me all is good and this is going to be one nice winter!

Your wrong this has probably been the greatest launch I have ever been involved im, nothing this big has happened, Xbox 360 launched a whole year before ps3, ps2 came out a year before Xbox which was a new contender while Sony had already a big foot in with the ps1. Sega Dreamcast was doomed because of the mess of Sega Saturn. Ps1 and n64, ps1 was revolutionary with its use of cds instead of cartridges. Snes and sega mega drive they came out at different times as well. Man we probably are seeing the best looking graphics off the bat probably the biggest launch line up ever and this time around the fans are very much hyping everything up. The consoles are good they are a step up from both consoles, everything will be fine, all this rubbish is being drummed up by gqn boys and everyone taking things and spinning it round for there advantage

Crimson Dragon (huge fan of Panzer Dragoon and it has devs that worked on the previous titles)

Killer Instinct has some good devs behind it from Street Fighter 2 and Tekken and I love what I've seen so far on twitch

Those are the 3 main games for me but there are a few others that look good too but I'm not interested as much in the genres they are in.

The fact that alluring exclusive launch titles for a mature audience on the PS4 are completely absent outside of Killzone is not "supposition".

It's a fact and the reason I, or any of my friends, won't be buying a PS4 until at least April or so.

Ideally yes but its not like if you are on the fence that you'd be able to just get a PS4 at launch after being convinced by reviews in November.

Most launches are a disaster in terms of software. These 2 are no different (anyone saying otherwise is a fanboy, nuff said). I'll still own both by the end of next year though.

X1's launch is a disaster marketing wise. However Sony have played it beautifully from the start. I don't see how they could possibly have done anything better.
