I think New Vegas should win...

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="Grawse"]what's this? someone complimenting final fantasy XIII? didn't you know you're not allowed to do that on gamespot? :x :P Watch in like 2 years people will be saying that FFXIII is actually an underrated gem or some such. Who knows with SW.For sure, I wonder how many people actually finished the game before coming to the conclusion the game is bad. It trumps ME2 in graphics, gameplay, RPG elements, but IMO ME2 has the better story even though FF13's story was amazing.I love Mass Effect 2 to pieces, but it doesn't stand a chance against FF13 RPG wise. It's just on another level.

You do not play too many RPGs I take it. FFXIII was a very shallow RPG experience even compared to ME2 and especially previous FF titles. it has an awesome combat system, simple yet full of strategy, and awesome story told with jawdropping graphics. seriously, i picked it up again recently and was like "HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, I DIDN'T REMEMBER IT LOOKING SO GOOD"[QUOTE="Grawse"]

get yourself a handheld, be it a DS or a PSP, and you'll change your mind. you can also try to convince nintendo to bring the bazillion RPGs they held there, now that they said "we'll keep the DS alive in the US by bringing the japan-only games over". who knows, maybe namco remembers that the world isn't only japan and they bring the damn Tales Of games.New Vegas but ME2 will probably get it..
This gen has been rather weak as far as rpgs go.

[QUOTE="Grawse"]Wow, ME2 must be bad. :P The game is just mediocre. For me anyway. It didn't do anything more than the next romantic comedy with Jenifer Aniston. That bland.I love Mass Effect 2 to pieces, but it doesn't stand a chance against FF13 RPG wise. It's just on another level.

Story wise: nope, RPG elements both games are a complete joke in that aspect. Like I told you in a previous conversation, no game especially aRPG should take 25-30 hours to get going.[QUOTE="Ace6301"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] what's this? someone complimenting final fantasy XIII? didn't you know you're not allowed to do that on gamespot? :x :PGrawse

You can't even form a party let alone get some freedom in how you will set your character's Crystarium until you get passed chapter 10. Gran Pluse being bigger than ME1,2 world map. You mean that huge empty area that only contains hunting quest. Oh wait I forgot the huge empty space that doesn't open up until ch.11. You need to play more FF titles so you'll realise what a good FF game is, heck you need to play more RPGs in general.[QUOTE="jasonharris48"]

If you say so at least that gave more options than just completing some hunting quest. Heck at least it let me set up my party from the get go as well as the character progression. I'll admit I don't play a whole lot of RPGs. I played a lot of ME1 but that was like 3 years ago, The Fable games if you can even call them RPGs, ME2 belongs in that boat. Demons Souls (amazing) and Fallout 3.[QUOTE="Grawse"]

They are all RPGs.
Fallout New Vegas however, is without a doubt the more open ended, complex, and I'd say deep - of the mix.

Besides
It is the VGA awards; an absolute joke in general, and an excuse for the terrible network to get viewer rating by having devs/publishers self promote their own products.
The real events is the teaser / announcement trailers.
The 'awards' are padding.
[QUOTE="StealthMonkey4"]Then every game is categorically a role playing game Not every game. But, yeah, what a silly statement. You play a role of someone, so it's role playing.

I find it quite funny what they nominated
-Fable III
-Fallout New Vegas
-Final Fantasy XIII
-Mass Effect 2
there's like one RPG, IMO, in the whole group: Fallout!
What do you think should have been nominated and what do you think makes an RPG an RPG? It seems this genre of gaming has the most debate surrounding its qualifications
I think that Valkeria Chronicles II, Dragon Quest IX, and Monster Hunter Tri were snubbed
Pikminmaniac
My best games are Alan Wake, Demons Souls, Fable 2-3, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Fallout Vegas and yet those got low scores and Uncharted 2 that was a single day boring shooting, a totally mediocre and indifferent game by any standards, got all the praise
Well, gaming IS becoming casual, so it is expected, all complex and good games will have a ceiling at 8/10 in 2011, when a RPG gets 8/10, will be like 10/10 in reality and for real non casual gamers
Nice to see more feel this way, i though i was the last real gamer on the planet
High scores today mean two thing only, a polished game and a casualized game, so people dont get confused, the quality of the game at its core does not get scored, at all
Because at its core, Vegas (and Mass Effect 1) is indeed 100x better RPG than Mass Effect 2
