Let's be honest, is 1tb enough storage for a console release in 2020?

I'll be buying an external SSD for my PS5 once they drop in price. For now, 1TB will probably last me 3 years or so without filling it. I generally buy 5 games per year memory management has been a thing since about half into this gen for me. I'm used too it but got sick of it. That's why all my PS4 games are installed on a 4TB external HDD.

Barely? If games are actually taking up less space as has been claimed- then I could make do.

I currently have 1 tb in my XB1 and also an external 500gb ssd. Will probably get another external one in the next couple of years.

The real question is, do you really need to have installed a gazillion games when you are just play one, a couple or a few?

Honestly guys, 1TB is pretty low compared to what game sizes are now. It should have been 2TB. Instead of paying $300 for another TB.

2TB SSD is not cheap. That would have increased the consoles by at least $100.

Better than the Series S with 512GB, that may be too little. I assume games will be around a 100GB each next gen, maybe 130GB on big titles like GTA 6. 1TB has been enough this gen, with an external HDD to move some games over to. If you can use an external HDD to transfer games you aren't playing for a while over to, 800MB is more than enough for me I guess. And after a few years you may get an NVME with those specs for a better price than the Xbox custom memory card.
