Poll Let's predict Xbox One OPENING JAPANESE SALES. (85 votes)

50,000 55%
100,000 14%
200,000 11%
300,000 4%
400,000 1%
500,000 15%

Now keep in mind this is when Xbox One first goes on the report. The Xbox One comes out In japan sept 4 or 6 depending on what confusing source you decide to believe, but most say 6th so eh. This would be on a Saturday meaning that report on Xbox One sales will not happen until 6 days later..

The first thing people should think about is that Xbox has had decent opening before. The Xbox 360 did over 250,000 however, it was also cheap and released with a decent library,

The second thing to think about is that the PS4 while games being an issue, opened at around 300,000 although the lack of real game announcements hurt it quite a bit and still have this issue.

SO NOW we get to the Xbox One launch. The Xbox One will be launching with 29 games and 3 confirmed SKUs and one rumored one: Xbox One with Kinect bundled with Kinect Sports and Titanfall, The Kinectless SKU, a regular Kinect SKU, and a rumore Kinectless SKU bundled with Crimson Dragon and Killer Instinct.

Out of the 29 known (it is said they added a few more but they have not brought those out to the open yet) you have 2 exclusive Japanese games and 8 Multiplatform japanese games (3 with additional content, making a total of 10 Japanese oriented games at launch. This along with 7 European games, 3 General Asian games, and 9 American games.

This opening is the complete opposite of what we saw from the competition. While it is still debatable how the legs of the Xbox One will be and also, it will launch before TGS, it could go either way in staying consistent. But I believe that the Xbox one due to this will at least have similar numbers to the PS4 launch or at max a bit more.

The Japanese price of Kinect Xbox One is equal to roughly $450 while the Kinectless is roughly around $350, but keep in mind the rise of taxes and inflation of japanese yen so these are actually some good deals similar to the U.S. pricing.

I think that the 300,000 range is what the Xbox one will due, it may be possible to slightly pass the PS4. I am a little iffy of it doing 400,000 opening.

But keep in mind this is just the opening.

360 has sold 1.6m in 9 years in Japan. Based on that, I'd go with less than 50k on release.

PS4 did 300k but is doing 6k per week in Japan now?

I guess maybe 150k for xbone, but people should be prepared for really horrendous sales.

I'd say somewhere between 225-275k. It's not going to do bad for am XBox but I think it will still struggle to open to a massive amount of sales.

It's got Crimson Dragon and the Psycho-Pass game (or maybe that's coming later in the year), and Titanfall got some interest from them. I can see 100K but I don't expect it to maintain much momentum after launch.

The Xbox One is the worlds most powerful all-in-one entertainment console ever made. Once the world see's that this is going to take off in sales. Thank you Microsoft. ^_^

50k-100k. I'd be very surprised if it goes over that.

It's not going to be pretty at all.

But the pre-order charts on Amazon shown a few weeks ago was truly an odd thing. I didn't expect any Xbox One's to be pre-ordered from Amazon Japan, but for some crazy, inexplicable reason, it actually had a lot ordered. I'm not sure what that means, but there is just no way the Xbox One is going to be successful when the PS4 itself is struggling now.

So I'll go with 50,000-100,000, but the weekly sales will drop off fast.

The Xbox 360 sold over 1.7 million in Japan.

This isn't a Flopza Horizon 1.5 sales predictions thread.

That one will be closer to 300,000.

The 360 was the first gen 7 console out in Japan, and released to a market that was much more interested in consoles that it is today. And that's before taking the economy into consideration. Using its sales as a starting point is a mistake.

If it hits 50k consoles on launch week I think MS would be thrilled.

Except I wasn't using it's sales as a starting point. This thread is about opening sales. Even the original Xbox and Pippin did >50,000 and at that point it was basically labeled as a black PC box in an era where PC gaming was dead and Microsoft was strictly for business use.

This own logic kills your own theory because of the original Xbox.

That's not what this is about, I addressed what you said in the last page. That could be clearly possible. Heck, it could do 1 million and drop to current 360 numbers every day after the opening sales window.

I predict 80 million in the first nanosecond, with 10 single units per week after. Quite a drop going 80 million to 10 units but since japan is some strange gaming vortex this sentence will now terminate.

Bad. I think 50 k might even be optimistic

For OPENING sales? Not sure how people are getting <50k without looking at history. Pippin did not even up below 50k.

No body cares about consoles anymore. Hell the PS4 has struggled to sell over 5k a week. The Japanese care even less about a foreign made console which has nothing aimed at them. The XB1 is going to bomb hard there and I've argued for a long time it probably isn't even worth MS launching in Japan.

Which just goes to show how irrelevant Japan has become to the video game industry. It is an insular and closed market and they are behind with the latest trends like indie games, DD, and Unity engine. They had to make a character called Unity-chan to appeal to them which is so laughable.

I don't think it will sell any better than its predecessors

1: It is the most expensive console currently

2: Xbox brand has never done good in Japan

3: Japanese gamers prefer smaller compact consoles, that is why 3DS sells the best there as well as Vita and Wii U as well.

4: Japanese gamers don't care about system power which is proven again by the fact that the 3DS sells the best there.

Not here to bash the Xbox One but I truly believe that the Xbox brand is like 99.99% designed for the western gamer.

Nintendo rules Japan anyway, and Sony has their fair share of sales in Japan as well since they have a lot of exclusive JRPGs and things that interest Japanese gamers.

Vita and 3DS are selling the best in Japan, followed by Wii U and then everything else is low enough in sales to be negligible.

There just isn't room for Xbox anywhere in Japan.

If this were "The Price is Right" and everyone else bid the numbers in your poll, I would bid 1. There's no way in hell the Xbone sells 50,000 or more in it's first month in Japan.

Wow, xhawk7 and SecretPolice are either insane or insanely sarcastic.
