Well if last place was something MS and sony were fighting for ,then sony would be kicking MS butt

Lol, I live right near Microsoft Headquarters, and I saw a MS employee walk out of Best Buy with 60 Xbox 360 / Kinect bundle consoles that he just purchased for a MS work party. I laughed and asked the Best Buy employee about it, and he said that they do it all the time. The employee I was talking to was the head guy of the little game division of that particular store which is right near MSHQ, and he said that they intentionally buy from retail stores rather than get the systems direct from MS in order to inflate sales numbers. No joke.

Well they must be partyin' like it's 1999....and apparently MS has a headquarters in over 100,000 cities throughout the world and every Friday one guy told me, 10 people from each of those 100,000 headquarters has to buy at least one 360 and donate it to a worthy cause..The same guy told me they stopped it because it was just too cool...True story

Plus, I don't mean to pee on your Xbox 360 sales parade, but...

The Xbox 360 launched November 21st, 2005.

It's been on the market for 79 months, or 6.58 years.

In 79 months, it's sold 67 million units.

That's 10.18 million units sold per year on average.

The PS3 launched November 17th, 2006.

It's been on the market for 67 months, or 5.58 years.

In 67 months, it's sold 65 million units.

That's 11.65 million units sold per year on average.

So I mean, you can't really hold the fact that the PS3 launched a year later against it. It can't exactly compete when it doesn't exist yet. By the looks of it, the Xbox was last place in sales last gen, and it's last place in sales this gen. Market trends don't go by total sales, they go by a sales / time available ratio. For example, when people analyze Call of Duty Modern Warfare (insert number here) sales, they don't wait until it's been out for 7 years, they see how much it's sold in its first week, its first month, the pace in which it sells, etc. They don't sit around for 3 years and then make comparisons.

Oh, and that's a console that launched at $600 dollars selling at a faster rate than the Xbox 360

I mean come on, either Xbox is doing something wrong or Sony is doing something right, or maybe a combination of both.

It was at E3 2012, but not many seemed to hear about it (kind of a sleeper).

Well you're partially right ....nobody does last place better.....The profound inescapable truth of the once uncontested market ruler now residing in the basement cannot be undone with pseudo arguments of launching late or of inflated purchase price....Marketshare is what matters ..and in that respect relative to where they were last gen ,this gen has been an unmitigated catastrophe for them..Spin it all you want

An app implies that the community would be responsible for having such tournaments and not necessarily being dictated by Virgin Gaming ....i could be wrong mind you

You're a liar and just trying to cover your PS3, nice try. Anyone with open eyes can see the dates in the links: June 4th, 2012 from E3 2012.

Actually, you can hol dthe fact that the PS3 released a year late against them. It released a year late and can't really best MS for sales or graphics. And why was this again? Oh yes, because Sony needed to sell their bluray player so it could defeat HDDVD before HDDVD got a strong foothold. Thus, bluray is sony's reason for being late the the party. If MS sold more units because it was out longer, its totalyl 100% sony's fault. Spin it anyway you want, break it down to daily sales if you want, but MS has a bigger market share and its sony's fault.

Don't listen to him; this is a partnership between X360 and Virgin Gaming. Straight from their site: http://virgingaming.com/corporate-information/press-releases/XBOX.html

So what?? Do you think Virgin Gaming are going to change the entire way they structure their Tournaments through their websites just because of this??

This is an app that will allow Gold members to enter into Tournaments through their Xbox, thats it.

Even then its going to suffer from the same issues apps like Youtube did, why use a cumbersome controller when you can use a Mouse & Keyboard?
