Let's admit it - Most of us never finish our games.

I never finished BioShock 2.

I never finished The Witcher.

I never finished Red Dead Redemption.

I never finished Crysis.

The list goes on. I daresay the only games I have completed recently are Dragon Age 2 and Crysis 2.

The problem is two-fold. Some of us only have so much time to play video games - we may have families, and we may have fulltime jobs that occupy most of our time. On the other hand, some games have such terrible pacing (I'm looking at you, Witcher) that it's often a pain to go ahead and finish them.

Games are getting shorter - and it's not a bad thing. Content that doesn't necessarily entertain can be cut. Not all games have to forty hours long.

I am still in college - and hence, I have at least twenty hours to dedicate to gaming per week - but I often only get 5-10 hours in per week at most if I am not playing a new release. I daresay I will have even less free time when I join the workforce.

Yeah I fall into the full time job category. But I have a backlog of games so long, that I will be in this gen well into the next. Which my wallet loves. I didnt finish Bio 2, liked it, but wasnt compelled. Havent finished Dead Space, Dragon Age 1, oh what's the point, your right TC. But my plan is to not buy consoles next gen and plumb these for as long as I can, plus, my consoles are BC so I have many last gen games to play. Rather go PC next gen.

Yeah sure I can rack off a very long list of games I haven't finished, but that is because I simply don't enjoy the games, not because I'm lazy or don't have enough time. I always finish games I enjoy and often play them more than once. With the exception of Heavy Rain where my save game corrupted after 20 hours -.- I was actually about to punch a hole in my TV.

I don't think it'd be possible for me to finish all of my games, while still having time to do things like sleep or socialise.

Still, I do aim to finish as many as possible (only to buy tons more thanks to online sales).

The only games i havn't finished are SC2, Far Cry on the PC - never will finish cos I thought it started gettin lame, half-life on pc - again once i saw that giant spider thing, i just though, no thanks. I also have not finished modnationracers, that's about it.

I always at least finish the campaign a few times. Games that have a completion percentage are a different matter which depends on the game, for me at least.

I only work part time, but I've been working 40-56 hours a week for the past 3 months, so I don't have a whole lot of time to play. It's like this: When I'm working a lot of hours I'm gaining a lot of money to buy games which adds to my backlog, but when I'm not working much I have time to finish the games, and I'm not buying much. I need to work part time hours to finish the games I have. Problem is that isn't realistic. I need to get a full time job so I can get out my parents' house. :(

i have a ton of games i've never finished but a lot of them i've never intended to really play let alone finish

some of them i've gotten so close to the end before just giving up.. I've been at the final boss fight in Dead Space 2 since it came out.. haven't really played it since I tried to beat it a couple times though

other times I'll beat a game like 5-10 years after I get it. Recently I finally beat Vagrant Story, FF VI, FF IV, FF III. My wife and I just beat NSMBWii after only completing the first world when it came out.

This is pretty much why I avoid open world games. Though I did finally get around to beating GTA IV. Kind of made some progress in Chinatown wars recently too. Oh and I made some decent progress in Miles Edgeworth recently.. im seriously like 10-30mins from beating it and I'm just taking forever to get around to it. I think I beat MnL:PiT recently after giving up half way through it.. I think I beat BIS before it.

This reminds me.. I need to finish GoldenSun DS already... not really that close to beating it but i still invested a good amount of time into it. I play way too many games though at the same time I really don't... When I do though I binge.. dang gotta beat Vanquish...

I haven't finished R.U.S.E., and that's the only game (recently) that I haven't finished. Still stuck on the last level, lol.

Or, for that matter, MGS4 (Nope, haven't finished it. I think I'm still in the middle of the game, in the snowy level)

Most games I don't finish. There are quite a few games in my collection I got all the way to the final boss and never bothered. You would think, since I got that far I might as well finish the game, right?

Long games can be easily experienced in short playtroughs at a time, until completed, and last far longer having a more fleshed out experience which is a far more worthwile one, for people and their money. It'll be a much more memorable experience, if it's longer. If you enjoy the game, ofcourse. Look at it like this, it's as if your enjoying one of your favorite TV series.

It took me roughly 2 months to finish Xenogears, it's a 60-70 hours long game, and i played it 30min.-1 hour hour a day, due to very limited time.

I honestly don't get this association, long games and little free time. It's not like you can't play the game 20 - 30 minutes, save, and continue later after a couple of days, then again playing 20 - 30 minutes, then again play later.

What's the problem here?

I actually try to and most of the time I do finsh my games, but thats because I really dont buy many in the first place. Sure those cheap steam deals are tempting but then I think, would I actually like the game even if it was on sale for 5$? or am I just buying it for the sake of owning another game on my steam?

I would say I finish 90% of mine. It is only when I buy a cheap game and take the gamble that I sometimes don't finish it. right now that applies to Bioshock, STALKER, Witcher, and some more I think. I plan on beating the Witcher so I can be ready for 2 though. That said, I just beat Darksiders and Mass Effect and am now going on to Mass Effect 2. I generally stick with a game and if it keeps me entertained I beat it.

This is pretty much the first gen where I'd have to include myself as leaving too many games incomplete but that's because it seems this gen, there are just so many must have games and not enough time in the year to play them all.

Yeah Okami for me too. Do you agree that the game holds your hand too much and just kind of lingers on without going anywhere? IDK I think it is overrated. Darksiders is a better Zelda ripoff IMO :P.

I only start playing games these days that I have an intention of finishing right at the start - I also try to keep it so I have one, at most two, games on the go at any one time. Cetain games really eat away a your time - online shooters, MMOs, sports sims... If you want to complete more games try to limit the time you ump into these genres, they can go on forever.

Finish... well, I don't complete every objective possible, but I almost always beat a game if I play it, pretty rare for me to spend money on something I won't find likable.. only games that are unfinishable imo, GTA's, Elder Scrolls' (I get too offtrack in both of these... and oblivion just sucked), Assassin's Creed and Fallout 3 (both have horrid gameplay, rendering them unplayable)

My problem with Okami came when after 20 hours of gameplay the game builds up to a huge epic battle and then says "oh wait there's about ten more hours to go. Bye bye tension." I just said...bye bye Okami.

I always finish them because I don't buy an overwhelming amount of games to drown myself with every year -- I tried to do that last year and about 8 games never got opened and I went and got my money back for them.

It was much easier for me to finish my console games because I would only buy 1 or 2 a month. Plenty of time to finish them before I jumed onto a new game.

On PC, that is a different story. Every darn day there is a huge sale on soo many amazing games. Yes, I try to Ignore some deal but most of them are SUPER HARD to PASS by. So Instead of 1 or 2 games on month on consoles; I'm buying like 20 - 30 games a month on PC.

Funny thing is though; I'm still spending around the same amount money I did when I bought 1 or 2 games on consoles.
PC Gaming is so cheap =D

So....I'm going to say from what I am hearing on this trend.

Console-only gamers tend to finish their games up because there games are more expensive and are less?

PC Gamers have to stand all those 75% Off, 80% Off Deals, so they tend to get way more games, and as such not finish them, due to time.

I never really finished games before this gen, but I do finish the better games I play. Poor games, or long games, I will usually just stop playing due to boredom.

Recently I tried out Transformers: War for Cybertron and found it quite poopish, so I doubt I'll be finishing that. I also stopped playing AC: B and sold it 'cause it just got boring.

I finished Singularity because it wasn't too long and the action stayed fresh for the most part. Kinda ugly, but the game was fun.

Nope. I must be in the minority then. I'd say I finish about 95% of the games I own. I don't get the mentality of people with huge backlogs for the current gen. What's the point of buying game after game, after game, after game, if it just means you won't finish your previous purchase? Wast of money if you ask me. Then there are people who say that they have no time to finish games. Well, don't buy any new ones till you finish the ones your currently playing :P Maybe its because I don't have money throw around; college tuition, college books, gas, living expenses. $60 is a lot of money wasted on something you'll only play for a few hours and then move on to the next $60 game.

What do you buy like 2 a year? I buy at the least 5-6 every month. My backlog is probably around 50 or more games.
